Microvania is now out and ready to play for PC and Mac.

Here's a quick reminder of the new features that's been aded since the Demo build:

  • A bigger world

  • More enemies and bosses

  • Microcards and Microcells

  • Full Lexicon

Here's a few more additions that just made it recently:

  • New Auto Save options, which can be set before the game starts and also from Accessibility settings.

  • The Hint Frequency is now also shown before starting a new game, and also from Accessibility settings.

  • Can now exit game from Boss fights (it will take your last save, which is the room just outside the boss room).

  • Lexicon is largely hidden by default, and will reveal each entry when you see it or obtain it.

  • Windowed Mode can now be resized, including a pixel perfect x1 size if you dare to try the game in its fantasy console accurate resolution.

Download buttons for DLC on tabs

Previously to download a DLC in-app using the DLC preview you'd have to open the deck, then scroll the inner window to the left, and hit the big descriptive download button.

Then I was doing it myself while preparing for a show the other day; not just one DLC, but multiple, and it felt like a pain... this is not the best the user experience can be!

So I prioritized adding download buttons to the tabs themselves. These also allow one to quickly starts downloads on multiple DLCs!

They are the little downwards arrows & they come with tooltips explaining what they do.

If a DLC is installed the button is a cross in a circle instead, and it will uninstall the DLC.

This is one of the biggest advantages of what in software is called 'eating your own dogfood'. When the person developing an app, is also a regular user, this helps keep the focus on what's most practical for everyday use, and this leads to better software!

Downloading file-locked issue fixed

When downloading a DLC while playing its sample visual, Steam would sometimes report a locked file; which was the playing file that it tried to replace, but couldn't.

Now samples are no longer duplicated inside the DLCs, as they're exactly the same files anyway, and don't need replacing when a DLC is installed.

Faster startup time

Since update 3.0 on many machines the screen would go gray for a brief (& sometimes not so brief) time when starting up AI VJ. This was due to AI VJ checking in with Steam for subscriptions to Workshop decks & similarly for DLCs.

This wasn't a great experience. Now we've separated out the code that needs to know about the availability of Workshop Decks & DLCs, and the code that doesn't. And AI VJ starts playing the samples, or any other files you loaded, before running the latter.

So AI VJ should start near instantly again!

Bugs Fixed

Several more bugs were fixed, and small improvements made:

- A crash could happen when minimizing Workshop Decks or DLC decks. Fixed
- Uninstalled Workshop Decks are now better handled
- Updated the file picker library we use, as it on rare occasions did not work on Win 11
- Various code cleanups

We're thrilled to announce Update 0.8.5 for Starbrew Station, bringing a massive localization effort and a host of quality-of-life improvements based directly on your feedback!

Now Fluent in 30 Languages!

That's right! Starbrew Station is now fully translated into all 30 languages supported by Steam. From English to Español, Française to 简体中文, and everything in between, you can now manage your cosmic coffee empire in your preferred language. A huge thank you to our localization partners for helping us reach players across the globe!

Patch Notes Highlights (v0.8.5):

Based on extensive playtesting and your valuable feedback, this update polishes many aspects of the game:

  • Full Translations: Completed initial translations for all 30 Steam languages, fixing numerous text gaps across the UI, tooltips, tutorials, and descriptions.

  • Tooltip Rework: Tooltips now reliably stay visible while hovering, giving you ample time to read unit details and descriptions. Redundant tooltips on buy buttons and labels were removed for clarity. Social media icons now have tooltips.

  • Accessibility: Added Colorblind Mode options via screen shaders. Morale boost progress bar and particle effects are now larger and have a higher Z-index for better visibility.

  • UI & UX Fixes:

    • Resolved text overlapping issues in unit description panels.

    • Corrected label themes in Video Settings.

    • Fixed untranslated text in numerous areas including headers, buttons, stats, prestige shop, achievements, decorations, offline notifications, and tutorials.

    • Updated tutorial text to use the correct unit name "Blue Spacer" instead of "Coffee Enthusiast".

    • Simplified the second deck tutorial for better focus.

  • Gameplay & Balance:

    • Rebalanced "Starting Credits" prestige upgrade, setting a max level of 25 and reducing scaling. Max levels and benefit descriptions added for clarity on prestige perks.

    • Set default sound effects volume lower.

    • Added visual feedback for player damage vs. unit damage during the Inspector fight.

  • Bug Squashing:

    • Fixed Perk Up Pup walking backward and occasionally rendering behind machines.

    • Resolved issues with DLC assets loading incorrectly.

  • Steam Integration:

    • Added Steam Stats handlers for Prestige Count and Deck Count.

    • Unchecked Steam Cloud save syncing restriction for "Developers Only" (SORRY!). Your saves will now sync as expected.

    • Version number on main menu no longer displays "Alpha".

    • Expired and resent curator connections.
