A couple of weeks ago, we announced the start of the Screenshot Competition for The Riftbreaker. It is an opportunity for you to win Steam Gift Cards and eternal fame and glory by being featured on The Riftbreaker’s Steam Store Page. Many of you have already submitted your entries - thank you very much! Still, the competition is not over - you have some more time to send in your best creations. Today, we’ll also share the process of creating a sample screenshot - perhaps you can get inspired by a thing or two!

By the way - we heard your feedback and we are very sorry for the problems you've experienced with our previous media-hosting method. We're trying something new today. Please let us know if there are any problems with playing the videos embedded in this article. You should even be able to watch them full-screen! TECHNOLOGY!

Mixing and matching all the elements available to you can result in some great-looking and interesting screenshots.

First, you need to decide what you want to show in your screenshot. What kind of story do you want to tell? Is it an enormous, complex base, optimized to the limits of efficiency? Is it an impenetrable fortress that makes the alien creatures tremble with fear? Or is it something entirely different and unexpected? For the purpose of today’s article, we’re choosing the third option - we’re going to create a simple cityscape using all our decoration sets and floor tiles as our building blocks.

Using the cheat_minimap_teleport_on_click combined with minimap reveal will make the process of looking for the right spot much easier.

The first choice we have to make is the biome we want to use. This matters because it is going to affect the overall lighting and mood of the scene. The Metallic Valley biome is a perfect candidate for us, thanks to its blue-tinted atmospheric fog and cold light. Let’s load up the survival mode on sandbox difficulty - this guarantees that no enemy attacks or random events will spoil our perfect shot. Then, we’ll use a couple of console commands (if you want to learn more about using console commands, read our previous article here):

  • cheat_reveal_minimap 1 - this lets us take a look at the map layout and choose a good spot. Restart the map if you can’t find the perfect one.

  • cheat_remove_all_units - will remove all enemies from the map, ensuring we don’t die on accident

  • minimap_teleport_on_click 1 - this lets you move around by just clicking on the map - saves a lot of time.

In our case, we needed a large, flat surface with no immovable props. We were lucky enough to find one on the first try. Choose what’s best for you - your screenshot might benefit from utilizing the terrain features, or from incorporating the naturally existing elements into your picture. It is also a good idea to make a save file once you’ve found the perfect spot!

Try mixing various elements from our decorations menu into more complex shapes. You can also try combining the decorations with real, functional buildings to make them fit your vision better.[/i]

Now comes the best part - the creative work. Use the cheat commands from the previous article to give yourself access to all buildings and make your vision a reality. Make sure to use all the tools you have at your disposal and turn up the graphics settings. It’s a screenshot - you don’t need 60 FPS to capture a still frame. Once all the buildings are in place, take a couple of sample shots to identify potential problems, like the mouse cursor in the wrong place, the HUD that reactivated itself, or anything else that might break the shot. It is important to take a look at your screenshot outside the game and in various sizes - if your screenshot is legible as a thumbnail, there is a good chance it is a good one!

width="100%"][/video]One of the most important aspects of a screenshot is the lighting. Try looking at your scene at various points of the day - the time_of_day_hour command will help you with that!
This screenshot is almost good enough! All we need to do is hide the HUD, change the cursor size to a smaller one, and move it to a less visible spot. Pro tip: if you have a gamepad, you can switch to it for a moment to make the cursor disappear altogether. It's not necessary, however.

All done! Lick the stamp and send it!

In the new work, ​​"The Last Poem"​, the once introverted and inarticulate Kanna has grown into a capable working adult, now presenting a capable and sharp office lady (OL) image.

Born in the summer of 1972, now 27 years old, hometown in Saitama Prefecture, Japan.

To save money for her younger sister's medical treatment, she once chose to drop out of school and went to Tokyo alone to work.

By chance, she met ​Xiaoran​ and ended up "living together" with him for about a year.

After her sister's successful surgery, Kanna returned to high school and eventually entered university.

Now, she is employed at a large video game retail store in Tokyo, handling wholesale purchasing in her daily work.

Once introverted and not good with words, she has now grown into a capable member of society, embodying a capable and sharp OL image.

Update Notes
  • A Leaderboard has been added to the Well of Trials. Become the World Best Swamp Keeper!

    • You can now view the leaderboard when entering the Well of Trials.

    • After achieving your best score and dying, your score will now be displayed.

  • During the Well of Trials, killing enemies summoned by the boss will no longer increase your kill count.

  • The difficulty progression curve of the Well of Trials has been adjusted to be more gradual.

  • A Quick Deploy Key has been added to the Advance settings.

  • If a charged skill does not fire an arrow, the Nocking Time and Drawing Time attributes will no longer apply.

    • These values are now fixed at 0 seconds and 0.3 seconds respectively.

As this is our first iteration of the leaderboard, some bugs may occur.
If you encounter any, please report them.

We’ll be actively monitoring the leaderboard to prevent invalid scores from being posted.

It's October 23rd, which means the Plus Update released today!! I hope you're all looking forward to the new content this update has to offer!:D

3 new Heroes

  • Axel, a Brawler who charges his Gear Units slowly, but makes up for it with raw attack power!

  • Gobble, a Caster who masters the elements, both offensively and defensively!

  • Griswold, a Utility hero who excels at blocking attacks and healing himself back up!

 

2 new Enemies per Area

Which makes up a total of 16 new enemies! These enemies are mixed into the default enemy pool, so now you can encounter 5 different default enemies per area instead of the previous 3!

 

15 new Items

A large set of the new Items are various Bean variations, meaning you can now boost stats in a less random way! You can now cook 12 different Bean variations💪

Furthermore the Frappee, Breaded Cactus Fruit and Breaded Snail Shell recipes are now available!

 

5 new Skills

Gobble starts with the John Bomb Skill, Griswold with the Parry Skill. Furthermore there is now a Lightningstep, Hydro Claw and Thunderbold Skill available.

Additionally there are 15 new attributes!

 

20 new Stickers

Among 4 new Tackle Stickers, and 3 more “Everyone is”-Stickers, there are 13 more unique Stickers now available!

 

4 new Weather Types

New Input system

The old input system seemed to be confusing for some, while also missing some features. With the new input system you can now even use your mouse and also set which gamepads should be used and which not.

Thanks so much to everyone who played on day 1 and reported bugs--you guys are legends (both for playing and reporting!) We've now fixed two big ones (your menu screen should now say 1.0.9 or higher in the bottom left corner)

* Some people were getting "immersed in the mystery" to the point they were clipping through their deduction board into a strange void. While spooky, this was not an intended part of the game and it's now fixed. If this happened to you, save your game, download the update and use "ctrl + alt + u" or "ctrl + option + u" (for mac users) to yoink yourself back to hotel room.

* There weas a bug when you got stuck looking at Gaz's bathtub/cow watering trough after an important conversation. That should now be fixed.
