Greetings Scavengers!

Following last weeks Unity engine update (scroll down to see recent news posts), I wanted to drop a quick note to let you know we have updated our Steam developer profile. This is the hub on Steam that shows what games me and Sarah (SquarePlay Games) have made, but also what games we will be working on in the future.

As a small indie studio its not always the easiest to gain an audience, to put it mildly, and we'd love to take you with us on our gamedev journey. Personally, I tend to enjoy making a variety of game types, but there is always a chance we will return to a genre, or make a spiritual successor or even sequel to one of our games.

The Indirect Castle Retreat - PaulChristianIndieGame

Paper Perjury - blueisland

In this patch, we are updating the names of all fives cases in Paper Perjury. 

The changes are...

Case 1: "On the Hunt" to "Beginnings & Perjury"

Case 2: "Feline-y Assault" to "Conspiracy & Perjury"

Case 3: "Swiftly Solved" to "Magic & Perjury"

Case 4: "Glass Bullet" to "Deceit & Perjury"

Case 5: "Forging a new Path" to "Eubanks & Perjury"

All achievements will keep the names, but the official titles will be updated in game. As for why, there are a few reasons. 

  1. The original names we decided only a few days before launch. All were intended to be puns, but otherwise were basically placeholders that became official. With Case 6 coming out soon, we wanted to think of a proper name system for all our cases going forward.

  2. We decided on "X & Perjury" because we feel Perjury, which we define as "the act of lying during legal proceedings", is a core part of the game and all future Paper Perjury content. As much as I personally love puns, not everything needs to be a pun. So that is why achievements will keep their names.

  3. Case 6's teaser trailer announced the case's title to be "A Re-volting Fire", but we will be changing it to Case 6: "Regrets & Perjury" because we feel the theme fits the story this case intends to tell. While we still don't have a release date yet, Case 6 is coming along smoothly, and we hope to announce the release date soon.

Aside from the name changes, there are also a few updates as well.

  • When two characters appear on-screen, they will now appear at the same time rather than one after another. 

  • Fixed a bug where some of the testimonies given in the later half of the game had two arrows appear at the same time. 

  • Fixed a bug in Case 3 involving the Alleyway sooner than intended.

In this new update for Tawa: Lost in Time, several core systems have evolved to make exploration and storytelling more meaningful.

🧭 New Save System

You can now save your game directly from the Escape menu.
This feature stores Tawa’s position, the active scene, and all visited areas — giving players full control over when to preserve their progress.

🪶 The Dragonflies Evolve

Dragonflies no longer automatically save your game.
They now act as visual markers, showing that you’re near an important moment in the story.
They guide Tawa through sacred places touched by the world’s ancient memory.

🕳️ Digging into Shadows

A brand-new mechanic: “Dig”.
When Tawa approaches one of the black holes in the ground, she can dig to uncover a poetic clue tied to her past.
Each discovery reveals a short poem, expanding the mystery of her lost world.
And yes — digging also saves your progress.
Every discovery becomes a memory engraved in the soil of time.

🎨 A New Texture for Tawa

Tawa has received a new, detailed texture — softer and more natural, with subtle reflections reacting to light and shadow.
It helps her blend better with the environments and gives her a stronger visual presence.

I’m now focusing on the Savanna biome, adding more life, details, and events to make it feel truly alive.
I haven’t forgotten the player feedback shared on the Steam forum — many of your reports and suggestions are already on my task list and will be addressed in the upcoming updates.

🪶 Tawa now moves forward by digging into the world’s forgotten memories.
Each poem is a whisper from the past — a clue, a memory, a step closer to her family.
