Turok 2: Rok Match - SVR-Dev

Changelog:

  • Some minor code improvements.

  • Simplified the "spectate" console command. It no longer updates Char to Obsrv in stats, as this could cause invisibility after re-entering a game on a non-first played level.

  • Added an extra note in the free edition's launcher to clarify things a bit.

  • Renamed the built-in auto NVIDIA fix from NPIRM.exe to T2_Profile_Please_Allow.exe to make its purpose clearer for users with Windows High-Security mode enabled, reducing confusion with the associated warning.

  • Improved the Tranquilizer mechanics: Previously, players with more than 102 health were immune to stuns. Now, players can be stunned in this case, but the chance of stun is halved, and its duration is 25% shorter.

  • Locked the hidden screen tint setting to prevent players from gaining unintended advantages over others.

  • Further effects optimization to reduce the chance of fake shots at the moments of massive projectiles spam:

    1. The number of Firebugs spawned on wall hits is now variable (1 to 3) instead of a constant 3. For shotgun, this applies to each pellet independently!

    2. The number of tiny flames spawned on explosions is now variable too (1 to 3) instead of a constant 3.

This update introduces new passive magic for the Force faction and the Four Elements factions, along with multiple fixes for a smoother gaming experience. Below are the detailed update notes:

  • New Passive Magic that randomly summons elements to aid in battle.

  • Add more new Passive Magic for four element factions.

🐞 Bug Fixes & Improvements

Text & Localization Optimization:​

  • Fixed multiple errors and ambiguities in skill descriptions and UI text to improve accuracy

  • Optimized some localized texts to better fit linguistic habits and cultural context

Stability Improvements:​

  • Fixed a late-game crash that could occur under specific conditions, improving overall game stability

  • Fixed an occasional loss of focus issue caused by the controller support feature, ensuring a smoother operation experience

Kokoro Reflections is here with a mirror to their lunar base set, this time offering us a MV/MZ-sized tileset that has warmer tones and some burning hot lava. Build a space station located on a planet much too close to a star, or leave an ancient temple deep in a volcano for your heroes to find that gives them new and powerful equipment to take on any challenge.

A1, A2, A4, A5, and 3 B sheets are ready to help you build desolate regions where brown dirt and stone is broken up by rivers of lava and the rare gray machinery that proves your heroes weren’t the first people there. Create metal laboratories that are filled with machines powered by glowing orange crystals, or let your heroes rest up in abandoned houses that still hold the owner’s portraits on the walls and bookshelves with their random knickknacks.

This pack also includes character sprites for doors decorated with careful carvings. Use the carved stone doors to keep the interior areas safe from the hot lava outside, or have the double doors marked with a sun lead straight into the source of power! INVENTORY DRAG AND DROP

Players can now organize their inventories by dragging items both within and between personal and structure inventories. This feature works hand in hand with the hotbar functionality, allowing users to sort their items and equipment more efficiently alongside the hotkeys.

Additionally, dragging an item outside the inventory screen now drops it on the ground, just like using Alt + Click. We'll continue working on improving inventory functionalities into the future.

VISIBILITY CULLING IMPROVEMENTS

Tall structures such as walls and foundations now use visibility culling, allowing players to see themselves when moving through Keep and Town areas. We hope this enhances the user experience when fighting in tight spaces surrounded by dense structures. Similar improvements have also been applied to cave assets, improving visibility while exploring the Underworld.

VISUAL IMPROVEMENTS

TORCH CLIPPING

In some cases, the light emitted from torches could clip into ceilings or walls, causing the light source to vanish and plunging the player into darkness. We’ve added a system that dynamically adjusts the torch’s light position when it comes into contact with surfaces, allowing players to use torches more reliably inside structures and caves.

CANAL RENDERING

We’ve also addressed some problematic interactions between canals and terrain that caused them to sink into or float above the ground unnaturally. To resolve this, we’re now using vertical wall extensions to cover gaps in the landscape instead of dirt piles. In theory, this approach can handle gaps of any height simply by adding a taller mesh.

Sloping sides were added to the extension pieces to make transitions between extension heights look nicer. In the picture above you can see the debug traces indicating which type of extension to spawn (green=no extension, yellow=low extension, orange=medium extension).

UNREAL ENGINE 5.6 UPGRADE

Anvil Empires now runs on Unreal Engine 5.6, bringing several useful features for future development. We’ll be taking advantage of the new character animation tools as we redesign how our characters function on both technical and visual levels - this is also part of our ongoing efforts to improve rendering performance when many players are on screen. The upgrade also resolves multiple GPU crashes that players experienced under Unreal 5.1.

The Playtest couldn't be installed the first days, so it's probably
all the way down near the end of your Steams' Library !
“Starforce Rangers Playtest” should be found there.
Once launched once, it’ll appear near the top of your library next time.

MARS: The Last Exodus - NAGA

The demo for Mars: The Last Exodus has been completely overhauled in preparation for the October Steam Next Fest. This major update marks a key step toward the upcoming Early Access release, integrating extensive community feedback from Kickstarter backers and early testers.

Demo Overhaul

Why it's a big deal

  • Complete gameplay rework – pacing, balance, and interface have been refined for a smoother, more readable experience.

  • Visual and technical upgrades – environments, animations, and effects have been reworked to better match the final game’s quality.

  • Updated progression – the demo now represents the early stages of the upcoming Early Access build more accurately.

  • Community feedback applied – many control, UI, and clarity improvements come directly from Kickstarter suggestions and player feedback.

Key changes

  • Explore the new starting area and build your first Dome.

  • Extract Ores from the new Ore Factory and sell them in the Market

  • Recruit Colonists

  • Build different Mechs, including the Medic Mech but be careful, you'll need a Colonist to pilot the Mech (and you'll lose the Colonist if the Mech is lost in battle!)

  • Explore the Laboratory and discover MARS: The Last Exodus's Lore

Our Goal

This new version aims to deliver a much more representative slice of the final game, setting the stage for the final testing and balancing phases before Early Access.

Other updates

  • New Steam Page Design: reflects more the final gameplay loop and key features of the game (including cool looking GIFs!)

  • New Trailer coming October 13 to showcase the final direction of the game while keeping the main soundtrack.
