Hello Hikers! Another month finished, time for another Fireside Chat!

August FLEW by so quick it was actually a bit scary. We started this month off with our first of many tutorial videos! We aim to cover all the essential systems we have implemented and we've already completed 2 videos. More to come soon! I know we mention this a lot, but as a small team we have to maintain a fine balance so these videos will take a bit of time.

Another exciting update on our end is we did talk to EPIC! We had a long call with them talking about everything related to optimization. We've received extensive documentation and we'll cover more about this soon.

We will also address the elephant in the room, which is both "when is the next DEMO update" and "When is the game releasing". We're implementing our new MULTIPLAYER system which offers a new way to create a lobby and then join the game as a lobby. This new system makes sure that once the HOST is fully loaded in, all other players in the lobby will start loading in. We're also neck deep in optimization work, with all the help from EPIC we've found a lot that we've already optimized and we have a ton more in the works. We're also building out FALL, squashing bugs and working on new features. Again, as a small team this is a lot to balance, but we're doing the best we can.

"When will the game be released?" - We will have more in depth information on this very soon, our goal is the get this game to be playable for as many people as possible, and with this help from EPIC we are making strides towards that.

What we want as a studio is to continue being transparent with you, our amazing community. We see the feedback, we see all the love you send our way and we see that we've got a great game on our hands here. Great games get one chance to prove they're great, and we aim to come out as solid as we can with an extensive plan on what we're doing AFTER Early Access launch.

🏆 New Season — New Leaderboard Rules!

Starting this September, the game now has monthly seasons.
At the end of each month, leaderboards will be reset, and results will be archived (with screenshots of the TOP 10).

🔄 How it worked before:

Only your best score was saved.

If you played worse than your record, the leaderboard entry didn’t update.

⚡ How it works now:

Every new attempt is saved.

Even if you score lower than before, that result will replace the previous one.

✨ What this means for you:

Every match matters now.

At the start of each season, everyone has a fair shot at climbing the TOP.

You can keep playing to secure your place at the top.

Shards of the Realm - Fenyx

This patch introduces a new type of battle: Settlement Raids. To attack villages, you only need a hostile reputation with faction, but raiding towns requires a specific item additionally. Village raids are designed for mid-game difficulty and primarily focused on increasing reputation, while town raids are end-game encounters with valuable rewards.

I’ve also added a Level-Up History feature. You’ll now see a new button in the UI that displays all your choices for a character (except attributes).

An issue with Enhanced Auras was fixed. They were mistakenly flagged as removable after battle, causing them to disappear after the next fight. Unfortunately, there is no way to restore them, so a respec is required if you selected an Enhanced Aura for a character. Newly chosen Enhanced Auras should now work as expected.

I’ve also fixed and implemented various small improvements mentioned recently.

Changelog
  • A small fix for today's version 0.9.7. I noticed a bug causing Steam achievements and skill progression to fail – especially with Medic, which could have increased exponentially.

  • Correctly earning different achievements according to the situation requires confirmation.

Achievements: General Note

Achievements are new, and bugs are appearing, and unfortunately, I'm unable to test everything myself. Once they're fully tested, I might do a reset, after which they'll all be correct and well-deserved. The demo, like the entire project, is in Early Access, and that's to be expected.

Achievements in the demo and Early Access
  • I don't anticipate more achievements in the demo, maybe a few more.

  • However, Early Access will have many more achievements, including extensive statistics and a Steam leaderboard. I know how important this is to players, and to me as well – I'll definitely be paying close attention to it.

Planned achievements for Early Access and the full game:
  • progressive, related to each skill and completed tasks

  • successively, until the game's completion, for reaching and exploring new areas

  • related to quests, tasks, and the overall planned story mode

Patch Notes - Little Sim World version v0.52.25

Brand new Furniture!

We have a delightful batch of new furniture to help you decorate your dream space just the way you like it! Whether you're into adorable bunny chairs, peaceful lanterns, or charming patio pieces, there’s something new waiting for everyone. From themed desks and beds to tiny glowing candles and cosy lighting, your home just got a whole lot cuter (and comfier).

Performance Improvements!

You will notice your game is running with more FPS and stability after this update! We made several changes on the back-end to bring you a better performance, enhancing the gameplay smoothness and experience!

Balancing Updates
  • Clothes have updated tags! Many winter clothes now also include the wetness tag.

  • Painting styles now have different reward pools according to each style.

  • Paintings now have their tier scaling according to their completion level (Lineart, Smudged, Complete, and exceptions for the special tier paintings!).

  • Disabled the Tube's intractability (Multiplayer can still be accessed through the game's Main Menu).

  • Added the hygiene lesson for tutorial "Gotta Go!".

  • Added support for colour maskable items to be dropped.

Controller & Steam Deck Support
  • Fixed cursor scrolling on select with a connected controller.

  • Improved Build Mode controls.

  • Fixed primary action key to not trigger while in build mode UI. This caused furniture to be picked up while trying to select buttons if object was in middle of screen where mouse was last used on controller.

  • Fixed TVs to be interacted with on controller.

  • Fixed being able to interact with furniture that was placed on controller.

UI Fixes & Updates
  • Fixed Interest Level rewards sometimes displaying empty thumbnails.

  • Fixed book count in library fee notification.

  • Fixed pause menu to be fully hidden before HUD becomes interactable.

  • Fixed non-collapsing Quest Types on Fullscreen Quest App.

  • Fixed the special rod for "A Quirk Journey" not displaying the fanfare.

  • Fixed several item duplication issues after rotating them in Multiplayer.

  • Fixed Thought bubbles going missing during play session.

  • Fixed colour mode being toggled when holding down the key.

  • Fixed colour mode being toggled with a hotkey when hidden.

  • Written books that can be sold on the Pawn Stall now can also be sold on Shipping Bins.

  • Fixed "Player not receiving the Cap" during the "Alumni Survey" quest.

  • Fixed missing Patreon names in the Chocolate statue.

  • Recycling clothes bins now actually reward recycling XP.

  • Fixed quests sharing the red notifications with Job Tasks.

  • Fixed "Mysterious Book" disappearing when dragging it to another slot in your inventory.

Known Issues
  • Holding bathtubs in build mode will display water; placing them down solves the visual issue.
