We finally have the official release date for the Pumpkin Woods Demo!

The new update will include many quality of life features, new content and a ton of bug fixes thanks to your valuable feedback during the playtest! The full changelog will be released at launch, but here is a short preview of the new features:

The UI has been revamped to be simple and intuitive. Possible actions are now displayed on the right of the screen. This includes interacting with items, animals, doors, wells and furniture within range. Also, bonus effects on health will show at the top left (mushroom poisoning, fairy dust healing, etc). Bonus effects on happiness, hunger and thirst are still not shown to avoid information overload.

We're working to add more handcrafted areas within our procedurally generated system!

New quest to rescue an injured unicorn lost in the dark woods! Unlike most unicorns, this one may be tamed if you play your cards right. The pet system is now modular, which opens the path to possibly having more tameable animals in the future.

Out of 6 biomes on Early Access release, 3 will be fully available in the demo.

In this update, we’ve given the UI a little makeover to make it look cuter and more delightful.
The overall style is now lighter and friendlier, so hopefully it brings you a more relaxed and cheerful vibe while playing.

It’s just a small detail tweak, but we believe it makes the whole experience feel nicer.

Regarding the Content of This Patch Update:

Note: After the update, a small number of old save files may become invalid due to bugs or other issues. Due to limitations of the engine mechanism, it is impossible to fully resolve this problem. If such an issue occurs, you can try loading a save file from one or two steps back to continue the game. We apologize for any inconvenience caused!

DLC Changes:
  1. Optimized and corrected the character standing images and walking sprites in the original art package.

  2. Added split versions of some facial expressions for all in-game characters.

  3. Added walking sprites for Nozomi Kurusu and Mao Shiina.

Bug Fixes:
Text-related Fixes
  1. Fixed a timeline bug in the prologue.

  2. Corrected a spelling error in the English text of a certain ending.

  3. Fixed an issue where "Kion"’s name was displayed incorrectly at a specific point in the prologue.

  4. Corrected some typos.

Gameplay-related Fixes
  1. Fixed a bug in Kino’s route: during the opening CG of the zombie minigame, zombies would move and attack the player while the game was paused under certain circumstances.

  2. Fixed a bug where feeding Misu on the rooftop did not deduct dried fish normally, resulting in incorrect display of dried fish quantity afterward.

  3. Fixed a bug in the chase sequence of Kino’s route that allowed the player to move outside the map boundaries.

  4. Fixed a bug in Kine and Hanabi double puzzle minigame where monsters would directly attack Kion under specific conditions.

  5. Fixed a critical error in Inori’s walking sprites.

Optimizations and Content Updates:
  1. Optimized the text of some dialogues to make the lines and content more logical and consistent.

  2. Optimized and slightly adjusted content related to kyuka Shiomiya (such as kyuka”s terms of address for her parents) in the maze library of Chapter 3 in Kion’s route.

  3. Slightly reduced the difficulty of dealing with the final monster in the library maze.

  4. Added additional hints that appear in the early stages of the game.

  5. Changed the positions of certain save points that previously caused the game to become unplayable after each version update.

In response to player suggestions and demands, we are currently working on developing an ending collection room and a Misu collection progress bar!

After this update, if there are no critical bugs affecting gameplay that require a hotfix, no further updates will be released in the near term. All issues will be addressed collectively in the next update. The next update is expected to be a major one, which will be released before the launch of the side story & epilogue DLC. Depending on the situation, some mazes may also be partially reworked.

We are very proud of our work here- and we hope it satisfies anybody looking for an atmospheric and challenging arcade shooter. It’s very exciting to bring it back to market and get people playing it again.
