Another patch hopefully improving the game further and fixing a few bugs, let me know if you encounter anything new or if the below bugs haven't been fully fixed:

  • Reload UI not showing during Ultimate reload
  • Added Grabbing to input buffer to allow chaining actions more fluidly (is that a word?)
  • System to make player face specified orientation on spawn (third person)
  • Keep facing direction when switching from top-down to third person
  • Music now resets when hitting Replay button after ending a mission
  • FIXED: Music not resetting in Trains
  • FIXED: Firing recoil animation and then crouching causes crouch anim to be delayed
  • FIXED(?): Secrets challenges not completing properly (made adjustment to code that should make this work better)
  • FIXED: Reloading game while holding a bodyshield causes the UI to stay on screen

Infiltrator Rework - July Dev Letter 

Welcome back Auraxians, 

Summer is in full swing; and the long-awaited Infiltrator Rework PTS update is live! In today’s letter you’ll learn about the new additions, changes and balance adjustments to the Infiltrator class. We hope you enjoy the PTS update, and we look forward to hearing about your experiences with the changes. 

Infiltrator Rework – Phase One (PTS, July 30 – August 12 , 2025) 

The new Infiltrator rework aims to reduce the class's overreliance on high-damage ambushes while expanding their utility in team-based play. The class is being adjusted to support more tactical, flexible gameplay. We recognize how impactful and potentially jarring these class and playstyle changes can be.

Therefore, we invite you to fill out our new PTS survey on the changes. The survey is live and we encourage you to partake in it as you complete your playtest this weekend. Your feedback is very important to us, so be sure to drop your feedback! 

Cloaking Adjustments 

  • Increased delay between decloaking and firing

  • Cloaked players are now more visible and audible at close range

  • Stalker Cloak no longer allows infinite stealth while moving 

Wraith Cloak (Flash) Changes 
  • Increased delay between decloaking and firing

  • Cloak effectiveness decreases significantly at close distances 

New Tool – Recon Drone 
  • Deployable scout drone controlled by the Infiltrator

  • Can mark enemies for allies within a limited range

  • The EMP Grenade drop feature is available for use.

  • Infiltrator remains stationary and vulnerable while piloting the drone

  • Drone has a limited battery, low health, and emits detectable audio/visual cues

  • Certification options include extended range, longer mark duration, and offensive upgrades

  • The drone cannot be used in conjunction with cloaking abilities 

Implants 
  • New Observer Implant for the Engineer class. By equipping this implant, Spitfire turrets can now spot cloaked Infiltrators and attack them

  • Multiple implants, including Dead Man Trigger, have received critical feedback.

    • Dev Note: We are reviewing this feedback and are exploring adjustments to improve their design, clarity, and tactical value

  • Dead Man Trigger is not cancelled, but is under active redesign to ensure it feels meaningful and fair 

Next Steps 
  • This update marks just the first phase of the rework

  • Additional changes are planned in later phases based on testing and community input.  We want to share 2 main changes planned for phase 2. If we are satisfied with their quality, we will present them to the community for evaluation in future playtests

    • The Recon Drone's ability to spot and mark even cloaked infiltrators

    • Well distinguishable visual effect of glare from sniper scopes. The effect will be noticeable even on cloaked Infiltrators looking through the scope

  • We received some feedback about the low quality of animated camouflages from the June PTS update, especially on vehicles. We agree with this assessment and are currently actively refining them! Expect animated camouflages in future updates!

  • Player feedback from the PTS will guide tuning, usability improvements, and future development. It's very important for us to know your thoughts to make the game better in the best way possible! Please keep in mind that this is the first iteration of the infiltrator rework. We will continue updating the Infiltrator class based on gathered statistics and your feedback!

I hadn’t considered that some of you might be playing on smaller screens, like the Steam Deck or other handheld devices! The original text size was designed with desktop displays in mind.

As a quickfix, all dialogue text now offers three font size options:
Small, Medium, and Large!

⚠️ This fix does not yet apply to:

  • Notes scattered around the world

  • The Gallery

  • Books in the Library

However, this hotfix lays the groundwork to adjust those fonts in the future! I’ll keep working on expanding this update to cover all text across the game.

For now, I hope this makes reading dialogues much more comfortable!

Environment?

The world of Caravanners is based on camping with your caravan. For example, the map design is similar to Forza Horizon, but offers a world not as dense as GTA4 or GTA5. Caravanners embraces a concept intertwined with nature. It features towns, small cities, long roads, and districts. It offers a variety of jobs and missions depending on the area. The world of Caravanners has a day-night cycle and different weather conditions.

Player mechanics?

To survive, you need to eat and drink.
You can earn money and buy food or head to the lake and catch your own fish. The choice is yours.
But remember: you'll need to build a fire to cook any fish you catch.
And if you relieve yourself in nature, you'll be fined. 💸
So make sure to either install a toilet in your camper or find a public restroom.
Plan wisely nature has its own rules.

What vehicles are available?

Here are the vehicles currently available, but the number of vehicles will quickly increase with the first updates. As you know, the game is in early access, and we are growing it based on your requests. You can let us know which vehicles you want on Discord. Class A luxury bus caravans will be added after the early access launch through updates. By the time those updates arrive, you will likely have just finished your first T2 van. Currently, many caravans have completed their 3D modeling, and the software details are being prepare

You can share a car with your friends, or you can combine multiple vehicles and form a convoy. In vans, your friends can even sit in the backseats.

Vehicle Engine System

You can upgrade the engine in van vehicles. There are a total of 3 engine levels. As you upgrade, the vehicle's performance improves. Engine upgrades can be done inside the technical garage and require payment.

At high speeds, the engine can overheat, and your vehicle may experience heat-related issues. When this happens, you must wait briefly for the engine to cool down. As you upgrade the engine, the chance of overheating decreases due to improved cooling efficiency.

Fuel consumption also varies depending on the engine level.




Vehicle breakdown

A vehicle has an engine health. This can deteriorate depending on various factors. When the engine breaks down, you click on the engine to call for service. You then teleport to the mechanic. You can repair your vehicle at the service center.

With future updates, newer repair mechanics will be introduced. (Tire bursts and other breakdowns)



Fuel?

There are many gas stations on the map. These stations offer restrooms and some items for purchase.

You can drive to the station and fill up with gas. Manual refueling is not currently available. However, with the update, you'll be able to refuel yourself. Fuel consumption also varies depending on your engine level and speed.



Vehicle Washing System

Your vehicle gets dirty over time. When it does, you can have it washed for a fee.

Fishing and Swimmable Lakes

The map features numerous swimmable lakes located in various areas. You can fish in these lakes using a fishing rod. Fishing cannot be done while swimming. Currently, fishing is only available in lakes.

The reason for this is that the map includes hundreds of kilometers of ocean, and enabling fishing in such a vast area is technically challenging and not yet ready. We plan to enable sea fishing in future updates.

However, for now, the lakes are more than sufficient. There are plenty of large lakes with beautiful scenery, offering a great fishing experience.







Purchasable small storage units

You can purchase and use storage units as you wish. There are warehouses in many locations on the map. There's a plaque at the storage entrance where you can write your name. This way, when playing with friends, everyone can designate their own storage unit. Electricity is charged at storage units. When the electricity runs out, you'll need to purchase it again.

Cars, trucks and vans of different sizes are driving on the roads.

Missions and Money Earning

There are various ways to earn money. For example, you can go to the oil trading center and buy oil barrels. You can fill the barrels at the oil pumps and sell them back to the oil trading center.

You can earn both reputation points and money by clearing certain areas in nature.

Fishing and selling the fish you catch.

Photography tasks and earning money.

There are many ways to earn money.

There are also many exploration missions. There are certain tasks you must complete in various locations on the map. These missions allow you to explore many locations on the map. In keeping with the spirit of Caravanners, there are missions focused on travel and exploration.

Our game first entered Early Access in the winter of 2023, and it’s thanks to your support along the way that we’ve made it this far.

Some players once told us, “Thomas's storyline was already rich enough at the start of EA, why not move on to developing the new character, the Panther, sooner?” We truly appreciate this kind of understanding, but our small team tends to be a little stubborn. Just like how we insisted on entering Early Access in the first place—even if some players felt Thomas's route was already complete, to us, it wasn’t. So we chose to remain in EA until it felt truly finished.

To be honest, being a "Chinese EA game” has brought some doubt, and made some players hesitant to buy. But we have no regrets. Time will speak for itself. This was our first time developing something entirely the way we wanted.

And when we launched the game, your support gave us the confidence to go all-in. We poured all our resources and passion into this project, even at the cost of overextending ourselves.

This is the reality of most indie games—we constantly walk the line between ambition and practicality. Breathing life into this world and its characters is far from easy. Due to time and budget constraints, we’ve had to give up on many creative ideas we once envisioned.

Back to the Dawn is not a perfect game, but we can proudly say: we love every brick and tile of Boulderton Prison, and we’ve done our best to polish it with care. What we can promise is this—in the limited time we had, we gave it everything we’ve got.

On August 5, the game will officially leave Early Access and the price of the game will increase to $23.99 USD. This is something we promised from the beginning and a decision we made carefully. Rest assured, even though the game will be officially released, our work on Back to the Dawn won’t stop. We’ll continue monitoring its performance, actively fixing issues based on your feedback, and releasing optimizations as needed to provide a more stable and complete experience.

Your First Camp

We show Draven sitting by a campfire and with a makeshift bamboo bed. It’s more than a cozy scene, it’s your first taste of shelter.

Sleep in ALARM isn’t a chore—it’s survival.

  • Draven can go ~24h without sleep before stats start to dip

  • At 48h, they tank

  • At 72h, she collapses and passes out

And while Draven and Glim are napping like fools on the dirt? A Concubine might just slink out of the mist and drag you off.


The Abandoned Hospital & Fields of Failure

On the far edge of Yachimu lies a crumbling Canopy Corp hospital—once used for sinister Arquanum experiments.
Spoiler: it didn’t go well.

Outside, the fields are littered with abominations; failed Arquanum fusions that now roam the broken soil. You can sneak past them. Should you? Debatable.

Inside the hospital:

  • Archived logs of experimentation

  • Detailed records of a “captured” Concubine
    (News flash: she wasn’t caught. The Mist Maiden let her be taken… so she could watch. Through her eyes.)

One of our favorite log lines:

“Concubine skin is like steel wrapped in silk. Blades, bullets—useless.”

You’ll feel the weight of those words when you're being hunted by one.
