Work continues on Dr. Kinderwood’s Asylum, and today we introduce you to a new character, Remora.

She is a simple country girl with a kind heart, freckles, and a braid. Wears a dress that she hemmed herself out of the doctor’s old clothes.

She is sweet, naive, loyal to the doctor, and afraid of catching the flower disease. She cooks, takes care of plants, and dreams of a soulmate. Remora can become the main character’s romantic interest if the player wishes.

Remora is one of those characters whose outward simplicity hides much more. She knows a lot… but she doesn’t say everything.

Launching today in beta, Legacy Mode brings back the classic 6-player deception you remember from Deceit in 2018. It is our tribute to the players who made Deceit what it is today.

As we continue our development on Deceit 2, the original game’s infrastructure is getting older, and the game engine it uses has not been updated in 3 years. Rather than let it fade, we’re bringing its most iconic experience into the modern era - rebuilt, and now part of the future. Based on your feedback, our primary influence has been the “legacy” version of the mode from 2018.

Legacy Mode rewards sharp instincts and fast thinking. Innocents must collaborate, gather light items, protect Antidote carriers, and track suspects. Infected players must stay coordinated, avoid getting caught drinking, and strike decisively.

To launch Legacy Mode, open Deceit 2 and press the Legacy button on the Play tab:

This is a public beta and will have some quirks. We will continue to iterate and develop Legacy with feedback from the community, and look forward to taking the original game mode further with you.

Update 1.4.0.199 is live! The Heartless now becomes available instantly, multiple commonly reported bugs have been fixed, and inactive weapon sets no longer contribute to the character stats!

• Based on player feedback, the Heartless, new escort ship from Lex Imperialis, will now appear instantly rather than after finishing repairs in Act IV. Its stats will be a bit lower while in Act II, to represent its damaged state;
  
• It is no longer possible to land on Thassera without Solomorne under certain circumstances;
  
• Solomorne no longer inserts himself into some dialogues when he’s not in the party;
  
• Fixed cases of incorrect behavior of Precognition ability that would sometimes prevent the player from ending the turn;
  
• Fixed severe FPS drop caused by unexpected interaction between Relentless Blaze and Will to Live. Also fixed Relentless Blaze not counting Soul Burn as burning;
  
• Fixed desyncs caused by saving during the preparation round;
