GONE Fishing - Bigsexy

Hey all, here are a few quick patch notes for ya.
I will be starting the save system next week and hope to have it out within the following week! Its proving to be more difficult to implement from both a technical and exploiting perspective but I will get it out to y'all asap.

Adjusted crocodile eye sight range and hit box. Made hit box limited to just the mouth but increased eyesight radius. This means it will be easier to sneak up behind crocs to flush the babies out but means you will need to be more careful when moving around crocs.

Adjusted bait spawning algorithm for the swamp map to improve performance. Adjusted so that low tier baits will spawn in lower counts as day count gets higher. Similar process to mid and high tier baits.

Adjusted crocodile and baby croc spawning to also improve performance.

Updated snake bait model and its onhook model and animation.

Buffed snake bait from score of .35 -> .38 (similar to duckling bait).

Adjusted spawn location of baby snakes to be near adult snakes.

Updated perk notes to inform the player they must have a gamer over to get a perk, they cannot simply leave the game.

Updated all language translations to meet the current standard of the game

Fixed bug where feeding a crocodile a fish (to pacify it for a short time) while being dragged by the croc could cause the croc to glitch out.

Fixed bug where wrong version of the crocodile was spawning on theLake map.

Meet the Demons
Regular folk living in Casskia rarely consider how their actions shape not only their world, but echo across the planes. And who can blame them? Daily survival is burden enough. Besides, it takes an exceptional individual to manifest that connection in a way that can be seen and felt.

Perhaps the most tangible proof of this planar bond lies in the six elements: fire, ice, air, earth, light, and dark. Woven into the very fabric of existence, these forces hold the power to both create and destroy. Since the Upheaval, the veil separating Casskia from other realms has grown perilously thin. Through these rifts, demons emerged - beings not merely touched by the elements, but their raw, violent incarnations.

It’s only fitting, then, that in the biting air and frozen wastes surrounding Frosthaven, the most common demons you’ll encounter are the Frost Demons.

Frost Demon
On their own, Frost Demons are hardly the most terrifying of their kind. They will rush you, certainly, and seem to favor sweeping attacks that catch multiple mercenaries in a single icy blow. But they’re neither fast nor agile, and a sharp mind can often stay one step ahead. Their real danger lies in what they’re made of - jagged shards and bitter cold. Striking one in melee will almost always leave you with stinging pain that lingers.

More troubling is how they interact with other threats of the north. When paired with other monstrosities, Frost Demons become far more dangerous. They can conjure waves of elemental cold to immobilize anyone nearby - disrupting plans, locking down movement, and leaving whole parties vulnerable to further attacks.

If you see one alone, don’t panic. If you see one in a crowd, rethink your formation.

Wind Demon
You’ve probably heard the old children’s poem by the Orchid poet Lathaire:

“The playful wind goes dancing through the trees,
It tumbles hats and tosses Valrath’s cloaks with ease.
Its daggers find your bones in winter frost,
Then twirls away, not caring what you’ve lost.”

Well, it seems the Wind Demons have heard it too - though they took the “dagger” part far too literally, as they love hurling ice shards right at your face.

And speaking of taking things literally, they’ve clearly embraced wind’s mischievous side as well. These little terrors are more irritating than a nest of imps in your bedroll. True to their element, they glide effortlessly through the air, making traps, hazardous terrain, or strategic positioning nearly useless. Good luck cornering one - they’ll just float up to high ground or zip behind obstacles like it’s nothing.

Worse still, they never slow down. Most enemies will eventually stop to reposition, buff allies, or do something vaguely tactical. Not Wind Demons. If you’re within range, they’re swinging. Every. Single. Time. Their strikes rarely hit hard, but they come loaded with tricks - pulls, pushes, little cyclones that fling everything nearby, even momentary disarms - that constantly throw your formation into chaos.

And just when you’ve had enough and finally commit to finishing one off? They vanish. Gone into thin air. Oh, they’re still around - you just can’t see them anymore. Demons? More like gliding elemental jerks!

Earth Demon
With Earth Demons, what you see is what you get: a hulking pile of health barreling toward you with all the grace of a collapsing stone wall. No extra armor, no retaliate, no real tricks - just a giant slab of elemental rage lumbering around, shouting (metaphorically), “Hit me with whatever you’ve got!”

And it really does seem like they want you to hit them first. You’ll see their attacks coming from a mile away - more than enough time for a hit-and-run. And if you’re the kind who likes running, good news: they’re slow. Painfully slow. You can jog circles around them and still have time for a snack. So, if they do manage to land a blow, either you let them, or you were too tired to care.

That said, it all stops being funny the moment you find yourself face to face with one - or worse, a pair of them - in a tight space. And if there’s some higher power deciding where encounters with Earth Demons should take place, you know it must be a particularly sadistic one, because it’s almost always in narrow, cramped quarters. Suddenly, that big, slow ground slam that hits everything nearby stops being laughable and starts being a real problem.

Even in open ground, the worst moment is when they stop lumbering and start thinking. You see one reach deep into the soil, haul up a rock the size of a table, and hurl it at you like it weighs nothing. That’s when it hits you - literally and figuratively - slow or not, this thing’s coming for you.

Flame Demon
When it comes to demons, Flame Demons take us straight into horror territory. These things are truly infernal - not so much in appearance (they honestly look like overgrown imps you could slap around), but in what they do. And sure, they don’t have much health, but getting through their defenses is a real ordeal. You need a precise, heavy hit just to make a dent. And whether you land it or not, they’ll flare back with fiery retaliation. No dodging it - and yes, it works at range too.

This lovely combination of high shield values and ranged counterattacks makes them a nightmare for anyone relying on summons. Flame Demons are summon-slayers. Best case, your summon soaks a hit or two. More likely, you both get torched by one of their explosive area attacks. And because they fly, forget about shoving them into traps or hazardous terrain - they’ll just float right over your clever ideas.

They’re less enemies, more cruel puzzles. You can’t just charge in and flail. You need precision. Patience. Something sharp and clever. Ideally with pierce.

Dig deep into your bag of tricks. Find that one ability that deals true damage without being an attack. You’ll need it. Because Flame Demons don’t play fair.

Night Demon
Night Demons look like something torn straight from your nightmares. Maybe it’s those eyes… or maybe it’s worse: that creeping, awful knowing - knowing exactly what's about to happen, and still hoping, desperately, that you'll find a way to stop it.

You won’t.

They lash out immediately, leaving you no time to act - only to react. And even that feels like a struggle. Your hands go cold, your breathing heavy. You swing back, but it’s like your strength just slips away when it matters most. Every blow feels like your weakest.

And that’s if they’re still there. These things melt into darkness, slipping from sight like smoke behind a curtain that isn’t even there. Just darkness - thick, hungry, and silent. Darkness that feeds on the blood of anyone foolish enough to wander too close.

Luckily, Night Demons are rare in the frozen north - considered too exotic even by the local horrors. But if you do face them, remember this: when fighting darkness, you’ve only got two options - learn to wield it... or bring your own light. Preferably divine.

Sun Demon
Speaking of light - yes, even that has its own demon: the Sun Demon.

The sun rarely shines in Frosthaven, even during the long days of summer, and perhaps that’s why, if Night Demons are considered exotic here, Sun Demons are practically endangered. But no matter how far north you travel, and no matter how dim the sunlight, if you ever cross paths with a Sun Demon, you are certain to get burned. These creatures operate on a cosmic scale. When they lash out, everything nearby scorches. Summons are especially doomed; like moths drawn to a flame, their end is as predictable as it is tragic.

And Sun Demons don’t limit themselves to close combat. Every so often, they shed a fragment of their blazing corona, hurling a searing fireball or unleashing a roaring wave of solar wind that seems to triple their size for a moment. When they pick a target, they don’t miss and the light from their attacks doesn’t just blind you - it fuels their next move, making it even more grandiose.”

And like the sun itself, their power doesn’t just destroy - it can also give life. One radiant flare, and all the hard-earned damage you’ve dealt to their demonic friends can vanish in an instant.

On top of all that, Sun Demons boast sturdy health and innate shielding, making them a sweat-inducing job to bring down. The best advice? Don’t let them attack at all. Stun them. Immobilize them. Disarm them. And when the room fills with light, seize it before they do - because if you don’t, the sun will rise for them… and set on you.

Chaos Demon
Chaos Demons somehow harness the power of all six elements at once. Just containing that much raw, volatile energy would tear most beings apart - and indeed, that seems to be the price they pay. Their appearance is a nightmare of tangled limbs - or perhaps “tendrils” is closer to the truth - knotted and growing from one another, studded with violent spikes that seem to rip and torture the very flesh of life. But these creatures don’t just contain the elements. They wield them. Recklessly. Violently.

Their behavior is every bit as warped as their form. Chaos Demons are utterly unpredictable. They can act faster than even the ferocious Night Demons; when they unleash their Heat Blast, only a Blinkblade - bending time itself and moving at their absolute limit - has any hope of escaping.

Every strike from a Chaos Demon leaves you muddled, your attempts to respond blunted and weak. If they come at you with their ravenous maw, the bane they inflict can end you outright unless you pour all your effort into shaking it off. Every trick the universe allows seems to be in their possession - melee blows, ranged strikes, shattering pushes, sweeping area attacks, healing, shielding, retaliation… even invisibility.

Yet for all their relentlessness, there is one opening. With one of their attacks, they may trigger an Arcane Explosion, scattering the energy of all six elements across the battlefield. In the turns that follow, they will draw upon that scattered power to make their abilities even more devastating. That’s your chance. You must join them in the dance, beat them at their own game. Deny them the elements.

Not that they’ll suddenly grow harmless without them - far from it - but it might just let you stand on your feet a little longer. Long enough to turn that power to your own advantage, to let your blades drink deep of the elements instead of theirs. And maybe, just maybe… you’ll be the one left standing.

American Truck Simulator - London

Abnormal Loads ahead! Those looking for an extra challenge in our upcoming Iowa DLC can find new Special Transport contracts in the job market. Think you've got the skills to deliver heavy and oversized loads? Let us show you what's on the road ahead!

Drivers ready to take on the challenge will find 3 new Special Transport jobs in the Hawkeye State, each of which have been carefully planned ahead with escort vehicles and local police enforcement ensuring a smooth delivery. Even with the extra help and clear roads, completing these job contracts will require careful driving and full attention to the road, especially when manoeuvring around built-up areas.

Whilst the job is tough, drivers who do successfully complete these Special Transport deliveries will be paid pretty well! If you're up for the challenge, look out for Special Transport DLC job contracts in Iowa between the following cities:

Dubuque to Mason City
Burlington to Iowa City
Sioux City to Des Moines

If you already own the Special Transport DLC, these new contracts will be ready for you to pick up once the Iowa DLC is released on July 10th. Excited? Don’t forget to add the Iowa DLC to your Steam Wishlist to be notified of its release. We appreciate all your support and look forward to seeing you take on these challenging deliveries. Until next time, keep on Truckin'!

Varthos - Heir to the Throne - Nightshift Game Development

We released a closed demo/beta build! You can get a key to test it on /r/IndieGames or rather their Discord as they are doing a giveaway early next week (around 7th of July). Alternatively you can join our Discord and see if we have one spare. Keep in mind, HttT is not even in early access, this is an early internal version: no localization (english only), solely running on Windows.

30th of June 2025, Changelog for full and demo builds:

  • New Playerskill: Added short range melee stun skill "headbutt". It's supposed to be single target and improve melee fighters survivability when fighting at the very front line,

  • Added a rare jump attack for desert spiders,

  • In main menu, hints should not overlay the welcome window anymore,

  • Added all new "out of combat regen": your characters stamina and mana regeneration will now increase by 200% when "out of combat". Conditions:

    • You possessed/took control of your character at least 20s ago

    • You did not receive damage for 10s

    • You did not deal damage for 10s

    • Your character has not been a target of a monster for 10s

  • Out of combat status should end when one of the above conditions change,

  • Added a hint for when leaving a run for the first time,

  • Monster aggro/alerted sounds should not trigger in combat as often as before,

  • Players can't run through lootable chests anymore,

  • Reintroduced map specific ambient sounds (as for the canyon things like, crickets, lion roars, birds...),

  • Minimap is now opened by default after loading a map. Remember you can open a big overview by holding the TAB key.,

  • Added a little variation to a weapon's attack power values,

  • Lowered the cost for the various level up traits (spellbook in character creation),

  • Increased base armor stat for all shields,

  • Stashes found in game now have a description when opening them,

  • There was a potential issue when equipping bows and quivers that ultimately led to the inventory logic getting messed up, allowing you to have a 2 handed staff and a shield equipped at the same time, or, while dual wielding 2 maces, it would still show a bow in either your hand or between your character's legs. We hopefully fixed all of those edge cases by now - if not, please let us know.

We look forward to talking to you on our Discord anytime :)

Shadow of the Road - Nanivel
Greetings, honourable warriors and wandering vagabonds!

A Perspective on Players

Shadow of the Road has cocluded the Open Alpha stage, and we're immensely grateful for the passion and dedication you've shown as you’ve plunged headfirst into its world. The feedback we've received from you has been invaluable. It’s exhilarating to see how players from all over the globe have taken to our game, and we’re thrilled to discuss some of the key takeaways from the results of our latest community survey.

We’ve also seen a wide range of player ages, with an overwhelming majority fairly evenly distributed between 25 and 44 years old.

In line with the CRPG, Strategy and Action-Adventure genres, which are the top-3 among our players, 91% of the samurai who took time to participate in this survey identify as male. The battlefields are, indeed, harsh places - but there is more to Shadow of the Road than mere tactical conflict, and we'll be sure to communicate it clearer moving onwards. Tell your sisters, share it with your wives and mothers! We'll be happy to see them and share our stories.

We also noticed a significant crossover in game preferences, with a large portion of you also enjoying action titles like Ghost of Tsushima (49.3%), Nioh/Nioh2 (35.7%), and Sekiro (42%). It’s no surprise that the historical themes and fluid combat have resonated with fans of these franchises. Over 72% of survey participants completed the Alpha, showing the enthusiasm for getting hands-on with the game early and contributing to its refinement.

SotR's Satisfying Statistics

Combat and gameplay: tough, yet rewarding. One of the most significant areas we focused on was encounter difficulty. We’ve received a wealth of feedback, and it seems the challenge level is just right for most players, earning a 4.11 out of 5 satisfaction rating for the combat system.

From the design perspective, the visual spectacle of the game's combat was clear enough for 85% of Alpha participants, with only occasional issues needing further ironing out. We're particularily glad to find out that the unusual continuous initiative Timeline was quickly and easily understood by more than 81% of our players, and the rest of the combat UI was found intuitive and easy to navigate by 87.3%.

Despite the inventory UI being perfectly serviceable, it seems we’ve touched on a quirky issue! Only about 65% of players have used consumable items, ergo, a significant number of respondents expressed a certain… caution when it came to using them, despite the evidence suggesing there being more than enough supplies to go around.

Four out of every five players found the dialogue UI both convenient and pleasing. And we're proud of the approval scores for that dialogue UI's contents across the board: interfaces can be polished, but your appreciation of our creative efforts is what truly matters! More than 60% of you became interested in learning the Japanese names and terminology highlighted in the dialogues and texts, with explanations of their meanings provided via tooltips. The partial Japanese VO (76.6%) and cutscenes (71.3%), designed to bring an additional layer of immersion to the world, were also highly praised, with most of you giving them the thumbs up.

The skill upgrade system was another pleasant surprise, with most of you - 84%, - appreciating its clarity. And while there's room for growth for the progression system's satisfaction factor, the variety of playstyles and story choices proves engaging - reflected in your 4 out of 5 overall score for interest in experimenting with different abilities and narrative paths.

Every journey starts somewhere, and those first steps are often the most important one can take. So, either our players have unmatched expertise, or we have crushed the tutorial first try! However, despite being exceptionally informative, the tutorial scores 3.86/5 on the Not-Bothersome scale as of now. Which is nice, but it means we're not going to get too full of ourselves: hundreds of you - a third of all respontents! - have left a wealth of comments and tips on how we can furhter improve this foundational experience. We are immensely grateful for the feedback you provide us with, and the time you dedicate to playing the game and making it better!

And of course, when it comes to immersion, we can't overlook the musical score - accompanying players on their journeys and keeping the tension high during combat. With a 4.1 out of 5 rating, we're truly grateful for the appreciation you've shown.

Roaming the Realms

You’ve also shown great interest for exploring the Shadow of the Road's world and setting. We’ve heard you loud and clear - the majority of players (70%) have experienced the wanderlust, looking forwards to uncovering secrets, takckling side quests, taking in the vistas and collecting the hidden lore scattered throughout the world.

The journal system, which keeps track of quests, lore entries, and world-building notes, was useful to most players who chose to engage with it. More than half of the Open Alpha participants found the journal to be a useful tool.

Worldbuilding has been a particular highlight at 4.4/5, and we understand that the players take the time to explore character backgrounds, hidden documents, and in-game lore. This has helped enhance the players' understanding of the larger conflict unfolding and immerse them in the game even further.

Companions, Choices & Charisma

From the generous score of 4.4 out of 5 It’s clear that the narrative-driven design has struck a chord with our Open Alpha auditory.

And so, we've finally come to the meat on the bones of any party-based RPG. We couldn’t possibly progress any more without acknowledging the cast, the stalwart companions who stand by each other's side through thick and thin. Without further ado, let's dive deeper into these character impressions!

Delights and Dislikes

Time to wrap it up. Here's a blitz round of some final sneak peeks into what is favoured and what is reviled!

As we look at the feedback and statistics gracefully shared with us by the Open Alpha pioneers, one thing is clear: your passion for Shadow of the Road is inspiring. You’ve offered us so many insights into what’s working, what could use a little tweaking, and what has truly captured your imaginations. From combat to exploration, companion interactions to worldbuilding, it’s all about making sure that the journey to come is as enjoyable and rewarding as possible.

4.2 out of 5 is a great result, but there's yet a lot to improve - thanks to you. We hope this final score captures the essence of the survey results, in the same spirit as you've shared with us.

Thanks again for your continued support and participation in shaping this game. Stay tuned for further updates, and be prepared for new adventures, deeper storylines, and more thrilling challenges. The battle is far from over - there’s much more to discover.

Until next time, stay strong, keep exploring, and remember: it's not about the destination, it's about the journey!
