Hello everyone,
Over the last few weeks, our main focus has been on finishing the ✨ newest update ✨ perfectly in time for the Steam Summer Sale. What better way to start your summer than having an adventure in the Wild Woods? 🌞🎮🍨
Our latest update went live a couple of days ago. It included six new languages, numerous bug fixes, and new visual effects 🔥 Like, did you catch how smooth it looks when you're cutting through the reeds?
This cute little splash wasn't ready in time, but it's soooo adorable that we couldn't wait to show it to you! 🥰
Last month, we started a Discord thread to collect your ideas for the third biome. You all came up with some great suggestions! Thank you so much! 🙏
The best part is that some of your ideas match ours perfectly (sometimes they're almost the same) 🙌 Seeing this is super helpful for making further decisions. Therefore, we took some of those ideas, combined them, and developed them further. We've even tested some of them in a simplified version 🎮 This allows us to experiment with ideas and figure out which ones could actually end up the game and which are great but can't be implemented.
One suggestion that we explored further is how the cold could also affect daytime and freeze resources. But how would you survive the cold when it's always there, and how would you gather the resources you need? 🥶❄️ So, the next step was - and still is - developing new game mechanics to help us survive this scenario.
Furthermore, we like the idea of using snow as a new interaction point: snowball fights with enemies, snowstorms as a new challenge, Rosie stuck up in the deep snow, and so on 🌨️
We’re super excited about everything that could happen in the new biome. And, of course, as soon as anything other than "it's getting cold" is set in stone, you'll be the first to know! 🤗🥰
It's great to have new features and optimizations that help our workflow. On the other hand, such a transfer is very time-consuming and causes new bugs 😅
Keep working on HotJoin
Rework the lobby UI (mainly to improve the skin selection)
Continue working on the third biome
Have a pawsome day! 🤗🥰🌞🎮🍨

We’ve seen incredible community engagement since Demo launch, and we’ve noticed that some players have started to create and share mods for The Scouring Demo. I wanted to make a game that was moddable from the start (this is why our game pack files are not encrypted, for example). It's always a pleasure for me, as a developer, to see what our community can create. Mods are great, and they will no doubt contribute to this game's longevity.
Current Features:
✅ Map Editor – Design your own battlefields.
✅ Scripting (LUA, AI, Scenarios) – Bring your mechanics to life.
✅ XML Configs – Tweak units, factions, buildings, items, and more.
How to Access:

⚠️ Note: Publishing mods to the Steam Workshop requires beta access to The Scouring.
Usefull guides:

Beta Key Requests:
Want to share your creations? Here’s how it works:
Show Voply proof (e.g., a screenshot of your map/mod) in Discord
He’ll DM you a beta key.
Upload to the Workshop and let the community play!
Multiplayer Note:
Custom multiplayer games will go live with Early Access on August 14. Stay tuned!

Hello there,
It’s hard to put into words the feeling that we’ve all shared ever since we revealed PHASE ZERO three months ago. Since our announcement, we’ve received tons and tons of positive comments about our game and our demo was played by thousands of people from all over the world (shout out to the one person from Curacao who played the demo!). And to see that we’ve reached over 65,000 Steam Wishlists in just under three months is… nuts. So thank you to all of you who played our demo, left us comments, for the Overwhelmingly Positive demo rating, for joining our Discord (come join if you haven’t - it’s fun!), making crazy-cool fan art, and wishlisting our ode to classic survival horror.
You all are the best.
We also had another pleasant surprise. Last month, PHASE ZERO was nominated in three categories at the PIXEL AWARDS EUROPE (love the capitalised title, just btw). Our game got nominated for the Big Bang!, Retro Roots, and the Indie Grand Prix awards. Unfortunately, we didn’t end up taking any of the award statues home, but just to be mentioned along with other great titles was a reward in itself. And the best part was, on the day we got to show off our game to you, the people! Check out some of the photos from the showfloor. We had a blast.
So, what’s coming up next for us? To be honest, lots and lots of work. We will now bury our heads deep and keep working on PHASE ZERO. We have some new tasty locations to cook, new zombies and enemies to make, and lots of other things that are both big and small, and somewhere in between. Our plan is to share with you what we are working on here on Steam, so follow our game or join our Discord so you can stay up to date with all the gossip.
Alright, that’s it from us. Once again, thank you for all your support. It means a ton to us. And as always, stay safe out there people. The streets of Flint Peak are not what they used to be.
Until next time,
SPINA Studio
