To celebrate the coming together of so many communities at AVCon 2025, Bad Plan Studios is running a Fan Art Competition (with prizes!) to see who can best capture and interpret the hellish world of Ember. While we are promoting the competition during the event, you don't have to be attending AVCon to enter, but you do need to be over 18.
$250 cash (transferred by EFT/PayPal), because Cash is King! This People's Choice prize will be given to the piece of art that achieves the most traction on the Steam Competition page and across other socials. (See below '4.3 Engagement Calculation' for how votes will be measured.) To be in the running for this you need to share and promote your entry across as many social channels as you can (and tag us, of course, for extra reach).
A $250 Coles Myer voucher. This 'Jury Selection' prize will be chosen by Bad Plan Studios (and let's face it, Dan will have double voting rights). We will be looking for a balance of individual expression and respecting the course, quality, and a bold kind of vision.
For this category we encourage the community to do their best to design a new boss that might be included in the game. Tag it with #BossConcept, and make it conceptual rather than polished. Use arrows, callouts and labels to suggest how parts might be detailed or how they might contribute to gameplay. Take inspiration form the Fetid Larvae Wet Nurse in the game or form @eyerophant's enemy concept:
The prize for Design a Boss is an opportunity to spend 1-2 hours with the Bad Plan dev team ideating and working up your concept for consideration for inclusion into the game. If your ideas are used, you will be given a credit in the game. (We reserve the right to select no winners, or to select multiple winners.)

Let's face it, as an art-led game, End of Ember is pretty clear about its vibe. It's cute but gory, over the top, and it turns heads. That's what we are looking for in our Fan Art. It can be anything plausibly inspired by the game: an image of Ember, enemies (already existing or concepts!), environments, weapons, props, or anything that is clearly located in the world of the game.
At the same time, no-one can draw like Dan, so we really encourage you to take your own interpretation of the art style and do your own thing with it. Wanna try Ember as a magical girl (or boy) with stacks of glitter and a halo? Go for it. Super-kawaii anime stylings? Bring it on. 2. Eligibility
2.1. The competition is open to participants worldwide, aged 18 and above.
2.2. Attendance at the associated physical event (AVCon 2025) is NOT required for participation.
2.3. Employees, contractors, and immediate family members of the organizer are not eligible to participate.
2.4. Each participant may submit a maximum of 3 entries. Each entry will be judged separately.
3. Submission Requirements
3.1. Submission Platform: All entries must be submitted to at least one online platform to be eligible for a prize. It is strongly recommended that you submit your entry (social medai link) to the Competition/Event page on Steam and encourage others to like and comment as it will ensure visibility for the judges and vastly improve your chances of winning the Peoples' Choice Award.
3.2. Content Requirements:
Original fan art only (no traced, copied, or AI-generated artwork);
Must relate to End of Ember: main character, NPCs/enemies (in-game or concepts), environments, weapons, props, bosses etc.;
Suitable for all audiences (no explicit, offensive, or inappropriate content; NSFW is OK for the After Dark category);
Maximum file size: as per platform requirements;
Accepted formats: as per platform requirements;
3.3. Submission Details:
Submission must be made to at least one digital platform, and may also be made to multiple social media accounts;
Include competition hashtags: @endofember; @TeamAVCon_ (and invite us to collaborate on Instagram for extra exposure!) and #BossConcept for the Design a Boss category;
Include Sponsor profile tags to be eligible for sponsored prizes;
Provide a brief description of the artwork in comments/description (including alt description);
Include artist's username/handle on the art itself;
Submission must be public and visible.
3.4. By submitting, participants confirm they are the original creator and own all rights to the artwork.
4. Judging and Awards
4.1. People's Choice Award: Determined by the highest combined engagement (likes, comments, and shares) across social media platforms subscribed to by End of Ember where the artwork is shared. For list of these, please visit: https://linktr.ee/endofember
4.2 Jury Selection and Design a Boss to be judged by Bad Plan Studios Development Team; Sponsored Prizes to be selected by sponsors;
4.3 Judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into;
4.4. Judging Period: 5pm Friday 18th July - 5pm Friday 25th July
4.5. Engagement Calculation:
Each like = 1 point (x3 for Steam)
Each comment = 2 points (x3 for Steam)
Each share = 3 points (bonus 9 points if you share the Steam competition page)

NB: while you are encouraged to invite organisers and sponsors to repost or collaborate on your posts (Instagram), their doing so is at their discretion based on their assessment of the artwork and their availability or interest in doing so.

4.8. Prize Collection: All prizes can be collected from a pre-defined location in the Adelaide CBD, or posted at the entrant's expense.
5. Intellectual Property and Rights
5.1. Participants retain ownership of their original artwork.
5.2. By entering, participants grant the organizers a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to:
Display the artwork in connection with the competition and associated event;
Use the artwork for promotional purposes related to the competition;
Share the artwork on organizers' social media channels with proper attribution;
Integrate the artwork into the final game with proper attribution.
5.3. Participants must not infringe on existing copyrights, trademarks, or intellectual property rights (adaptations, references, and reinterpretations of End of Ember are allowed and even encouraged!).
5.4. Fan art must comply with fair use principles and applicable copyright laws.
6. Content Guidelines
6.1. Submissions must be appropriate for all audiences.
6.2. Prohibited content includes:
Explicit sexual content (NSFW is fine for the After Dark category);
Hate speech or discriminatory content;
Content that violates platform, organizer or event community guidelines;
Spam or commercial advertisements.
6.3. The organizer reserves the right to disqualify any entry that violates these or other applicable guidelines, policy and legislation, or any contribution that in their reasonable opinion, is inappropriate.
7. Disqualification
Entries may be disqualified for:
Violation of submission requirements;
Inappropriate content;
Evidence of vote manipulation or artificial engagement;
False information provided during submission;
Violation of Steam Community or other platform/event guidelines.
8. Privacy and Data Protection
8.1. Personal information collected will only be used for competition administration and winner notification.
8.2. Winners may be required to provide additional information for prize fulfillment.
8.3. The organizer will not share personal information with third parties without consent.
9. General Terms
9.1. No Purchase Necessary: Entry is free and no purchase is required.
9.2. Technical Issues: The organizer is not responsible for technical failures, lost submissions, or platform outages.
9.3. Modification Rights: The organizer reserves the right to modify these terms with reasonable notice.
9.4. Winner Verification: Winners may be required to verify their identity and eligibility.

Overall Adjustment of Summoning Mechanism:
Now, every time a character maintains a summon, the mana limit will be reduced, but the original hard limit that a character can maintain up to 4 summons has been cancelled.
In the past design, summons were too cheap and powerful. It cost almost nothing to maintain them, and summoning them only required a few skill points. This made summons almost a necessary option for all mages. To maintain 4 summons at the same time, mages only sacrificed a few skill points and retained almost complete spellcasting capabilities. After this change, those magicians who mainly use summoning will need to spend most of their mana limit to maintain their summons, so they will be more specialized in summoning, and other spellcasting capabilities will be greatly reduced.
Enhanced the damage of multiple skills of "Yanguan Sword Technique".
Overall reduced the attributes of goblins.
Rebalanced all amulets' resistances and fixed issues with individual amulets having no resistances.
The cave near Stirrup Town has been modified to reduce the number and difficulty of monsters.
