Developer Note: This month focused on completing the remaining tasks from "Art Redo Phase 1", which focused on the Storybook Portrait characters. After a bit of testing using the redone in-game models alongside the old portraits, well, it didn't look great. Efforts were then redirected into redoing the Goddess of Dragons in-game model, and ya know what? I did a great job with her! I also completed some very much overdue older tasks of completing the Demon King art, adding the "Deew" monster, as well as redoing the art for the Goblin. Then of course the big thing (for me hah) was remaking the Chibi art. I decided to create an entire new system to handle these; using an "old-school" pixel-art style, I was able to quickly make the art and functionality which results in a much more visually pleasing result over the old "scary style" models. My intention is to use them in places where a large number of Waifus (more than 5 on-screen), because not only are they less resource intensive, but the simpler models cause less chaos on the screen. Less is more! Compared to the "Art Update" all of this work wasn't nearly as stressful. Since I was able to have some time to knock out smaller tasks, I also took time to rethink how the Guild-vs-Guild mode should work. I believe I arrived at a good solution, but of course, testing and feedback will be important here. At worst, it's another method for the player to "get more stuff" via rewards. On the note of rewards, I decided to go ahead and make "Events" work in Offline mode as well. Since Events are basically just a leaderboard, it was easy to make it so that it just stores the player's "high score"; it gives the player something to work towards, as well as again - another method to earn rewards from the event itself (depending on event!). Of course, the nature of Online mode offers extra rewards based on the final scores with the weekly resets, so that method stays the same.

It's been a week, and upcoming visual novel Truth Scrapper has already passed ✨ 10,000 wishlists ✨! Thank you for your support! 🤯🥰💖
I got a picture from Sosotte to celebrate the occasion, and here you can see Betz, Sosotte and Amour posing. They are making "10,000" with their hands. I think this is very cute and you definitely can tell they're making numbers and not just looking silly
- more music on main menu - pregame faceoff improvements. - fixed loading screen picture (just memeing for now) known issues: 1. when the server leaves game during initial countdown, after rehost, then the client is teleported to midfield. 2. A perfectly timed airdash during pregame with a player already in game results in that player stuck in airdash anim state during faceoff countdown.
How’s everyone doing? Hope everyone is enjoying the warmth (or heat) of May. Adapt has been making an appearance in various events this month, so let’s dive into this May round-up and check them out!
Trailer going Viral!
Recently, our publisher Slug Disco started a publisher channel on YouTube and reuploaded Adapt’s first trailer – then it went viral, sitting at almost 150k views! We are absolutely thrilled for all the attention our game has received (thank you for all the new wishlists!). This original announcement trailer was first posted quite a while ago, and Adapt has been through many evolutions since then. Over time, Adapt acquired many new features with more in the works, and we can’t wait to show everyone what else will be coming next to the game!
Indie Assemble
From May 5 to May 11, Adapt was part of the Indie Assemble festival, organized by Excaliber. This massive event included an extensive collection of over 1,000 indie games by more than 600 development studios from around the world.
☕Cozy & Family Friendly Games Celebration 2025
As of the time of this blog post, we are currently taking part in the ☕Cozy & Family Friendly Games Celebration 2025! From May 29 to June 02, numerous wholesome and cozy titles, both released and upcoming, are showcasing their work in this event! Check out the event and all these cozy games on the Steam page!
Community Creations
Of course, we can’t have a monthly round-up without highlighting some creative designs from our community: Frostwyrm by infernalanole725. A gigantic beast with a chilling (heh) aura! Its massive size helps generate maximum body heat in the freezing climate, with horns for both mating and combat. It even has a spiky tail to defend its rear!
Next up, Floomfs from Delight, which happens to be their first creation! The idea behind its design is “to give a mildly uncomfortable vibe” with an “innately curious look”. Personally, I find it oddly adorable. What do you think?
And last but not least, a Megalosaurus created by Lance Darkwater. A mid-sized jack-of-all-trades carnivore, its diet ranges from fish to large bovines. They are surprisingly adaptable, and can be found in deserts, grassland and rainforest.
