New Tower Climb Mode
In Tower Climb Mode, you must challenge each level sequentially from the first to the last, with no unexpected interruptions.


New Challenge Mode
In Challenge Mode, the difficulty increases progressively with each level. Can you conquer them all?


Reset for Normal, Step, and Time Limit Modes
All modes have been reset with completely revamped, beautifully adjusted artwork. Each mode now features 21 stunning images in varying styles. If unsatisfied, feel free to leave comments for potential replacements.


New Steam Achievements
Added new Steam achievements, bringing the total count to 22.


Three New BGM Tracks
Added three new background music tracks: "Light Melody," "Serene Tune," and "Joyful Rhythm."


Gallery Mode Reset
Gallery Mode has been expanded to five volumes, with each volume now corresponding to different game modes.

With today’s update, we’re taking another step forward in making co-op play a more dynamic and unified experience for both players. Players joining your world in shared progression now have even greater independence; they can interact with umbral bellies, activate vestiges, and even initiate boss fights.

We continue to monitor your feedback and are working on additional improvements. To this end, we would greatly appreciate it if you could participate in our poll over on X asking about co-op play in future instalments of Lords of the Fallen – Vote in the poll

Shared Progression Improvements
  • Joining players in shared progression can now independently:

    • Interact with umbral bellies
    • Plant vestige seeds
    • Activate vestiges
    • Start boss fights
    • Use shrines
  • Joining players now receive rewards from Crucibles when playing in shared progression
  • Hosts now receive a notification when a player joins via shared progression

Technical Improvements
  • Fixed multiple crash issues across various game scenarios
  • Added DLSS support for the Microsoft Store/Game Pass versions of the game
  • Fixed an issue where ranged weapon trajectory would disappear after unlocking from an enemy

AI Navigation
  • Improved the navmesh for AI in several in-game areas, making AI characters move around the world more smoothly

Returning Time-limited event: Battle of Nordvik


When Nordvik’s secret alliance with the West is revealed, Eastern Forces retaliate with an aggressive siege of this remote facility in the Swedish wilderness. Join the Nordvik Control Corps or the Black Storm regiment in the three-week power struggle that marks a turning point in the global conflict between two superpowers.

Secure Boot

With Update 8.8.0 on Battlefield 2042, we will be requiring that Secure Boot is enabled for PC hardware that can support it, in order to provide you with a higher standard of trust and safety whilst you play select EA titles. As cheat developers keep evolving their tactics, we're stepping up our game too. To keep Battlefield 2042 fair and fun for everyone, we're strengthening our defenses—especially against cheats that try to sneak in during the Windows boot process. This move supports our Positive Play commitment and helps ensure a level playing field for all players. If you attempt to load the game following Update 8.8.0 without Secure Boot enabled, but are on a piece of hardware that supports it, you will be prompted with a message stating that Secure Boot is required. Secure Boot is a feature that is available for Windows 11 and Windows 10 devices, and you’re able to learn more about how to enable this functionality via our EA Help article here.

Maps:
  • Fixed some unnaturally large pits/crevices on the terrain on Orbital.
  • Fixed an invisible zipline cable on Spearhead's Conquest gamemode.

    Vehicles:
  • Fixed a bug where some vehicles would be incorrectly marked as unavailable in some Breakthrough sectors.

    Weapons:
  • Fixed a bug where the Subsonic magazine would not be visible when using an underbarrel grenade launcher on the DM7.
  • Fixed an issue on the Battlefield 3 SPAS-12 in Portal where the fire rate was faster than intended if using semi-auto mode. It should now be capped to the weapon's maximum rate of fire, 150/120/100, depending on ammo type.
  • Fixed an issue on the AN-94 where the rail was not visible when you had a grip equipped.
    Fixed an issue where the attachments would be positioned incorrectly on the weapon icon for the GVT 45-70.

    Characters & Gadgets:
  • Following player feedback, we're bringing back the EMP ability to Casper's Recon Drone, but with some changes to improve its balance.
    Developer Note: The EMP was removed previously as part of a larger change to clean up gameplay and increase readability between infantry and vehicles. With this update, we are bringing back the EMP; however, it will only be able to interact with and destroy enemy gadgets and equipment. The ability is not designed to interact with vehicles.

    Progression:
  • Codex Update: Added new lore content.
  • Quest requirements for weapon customizations are now easier to read.
  • Fixed a bug where the SOFLAM gadget was missing from the statistics page of your profile.

    AI:
  • Reduced AI soldiers' accuracy when firing rocket launchers against airborne targets. You now have a higher chance of avoiding getting sniped with rockets if you keep on moving around with your air vehicles.

    Modes:
    Killswitch Remix
  • Fixed a bug where the objective capture UI would not be visible in the Killswitch Remix gamemode.

    Gameplay Flow & Social:
  • Fixed a bug that shows the wrong specialist when interacting with a locked specialist in the menus.
  • Fixed a bug where friends would show up twice if they were online on multiple platforms simultaneously..

A Storm Is Gathering in the Zone...
We won't dive into the full details just yet - that’s coming soon. But we want you to know what kind of shift is on the horizon. This isn’t a simple patch, it’s an important step in our development. One of many planned for Early Access - the “megapatches” are milestones, moments when the game receives more than just a regular hotfix, bugfix or minor improvements.

Thanks to your feedback, we’ve re-evaluated the way the game plays, feels, and evolves. We can’t yet share the details, but we want to tease key changes that the nearest Megapatch 02 will bring:
  • systems that once felt static are now alive with unpredictability,
  • encounters that seemed routine now hold deeper consequences,
  • core mechanics have been reworked for better control, clarity, and satisfaction,
  • new weapons - one ranged and one melee,
  • and a few familiar presences… have returned in very different forms.
The Zone is changing. Your decisions will begin to matter more - influencing the world, the factions, and the spread of Chernobylite itself. The threats you face will be smarter. More reactive. And more terrifying.

And don’t worry! Same as with every megapatch, we will bring you improvements and bugfixes, which will further improve your experience. Of course, please remember that the game is in heavy development, so in no way is this major update a final one - there’s much work to be done yet. But it’s definitely another step closer to the final release.

We’re also laying the groundwork for what’s ahead - our recently shared Early Access roadmap, which we’ll reveal alongside the full update, will show you how the game will evolve in the months to come.


You’ll see new features, mechanics, characters, weapons, zones, and story events — all driven by a central philosophy: we build this with you.

This second update again reflects a simple truth: you, the players, are not just testers. You are collaborators. Partners in shaping the future of this world.
