Bioprototype - Ciel
Dear players,

We sincerely apologize to all fans of Bioprototype. The game was removed due to the publisher’s policy violations on Steam, and the compensation plan did not meet your expectations. Below is the full story and our new solutions.

1.Cause and Responsibility of the Incident

1. The reason of the removal

●Bioprototype was developed by our team and published globally by a publisher company BD Games.

●In early 2024, the publisher broke Steam rules. Since we're not the administrater of the publisher team, we're unable to know the details of the violation. As a result, their Steam account was permanently banned, and all games they published (including ours) were removed forever.

This violation had nothing to do with our team or Bioprototype, but Steam required all games cooperated with the account to be removed.

Important Notice: The removal only affects Bioprototype. Its sequel Bioweaver is a new project, NOT a renamed version of Bioprototype. We regret that some players mistakenly believed the still-available Bioweaver to be a rebranded Bioprototype. We hereby confirm the two are separate entries in the same series.

2. Our Mistakes

We failed to check risks in the publisher partnership and didn’t draft any legal provisions against publisher's violations.

We handled the crisis poorly: From June 2024 to the present, in order to maintain the basic operating funds of the company, we chose to focus on developing the new project and entrusted an outsourcing service agency to handle over 100,000 players' key requests manually. During this period, we hoped to explain the situation to Steam to restore the game and communicated with the official through various channels multiple times, but were ultimately rejected. These wrong measures lead to the untimely or missing issuance of keys.

○Early on, we forced players into an Epic key solution due to Steam’s key limit (only 2,000 keys allowed). We ignored that many players prefer Steam, and this decision was careless. We are truly sorry.

2. The Reason Why Solutions Were Delayed

●We signed Anti-price discrimination Agreements with the publisher on other platforms before the incident. If we had released Bioprototype for free at any time, we would have faced legal action and heavy penalties.

●This was another mistake in our risk management—failing to foresee how these contracts would limit our response during a crisis.

3. Current Solutions

1. Free Access & Compensation

●Bioprototype will return to Steam for free for 2 months (May 20–July 20). All players can add it to the library.
Add to Library: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3689520/_/

2. Discount for Bio-Series Bundle

●Everyone who claims Bioprototype during the free period will get an 20% OFF for the Bio-Series bundle. This offer works forever when buying the bundle.

4. Acknowledgments

Thank you to every player who criticized us, gave advice. Your feedback helped improve our games. If you have any comment, feel free to reach us via Discord or Steam Community.

The Card Rack is one of Sigil’s unique features that really acts as a game changer! It’s very frustrating depending on that singular, perfect card draw that will get you out of a sticky situation, right? We’ve all topdecked the exact thing we’ve needed once or twice in our lives, but the reason that is so memorable is because it almost never happens.

But that’s where the Card Rack comes in!

To place a card in the Card Rack, you must pay its mana cost. This does not count as playing the card, so any effects that take place upon play (such as Burn effects) do not trigger.

Once a card is in the rack, it is inaccessible for the rest of the turn in which it was placed there.

But from the next turn onward, not only is it playable, but it’s free.

Well, ok, not free, I guess since you already paid for it, but the point is that you don’t have to pay for it again, and that means that you can stack up some really amazing combos or keep an ace in the hole for just the right moment, as you can use up your mana playing the cards in your hand and still continue to play any and every card in your Card Rack if the mood suits you.

There are also some great Relics and cards and even Champions that benefit from Card Rack usage, so keep an eye out and discover them as you play!

Ten Thousand Coins: The Golden Merchant - Cynthia - Thousand Tonic
Heya merchants!

We have a bigger update this time due to a longer dev cycle for this build, so enjoy!

Settlement & Environment
The following gameplay improvements have been made to the interactive elements in settlements and environments.

Many other improvements have been made according to player feedback to help with gameplay elements and quality of life, such as:
  • Randomly Encountered Merchants - random merchants and traders met in settlements now are more full-fledged, meaning a better system at managing goods available for trading, and also retain their data in save games and are not just one-time randomly generated NPCs.
  • Trader Types - These merchants are also split into two types: local traders and travelling traders. The main difference is that local traders are local settlers who will have the same needs at the settlement itself (e.g. the settlement itself is short on tools), while travelling traders are only stopping by and have their own very different needs and what they’re looking for.
  • Move & Interact - We have made improvements to the pathfinding system so that when interacting with elements in the environment, only a single click is needed (as opposed to the old code, where another click to interact is needed)
  • Rumours - Rumours from interacting with locals have improved by changing it so that most rumours will either reveal some info about trading goods value in another settlement or wilderness events nearby, as well as give a bit of merchant experience.

Combat System
  • Game Over After Defeat - Defeat in combat used to take away some trading goods or coins and allow the player to continue on, but often than not, the amount of goods taken away is enough to set the player back to fail the job objective, hence leading to game over anyway. This has been changed back to the default game over in Story Mode, or retreat back to the merchant company in Company Mode.
  • Bug Fixes - Various combat system bug fixes have also been made thanks to playtesting.

UI and Quality of Life
  • Minimap - A fully working minimap system has been implemented for every settlement, showing the player’s location in the settlement and nearby buildings of interest. This was a heavily requested addition from playtest feedback.
  • Trading Goods UI - Each settlement now also has a UI element that shows the type of trading goods they produce and need next to the minimap
  • Hide/Reveal UI - The minimap, objective UI, and trading goods UI can all be toggled to hide or reveal with a click at the player’s discretion.
  • World Map - The world map has also been improved with better UI labels for objectives and events, as well as UI pointers added to show the distance between settlements relative to the player’s current position. These were also a requested addition from feedback and should’ve been implemented much earlier, but were easy to miss for us developers.

Content & Timeline
  • We have also been working hard behind the scenes with assets and content development (many of which will be a secret until release)
  • Another good news is that we have finally locked in a solid release window for the game based on our development timeline. More news will be announced in the coming months!
Until next time,
Cynthia
