The simulation is receiving a minor update. As we continue preparing for the Reality Reboot, expect minor updates like this one to occur. While these patch notes don't have a lot of pizzazz, it does come with an important bug fix.

This update is a huge sigh of relief for me. I have been struggling for the better part of a month to get anything done, and fix the issues that have been making the game nearly unplayable. This update is a short clean-up update to help give players some more customization, while also prepping the code for more future updates! Steam achievements still seem to elude me, but hopefully there is at least some partial functionality now!

V11 Plans:
I am considering adding another minigame to v11, as well as adding several achievements and more settings to make the game more enjoyable. I also hope to get a couple more popups made to increase the diversity of what you can experience while playing.

Some players that have really nice ultra-wide monitors are having issues with the frame being cropped at the top/bottom.
Now there is an option to crop the game at the original 16:9 in the options menu.
For the ultra-wide-monitor-owner there will be black bars on the side, but at least it will fix the issue.

Hey everyone, just wanted to make a note here, I am aware of some major issues affecting AI responsiveness, sometimes they fail to respond to threats at all and just stand idle, I have a pretty good idea of what is happening and should have a fix soon, as well as this the next update is going to feature some large improvements to AI in general so they will be getting much better very soon!


-Fixed several cases of floating vegetation
-Fixed several cases of gaps in terrain
-A constant backup of saves are now created each time the game is saved *


-Fixed shop occasionally not returning items when cancelling checkout
-Fixed some cases of quests events not correctly triggering
-Fixed using well to refill bottles preventing actions such as talking and crouching after finished
-Fixed corrupt saves during migration not being removed causing migration popup on every game load (corrupt saves still get backed up before being removed)

*Every time you save the game, a backup of the current save is created, this backup is overridden if saved again ensuring there is a constant backup of each save before the most recent save allowing for rollbacks if any issues occur.

Patch v1.21 – Update Notes
New Additions:
Added an inn in Xiaopei (小沛) for resting.
Added an on-screen prompt (press F5) to restart the game and reload saves.
Added hints for solving the Eight-Door Golden Lock Formation (八门解阵).
Added clues for the Mahjong side quest (麻将支线).

Bug Fixes:
Fixed incorrect stats for the "Lightning Flash Hat" (雷瞬帽).
Adjusted terrain collision issues in certain areas.
Fixed a bug where stepping on Zhang Fei’s face (踩张飞脸) in the Ancient City (古城) triggered incorrectly.

Troubleshooting:
Game crashes on launch?
Install the patch from the "help" file in the game directory.

Game loads slowly?
Steam Settings → Downloads → disable "Enable Automatic Shader Pre-caching".

Official Game Community:
Group ID: 482076761 (displayed in the game window).

Save File Transfer Guide:
To overwrite a save slot, you must already have an existing save in that slot.
Example: If you download "Save Slot 9", but your game has no existing Slot 9 save, the transfer will fail.
Solution: Manually save in Slot 9 first to generate a file, then overwrite it.
Space Tourist - Grow Now!



I’ve just pushed an update that adds a whole bunch of Steam Achievements to Space Tourist!

You’ll now be rewarded for all sorts of galactic milestones — whether you're hopping systems, landing on mysterious comets, snapping gorgeous planetary shots, or boldly planting flags where no one else has.

🏆 Here’s just a few things you can now unlock:

"First Contact" – land on your very first planet

"Galactic Photographer" – take 100 in-game photos

"Universal Claim" – plant flags on 800 different worlds (yes, really)

"Comet Rider" – if you find one, you’ll know 😉


If you’ve already made loads of progress, don’t worry: the game remembers where you've been — and achievements will unlock automatically the next time you load in or land somewhere new.

USER INTERFACE

TIME & SEASON

Previously, the map screen displayed the current time and season in a static plain text box. This has been upgraded into a new widget that has visual elements and dynamically animates as time elapses.



In addition to displaying the current time, it also visualizes the current season and weather. Hovering over the widget displays additional details about the current Age.



DAMAGE TYPE ICONS

With Damage Types becoming a more prominent feature, icons have been added to represent them in tooltips.



MAP & ENVIRONMENT

Back in June 2024, we announced the first phase of our “Natural Environment” updates. We revised the look of trees, grasses, foliage, ground scatter, etc., to give Calligo a more unified feel that aligned with our long-term vision for Anvil Empires. Today, we’re integrating the next part: improved water and rock formations. Please note: we’re still actively working on all of these elements, and parts may appear incomplete (such as splash effects for water/waterfalls), while some areas may not yet be integrated during upcoming tests.




One of the more challenging parts of constructing the world for Anvil Empires is integrating new features across such a large-scale landmass. We’re committed to delivering a high-quality, immersive world, and that means building smart tools and workflows that allow us to build something as handcrafted and organic as possible with the flexibility for adjustments as game design needs evolve. It may seem simple, but natural elements like rivers—particularly transitions into other bodies of water— can be quite labour-intensive, especially when working at such a large scale.




Rivers in Anvil are now a lot more dynamic and will naturally flow around riverbanks, rocks, bridges, etc. Flow speed, waterfalls, and rapids form based on verticality, and, in the future, there will be support for different categories of rivers, such as streams and brooks. Accompanying the river dynamics, lakes and oceans now feature improved dynamics themselves, such as cresting waves along shorelines and cliff faces. Oceans now feature interior waves that liven them up, rather than sailing on a sea of endless tiling.






Cliffs and rock formations are also being overhauled. Previously, all cliffs and large rock formations had been temporary to facilitate gameplay or level design needs. Testers will start to notice new, more detailed and varied rock formations replacing old ones cropping up in the natural environment. Some ground scatter rocks will also be updated in the future.

Updates to these elements of Calligo's natural environment were to not only improve fidelity and immersion but also to improve our own internal workflows, thus allowing us to build out each part of the map more rapidly and without as much overhead gunking things up. We hope you’re enjoying these visual updates; there’s more to come!

CART & CARAVAN MODEL UPDATE

The visuals on the Cart and Caravan assets were some of the oldest in the project. They have been refreshed with more detail and fidelity that is consistent with the rest of the game now.
