I recently dropped a final test version update that I've been patching and hotfixing along the way. The combat was all over the place. Fine in some areas and wildly unbalanced in others. So on top of bug fixes I have been pouring effort into the combat.
This update contains massive changes to combat balancing:
- The entire database of skills, equipment, and enemies has been rebalanced. - Character HP gain curve per level has been increased. - Gold and experience gain has been updated. - Magitech has been reworked so that it's spells are no longer just a copy of regular magic. - Some new magitech devices have been added. - Some new trinkets/accessories have been added. - Characters now have 3 trinket slots. Up from 2. - Magitech devices have had the spells they offer reworked. - Magitech skills now have their own selection window in combat. - Some new spells/skills and animations have been added. - Blue Magic is up and running again. - Some characters were starting with the wrong gear. That's been fixed. - Ellessidel now starts with a Blue (ELF-II) device. - Vanessa's dance mechanics have been reworked slightly. - The attack chain combo has been expanded to include the new magitech. - The attack chain combo has been changed slightly on a character by character basis. Characters now have 1 personal attack chain ability to add a little flavor and flair. - Weapon images are now properly set. - Tooltips on equipment and skills have been updated. - Some boss fights were bugged. The Inquisitor Lugae fight was really buggy. This has been fixed. - Side content has begun trickling in. A new Monster Hunter NPC can be found traveling around with information on rumors that will lead to optional side-bosses. - Random overworld locations have been deactivated temporarily for reworking. (shipwrecks, bandit camps, etc) - ...and much more! Too much to remember all at once here.
This update applies big changes to skills, gear, etc but it will not break any games already in progress. One or two magitech devices may suddenly be a different device but nothing beyond that. I apologize for any inconvenience.
Smoothing out the last wrinkles and running some tests to make sure the combat is good to go. After that, it's official release time! :D

Today, I want to talk about the future of Valince Genesis and the status of Update 0.0.3. As development continues, my focus remains on quality over quantity. While updates may take time, I want to ensure that each addition is polished and worthwhile.
What's Coming in Update 0.0.3? This update is shaping up to be a massive overhaul, featuring improvements across several key areas:
Movement System: A complete rework to enhance immersion and responsiveness.
Hands & VR Interactables: Better interactions and improved hand physics for a more natural feel.
Guns & Horde Mode: Refined shooting mechanics and a more intense horde mode experience.
How You Can Help Your feedback is incredibly valuable! If you've encountered bugs, noticed missing features, or have ideas for improvements, please join our Discord and share your thoughts. I'm eager to hear what you’d like to see in the game.
I'm also making steady progress on the game's AI, facial tracking, and other features, while my primary focus remains on core gameplay. When Will Update 0.0.3 Release?
Due to the size and complexity of this update, there’s no set release date yet. I’m committed to releasing it only when everything feels polished and ready.
Thank you for your patience and support as Valince Genesis continues to evolve. Stay tuned for more update!
I fixed an issue with the save system that caused files to overwrite each other, leading to conflicts. Now, saves should work properly, ensuring no progress is lost.
🔄 Background Mode Functionality
This update happened in an unexpected way! The game running in the background was actually an unknown bug. While working on the task system, I accidentally fixed it.
Since this feature had been in the game for a long time and was well-received by the community, I decided to properly reprogram it using the Windows API. Now, the game can run in the background natively and more stably!

In case you missed the small patch updates, as of version 1.06 Piczle Cross: Rune Factory has brought some fixes, a few new features and a big change in how auto-correct works.
Firstly, and most noticably, you will now be asked if you're absolutely sure before resetting a puzzle! No more accidental resetting! Secondly, there is now a small gold star in the puzzle select screen on puzzles that have been cleared in both regular and colour nonogram variations. This is a purely cosmetic addition for those players who want to clear every puzzle both ways, and is there to provide a quick and easy reference as to which puzzles have been cleared twice, and which haven't. Even if you've previously cleared both puzzles, if you reset one of them the star will not show, so you can also quickly see which doubly cleared puzzles are in a reset state.
Another new feature is in the puzzles themselves, the memo function! If you're counting out cells, you can quickly pop a memo in any cell to help you keep count. They are temporary marks that are not saved between puzzles, they just are there to help you count. They also have no effect on the clues, hints and are not intercepted by auto-correct. They really are just little visual memos you can place if you need them!
To make a memo simply press X or middle mouse button while your cursor is over an empty cell.
And finally, there's a big change in how auto-correct, and the Challenge Mode puzzles work. By popular demand, marking cells with an X is now ignored entirely by auto-correct. ONLY drawing blocks erroneously will activate auto-correct and potentially give you a time penalty in Challenge mode. You can mark Xs anywhere without fear, without getting penalised, even if you place them incorrectly, even in Challenge mode. This should make playing challenge mode a lot less stressful.
There is one small caveat to that, though. If you've started a game without auto-correct and then switch auto-correct on from the pause menu, the game will do a quick check of all erroneously placed blocks and Xs and correct them. You cannot do this in Challenge mode, so you won't get penalised for doing this. It's just there to help you if you're having a hard time clearing puzzles.
We hope these additions and changes will help you enjoy the puzzles of Piczle Cross: Rune Factory even more!
