Patchnote #27 for Dark Hours (v0.8.17735) - 27/02/2025
Gameplay
  • Taser Updates:
    - Taser now stops functioning when the player is frozen, caught, or knocked out.
    - Added a visual charge bar for the taser.
  • Jump on Head glitches removal: Removed the ability to jump off a character's head.
  • Difficulty Scaling Adjustments:
    - Heist objectives number of items to retrieve in van are now scaled based on difficulty settings.
    - Team bag goals are now adjusted according to difficulty levels.
    - Removed Nightmare difficulty level which was made available by mistake but is scheduled for a later update and was not balanced.
Monsters
  • Trickster:
    - Some balancing on Trickster behaviours
    - Prevent Trickster to spawn in the Casino's Patio
    - Items are now set to be invisible during the spawn box phase to prevent visual clutter.
    - Added a new Water React animation for the Trickster.
  • Monsters stuck in doors: Fixed cases where monsters were stuck in some doorways of the Casino
Level Design (LD)
  • Camera Speaker System: When using a security camera from a PC, the player’s voice is transmitted through the camera’s speaker, making it audible to those near the camera. Sound effect has still to be tweaked better.
  • Prison Starting Area Fix: If all players accidentally get trapped behind the starting prison gate, the gate can now be lifted manually.
  • Room & Object Fixes:
    - Fixed overlapping vent walls in the Art Room.
    - Fixed duplicate lockpad interactions and updated incorrect interaction prompts.
    - Resolved an issue where locked doors near electrical rooms were incorrectly replaced with grilles.
  • Drawer & Spawner Fixes:
    - Fixed drawer spawn pivots that were too high in the Detention Room's repair table.
    - Disabled spawner inside the piano, which previously caused softlocks.
  • Lobby:
    - Players can now steal from other players' backpacks in the lobby.
    - Eye & Skin Color Fix: Resolved an issue where eye and skin color settings were not being saved correctly.
  • Optimizations: First pass of optimization on the 3d lobby, more to come on the lobby and the casino environment.
General
  • Gas Sound Fix: Resolved an issue where gas sound effects could loop indefinitely.
  • Balloon Fixes:
    - Updated balloon state icon.
    - Fixed issue where balloons could remain stuck in a player's hand.
    - Fixed crash when balloons were filled with water till explosion.

We are only a few weeks away from the launch of Rain World: The Watcher on PC! I want to share a message from James on The Watcher.

Right now we are hard at work finishing up development on The Watcher and literally cannot wait for you to explore this new world. I'm not exaggerating in the slightest when I say that we are bringing Rain World somewhere entirely new. On March 28th Rain World: The Watcher will release on PC. But that will not be the whole story. We have multiple updates planned, and the final arc of the Watcher will conclude with the console release, at a date TBD.We will be going on this new journey together, so stay tuned for more details as they develop!"

Big Changes:

Training Division/Tutorial

-We’ve added a Training division, where new players play one tournament against pre-created bots/builds. We had feedback that our starter division could be challenging for new players to the genre - this should give people a more gentle introduction to the game, without taking too much time. Let us know what you think!

Found a bug? Hit the settings button and ‘report bug’ in-game!

Items:
-Carbon Fibre Plating Trinket - now giving 5hp on Taunt Items as intended
-Modular Sword - level 3 Modular Sword now gets correct amount of health.
-Red Paint Brush - fixed a bug where the Red Paint Brush would only trigger once per turn, even if multiple consumables were triggered during that turn.

Other Bugs:

-Fixed a bug where users with Steam usernames shorter than 3 or longer than 20 characters could not log in.

Oops - a left-over from our web testing!

-Fixed a ‘Connection Lost’ bug some players were experiencing, when their connection was fine.

It wasn’t you, it was us. Sorry - should be better now!

-Fixed a crash when revive items were placed next to Recurring Shiv,

We are delighted to enable further necromancy.

-Fixed a bug where you could get promoted beyond our current top division.

We’re trying a new battle screen that hopefully helps people focus on the action a bit more. Let us know what you think!

UI:
-Added a warning popup when trying to enter battle without a weapon.

-Added a hide button for trinket select popup (no interactions are possible until trinket selected).
A community requested feature, and one we’ve wanted in for a while! Thank you!

-Added a back button in tutorial messages.

-Darkened tutorial overlay and added a sound to each step.

-Added tooltips on empty trinket slots, unequip all button and item catalogue.
