Hey, friends! There are a few updates in this patch that will hopefully make your experience in Buggburg even better. :) Also, if you hadn't heard yet... Bug & Seek is now available on mobile devices for both iOS & Google Play!


Here's are the updates included in this build:

Option to Turn On Interaction Emotes
There's a new option in the Options menu to turn on Interaction Emotes. When turned on, you'll see an emote appear on your character when approaching an object that can be checked for a bug. This feature is automatic on mobile but optional for PC/Mac (coming soon to Switch).


Sell Back Decor at Full Price
Decor can be sold back to merchants at full price. There is an occasional bad bug where players are getting a storage tank when they attempt to buy something else. It'll take me a longer time to fix this, so in the meantime, you can just sell those tanks back at full price. :)

Rope Ladder Can Be Fixed
The rope ladder is now permanently fixed after using it once for convenient travel from the main meadows area to the cave.

Easier Controller Use When Shipping Jobs
When shipping jobs, your inventory appears in one screen. Those using controllers will no longer have to scroll to select all the bugs they want to ship.

New Good Bug!
Moss Mimic Stick Insect was added

New Tank Added
A new 3-Bug Wooden Tank will appear sometimes at Bob's Bigger Store on Sunday

Legendary = Extremely Rare
"Extremely Rare" was changed to "Legendary." This was a purely aesthetic choice to fit with our tabletop game that's currently in development. ;)

Optimizations
Optimizations were made in the code for slightly faster load times (won't be noticeable on high-performing machines) and to guard against certain bad bugs occurring when placing decor.

AAAND... in other news, Craig (our game writer) just published a book! So if you like all those clever taglines and bits of dialogue, you might like the other words he's been writing, too. :) It's on Amazon in paperback and eBook.

WolfQuest: Anniversary Edition - loboLoco
An essential (and enjoyable) part of making game maps for WolfQuest is visiting the real locations, so we can see, feel, and sometimes smell what they're really like. We've visited the Tower Fall area on all four of our visits to the park since 2017 -- and most of the shots in today's video come from that first video, when we were still thinking of Tower Fall as the next episode of the game. Now, of course, with the saga out, Tower Fall is simply another DLC map, coming later this year.



The Tower Fall map is west of the main game maps and south of Hellroaring Mountain. Back when we started planning this map, it was going to be square and only 4x4km (which is what we were originally planning for all the game maps). But we soon expanded that to 7x7km -- and then, looking at the topography of this area, we realized that this needed to be rectangular rather than square. So now the map extends from the actual Tower Fall waterfall in the north corner of the map to Mount Washburn in the southwest corner.

In our visits, we hiked down to the Tower Creek-Yellowstone confluence, and up along the Yellowstone River shore, and along Tower Creek above the fall -- but we could not hike into the heart of the map. Almost all of that area, the main extent of the Antelope Creek watershed, is a Bear Management Area, where hiking is not allowed. But at least we have main Grand Loop Road that runs the length of the game map. It offers some spectacular views of Antelope Creek and its tributaries. Wide open spaces, rolling grasslands with patches of forest -- just what wolves like!

We'll share more about the Tower Fall map development as we go, so stay tuned!

This update includes the following features and improvements.

- Two new missions have been added. A Hostage rescue mission taking place in a city Hall building and a bomb defusal mission taking place in an apartment building
- Added 3 new weapons: M320 grenade launcher ( useful for taking down vehicles such as helicopters ), 870 shotgun, APC9 SMG. These new weapons can be equipped in the "tertiary" slot, which allows players to carry a total of 3 weapons. A primary / secondary (pistol) / tertiary

- fixed bug with player switching seats when the car is full.
- Reduced amount of enemies that get spawned as it was overwhelming the players on Normal Difficulty
- Made the hit indicator that appears in the middle of the screen more visible and easier for players to know where they're getting hit from
- Added ability for players to command civilians to get out of the way!
- Added sound occlusion so that AI characters footsteps and sounds do not sound as loud when the character is behind a wall.
- Optimized the performance of the rendering of all of the highrise apartment buildings in the level
- Added ability for passengers to lean out of windows when they're in a car. This will allow passengers to shoot at targets easier
- Added glowing outlines to actors so they can be seen easier behind walls. This makes it easier to find teammates or important objects suc has ammo bags
- Added enemy Road blocks that appear during the driving portion
- Fixed bug with AMMO ui sometimes disappearing
- Removed some unnecessary features that were harming performance ( ie. the MBS LOD optimizer )
- The laser beam addon now shows a green laser beam and reduces the gun's random spread
- Improved various special fx. when the player shoots at objects in the world
- Made it easier to find and navigate to the supply crate when a mission ends, so the player can purchase new equipment
- Improved the code that was randomly selecting missions. It will now try to pick missions that have not been played by the players
- Fixed a bug with engine sound playing when player changed seats
- Improved the melee weapon impact F/X
- Fixed some bugs with the weapon store UI
- Made the enemies easier to spot when they fire their guns. This will make the enemy stand out more and easier to spot amongst the civilians
- Spawned smoke at enemy spawn points when new wave of enemy is spawned. This will prevent players from camping the spawn points
- Fixed a nasty bug with player controlled vehicles by that was causing them to be randomly destroyed while a player was still in them.
- Improved the mission briefing flow that occurs when a player starts a new mission
- fixed the scoring for the hostage rescue mission.

HEY EVERYONE,


Taking a break from working on the Whisper Update to present an announcement.
To celebrate FADE's last 10 days of it's Kickstarter we released a brand new Early Access Demo that includes a series of quality of life improvements, better performance, and shorter loading screens. New Features are as follows:

  • Bloom Slider
  • Game Music Slider
  • Changes to Blunt moveset to remove double swing attack
  • Changes to Twinsword moveset to remove wide swing attack
  • Changes to map loading: Now the main menu is apart of the world map, drastically getting rid of some long load times.
  • Changes to NPC Dialogue Settings
  • NPC Dialogues now de-aggro enemies to remove combat music

Additionally fixes some gripes with combat. To scour it and make sure there aren't any pesky bugs lying in wait, we're launching a Speed Run Competition from 2/19-3/1/25.

DEMO SPEED RUN EVENT
As it may be news to some, a lot of my continued passion for Souls-likes came from watching Speed Runs on the Games Done Quick twitch streams. It enthuses my passion for developing games, seeing how players play them, and seeing the impact the gaming community has on the world.

WHATS NEXT?
As for what's next on the horizon. Lot's and lot's of work. We've reached 29,000 in funding at this current juncture and it's only gonna go further leading into our last 10 days. Additionally be on the look out for a gameplay stream by DansGaming 2/20 at 12 PM PST. He's gonna be doing a key giveaway and providing more information.

We're gonna keep it pushing. We've definitely got enough to make new content and finish the game. It'll take more if we plan on working on it full time. I.E I make this post from my day job lol.
To give you some expectations, the following will be included in the Whisper Update:

  • Access to methods to reach the first Story boss in Whisper

We've come along way and we're not stopping.
