Devlog: The Planets of Sector Unknown
A few weeks back, I wrapped up the last of the five story planets for Sector Unknown. There’s still the “point of no return” planet—the climactic final world—to finish, but every planet leading up to it is now fully fleshed out with quests, writing, and design.

Now seems like a good time to share a bit of insight into each of these worlds. Keep in mind, these are just the core story planets—there are also numerous side-mission stations, derelict ships, and other locations scattered throughout the game….

Devlog: The Setting
As humanity expanded into the cosmos, the narrative of "Sector Unknown" unfolded in a clandestine sector comprising three primary star systems—Xiphos (XPH-6430), Svion (SVN-8912), and Fivo (FIV-6789)—along with several minor ones. These systems were home to the planets Maku, Nabi, Sjo, Eremtera, and Helfyr (more devlogs to come on each of these planets).

For decades, Star Frontier, a colossal trading entity reminiscent of the historical East India Company, attempted to ruthlessly exploit these planets. Operating with impunity due to the sector's erasure from all official star maps, Star Frontier unrelentingly expanded into the sector, unhindered by governmental oversight…

Devlog: Skills, Attributes, and Combat Stats

In Sector Unknown, your character and companions will have their own skills and attributes.

Attributes are commonly used to determine your combat skills, but can occasionally be used to outside of combat as well. Combat stats are derived from your attributes and determine your success in combat. And finally skills are used primarily outside of combat in dialogue, through world interactions, and more. The only skills that can be used in combat is Piloting, which determines your skill in space encounters, and Luck which provide re-rolls on failed critical hits and evasions…

Revenge of the Firstborn - robkoska

Mounted combat is one of the features I'm most excited to have in Revenge of the Firstborn. The game includes ponies, horses, warhorses and paladin mounts, the latter of which gains levels and abilities as their owner levels up.

All of the mounted feats from the SRD are present in Revenge of the Firstborn, so you can use the Mounted Combat feat to protect your mount or use the Ride-By Attack skill to gallop around the battlefield, dealing damage. Equip a lance and use the Spirited Charge feat to devastating effect or take the Trample feat to simply run down your enemies.

Pay close attention to your positioning, because if your enemies can get close enough, they may attempt to pull you from the saddle or ruthlessly kill your mount!

Warhorses are trained to attack with hoof and tooth and act on your turn. Non-warhorses are not meant to be used in combat and require a skilled rider just to maintain control of them in the fray. Investing in the Ride skill also allows you to use both hands on your turn whereas a failed Ride check means you must use one hand to control and guide your mount, foregoing off-hand attacks or, if you’re wielding a two-handed weapon, not being able to attack at all.

You can equip your mount with the basics such as a simple riding saddle, or chose from several types of barding to protect your mount. Keep an eye out at shops and when you're exploring the world to find barding with magical effects to augment your mount's abilities even further.

Check out the video below to see mounted combat in action!

Nine-Ball Roulette - r
Let's Walk!
Just now, we added movement to your characters!
  1. You can move freely at any time during a game.
  2. When a player takes a self-shot, everyone will gather around the pool table again.
  3. Other players will automatically dodge the player who is shooting.

Operation(or see "F1")
  • Move: WASD on keyboard, left joystick on controller.
  • Move when shoot: press E to activate, LB on controller.

Other updates
  1. Optimized game physics, now the left&right spin will not produce too outrageous effects.
  2. Fixed a bug that caused the player to fire two shots in a row when "Rearrange Cue Ball" and "Give Up" were pressed at the same time. (Thanks to 卡兹戴尔构史王妮芙 for the feedback)
  3. Now clicking "Rearrange Cue Ball" will automatically close the menu and return to the game.

Thank you for your support. If you have any suggestions or encounter any problems, you can give us feedback via wavebox66@gmail.com!

Hello inmates!

Back to the Dawn is currently participating in The Storyteller's Festival, which lasts from Feb 18th to Feb 25th! So be sure to share about our game with your friends and family!

Lately, we've been receiving more and more comments from you requesting for game updates sooner. We completely understand everyone's eagerness as we are quite anxious to share the Bob storyline ourselves! We are incredibly hard at work, improving the daily conversations within Bob's route, and writing the penultimate act of the plot. So we'd like to share some of the progress we've made in February!

Panther vs Hippo

The rest of the content we will share here involves the new carpark scene we are currently still working on, so we cannot divulge too much. But we can share some gifs of character animations we have prepared!
