Onimusha: Way of the Sword - capcomjapan_marketing
The Onimusha: Way of the Sword developers' message video that was shown during the "Capcom Spotlight + Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase | CAPCOM" presentation on Wednesday 5th February is now available!
The video features producer Kadowaki and game director Nihei giving their thought process of what's going into the creation of this series-reviving title.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword paints a lone samurai's desperate struggle against the eerie monsters known as the Genma, against a Kyoto setting featuring famous locations like Kiyomizu-dera Temple. The development effort is focusing heavily on the series' signature swordplay action experience, and more information is sure to follow.
Notes: - All media depicts a game still in development. - Some images and videos were captured with enemy dismemberment death effects disabled. ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー In the same program, an upcoming remaster of the 2002 title Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny was featured!
Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny was first released in 2002 for the PlayStation®2. With the protagonist Jubei Yagyu who is visually based on popular 1980s movie star Matsuda Yusaku, Onimusha 2: Samura's Destiny has slick action gameplay, and a wide cast of characters to befriend and ally with. While a worthy sequel in its own right, this game focuses on a different protagonist than Samanosuke from Onimusha: Warlords, so players can jump straight into Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny.
Further details will be released in the coming days, so stay tuned!
This was originally posted 1/30/2024 - I'm bringing all of last year's devlogs here to Steam this month to get everything up to date across all of our platforms.
Version 0.15 which is our first update focusing on the romance paths is in the hands of play testers. The script is now up to 24,741 words with a good chunk of new gameplay added to Eryn's romance path. This time around we really tried to work on building the relationship between the MC and Eryn by touching up the dialogue in their earlier scenes, as well as giving them their first animated h-scene in the second act. We also touched up some of the early game art that didn't quite look like the characters following the sprite revision way back in version 0.10 beta and playable demo. The new art came out great, it looks way better in general and has a lot more expression in the face animations.
0.15 Changelog: - Script increased to 24,741 words with additions to the Eryn romance path - Added new Eryn scene (chatting in bed, 5 eyes, 9 mouths) - Added new Eryn scene (sleeping together, 2 mouths) - Added new Eryn scene (changing bandage) - Added new Eryn scene (sleeping in the mill, 4 poses) - Added new Eryn scene (Eryn pushing MC onto bed) - Added new Eryn animated h-scene (temple bedroom, loop and climax) - Reworked Eryn's face and body on her intro scene (4 eyes, 3 mouths, 2 poses) - Reworked Eryn's face and body in creek undressing scene (2 eyes, 2 mouths, 2 poses) - Reworked MC's face and body in creek undressing scene (3 eyes, 3 mouths, 2 poses) - Reworked Eryn's face and body in first creek bath scene (7 eyes, 10 mouths, 2 hands) - Reworked MC's face and body in first creek bath scene (4 eyes, 8 mouths, 3 hands) - Added an animated water ripple effect to first creek bath scene - Reworked MC's face and body in forest creature sighting scenes (3 eyes, 4 mouths) - Optimized forest creature sighting animation in a way that makes more sense - Added more choices to the early story to track choices - Added the new scenes to the gallery and updated preview images for revised scenes - Added new background throne room night (2 props) - Added 2 water enter splash sound effects for creek scenes - Added 2 water exit slosh sound effects for creek scenes - Added creaky door open sound effect - Added door closing sound effect - Added log thud sound effect for Lena intro scene - Implemented some early game rewritten sections with the new writing style - Removed several boring and unnecessary liminal sequences from the story - Fixed 1 major bug (missing choice tracking variable in act 1)
Today we released a minor update, which upgrades our game engine (Godot) to the latest stable version (4.3). This update increases stability and performance.
