Hello Survivors,

The release date is near, and we are grateful for your feedback so far. We have implemented many changes based on your input and right now, we’ve made a huge change on how Research Points (RPs) work. This adjustment ensures that if a level feels too challenging, you will have access to more RPs, more technologies and new maps at a faster pace.

During testing, we played through all maps using only the basic setup, without spending any RPs. It is entirely possible to succeed this way and we believe the game will feel easier once you fully grasp the mechanics. To keep things challenging, we are also introducing the Mutator system, allowing levels to become more difficult later on!

Here are the latest changes:

  • Added a new UI explaining how to earn RPs.
  • RPs are now awarded for: surviving each new night, completing the level with each vehicle, and surviving 10 nights.
  • The next map will unlock after surviving 5 nights on the previous map.
  • Rebalanced the costs of certain technologies in the Tech Tree.

  • In the tower, the locked exits have chain locks on them
  • "Mysteries Of Mystic Cultists" quest, the description makes it clear which floor to go to
  • The spiked trap puts the player into combat status
  • Classes of the archetype “Scholar” with the trait “Militarist” can use trinkets
  • Auto Equip and Item Comparison settings moved to the General section
  • Interface info settings have been redesigned
  • Settings overall are more compact and should not clutter the logo as much
  • Level requirements for skill upgrades have been lowered to allow for a more free distribution when leveling up
  • For convenience, the inventory is closed when some items are successfully used
  • Rats and small gobloids can jump when attacking if their target is higher than them

Highreach - Neidio
Adventurers, get ready!
The world of Highreach is coming to life with Points of Interest (POIs)—dynamic locations that can spawn enemies, hold valuable loot, and even play a crucial role in your journey through the game.

What is a Point of Interest?
POIs are spawned structures that are scattered around the world, just waiting for you to explore them.
They can be towering structures as well as small enemy camps. It is always worth exploring POIs, sometimes for loot and sometimes for a combat challenge!
Loot chests can hold crucial recipes, valuable jewelry and even quest relevant items.
Some POIs even tie into the backstory of companion characters.
But all this loot needs to be guarded of cause, bigger POIs are home to a considerable number of enemies, some even unique to their structures.



How Points of Interest Work
Each island in Highreach features pre-designed spawn locations for POIs, ensuring that every adventure feels fresh and exciting. These locations have a chance-based system, meaning different POIs can appear in different places with each playthrough. To keep exploration balanced, a sophisticated system distributes and weights POIs based on their size and type—creating an immersive and different world every time you set foot in it.



Different Sizes, Different Challenges
POIs come in four sizes, each offering unique opportunities:
  • Tiny – Mostly decorative, but some hide special interactions.
  • Small – Expect a few enemies and minor loot rewards.
  • Medium & Large – These are full-scale structures filled with enemies and multiple loot chests, making them high-risk, high-reward locations!


The First Biome’s POI Types
As you explore the first biome, you’ll encounter three distinct POI types:
  • Rodling Camps – Hostile enemy settlements filled with danger and loot.
  • Fallen Kingdom – Ancient ruins with secrets waiting to be uncovered.
  • Abandoned Camps – Scattered remnants of past explorers… but are they truly abandoned?
And this is just the beginning! Future updates will reveal even more POI types, ensuring there’s always something new to discover.

If you were hoping for different fish, good news! That's what the Patreon is for! But first, I'll answer some questions that came up on Discord that I think are very valid:

WHY ARE YOU SHIPPING DLC WHILE OTHER SYSTEMS ARE STILL BEING DEVELOPED?
"I wish ________ fish was in the game" is the #1 thing we hear that is actionable without interrupting core development. Ryan's our only systems developer, Josh is our modeler/tech artist and Erin does all the fish painting. Josh & Erin are able to integrate new fish without having to pull Ryan away from systems design.

WHY START A PATREON?
Fish Game is a niche title made without publisher support. We are so far from profitability. But I'd like us to be able to keep working on it as long as possible for the players who love it and so the people working on it can have jobs.

IS DISCORD GOING BE FOR PATREON SUPPORTERS ONLY?
No. Patreon just doesn't have an front-end display option more nuanced than "Discord Access". Patreon subscribers will have access to one channel specifically dedicated to voting on DLC.

WILL IMPORTANT GAMEPLAY FEATURES BE LOCKED BEHIND DLC?
No. DLC will be content only: fish, plants, hardscape, and non-essential hardware. Patreon is *solely* for people who want to support Fish Game more than with an initial purchase.

WHAT ARE THE PATREON PERKS?
The full details are on the Patreon Page here. But here are the highlights for most players:
  1. We have several content DLC packs ready to go and while we haven't scheduled them all, releases will be regular.
  2. Memberships above $3/mo will be able to vote on which DLC are released next.
  3. Memberships above $5/mo will get:
    • DLC Steam codes automatically sent to their inboxes without having to purchase them while subscribed.
    • A name of your choice (subject to approval) that the game will randomly assign to fish in stores.
  4. There are also higher-level tiers the let you choose a fish you want in the game and help design its behavior.

Euro Truck Simulator 2 - Tiktak
Yesterday, we ended the #CruisingGreece World of Trucks event for Euro Truck Simulator 2. To celebrate the conclusion of this successful event, we're excited to announce the release of the Greek Mythology Pack! So in this blog, let's wrap up and recap the latest WoTr event as well as present the beautiful Greece-themed paint jobs pack for ETS2.


The #CruisingGreece event began on December 4th with the release of our latest ETS2 map expansion. Although our #BestCommunityEver had almost two months to complete it, they managed to reach the community goal in just twelve days! The collective target was to drive 200 million kilometres while delivering cargo to or from any city in Greece. This is simply astonishing. You accomplished this sooner than any of us believed!

In total, you have driven 387,426,427 kilometres! More than 93 thousand players took part in the event and over 48,000 finished all 15 jobs and accomplished their individual goals. Although it wasn't a deciding factor for the community goal, we wanted to share this statistic too - you've completed 827,116 deliveries while participating in this event!


We would like to thank everyone who participated in this event and the team behind its production. We hope you are enjoying the beautiful rewards they prepared for you!
