DON'T GET GOT - Nar'Gall

It has been a wild 24 hours since we released the very first early version of the game for you to enjoy, test and give us some direction on where the game should head towards in the next few weeks. Just 24 hours and we're already updating the game! Yes, here's a brand new update with some significant fixes and tweaks -- thanks to your feedback!

  • Host migration implemented. If the host player quits, the game ensures someone else takes over seamlessly, meaning the game doesn't end, it carries on normally.

  • On the Private Rooms, we removed the characters 0 and O from the 4 letters code as the font made them look quite alike, making it hard for you to figure out which character to use.

  • Players joining midway an ongoing game could get stuck (and alive) in the basketball court, essentially blocking matches from finishing. This has been fixed.- Some matches had positional voice chat disabled. This caused players to not be able to talk or hear one another, essentially draining the game from its social dynamics. This is now hopefully fixed.

  • Added photosensitivity notice at the main menu to warn people that this is a dark game with players carrying flashlights... What could possibly go wrong, right?

  • A bunch of smaller bugs and tweaks as reported by the players.
We have a lot more in the works for next week. Once the game has the major bugs and tweaks behind it, we'll do a balance pass (yes, we know it's hard... But should it be easier?) and move to new content afterwards. Thanks for all the feedback! Hope you escape the dolls!!!

Bounty: Drag Racing - KODgames
This is a long one but if you play at least once a week you should read so you have an idea of what's going on.

The Test Branch change done to Pro Mods and Radial 315 are to my liking (ignoring the braking issue) and I am satisfied with it.
What actually changed?
The grip levels were untouched, however tires are now very punishing if your car spins too much, it will want to kick out to the wall. This makes it so no longer can someone pull up with a tune that spins to the 330 and still goes rounds (As I have done in the past). Some people's turns are unaffected as they never spun before, but some like me had to really change the power management to stop spinning and be able to get down the track straight.

This change will be applied to all cars (one or two classes at a time, and after I fix the incontrolable braking), however doing so now would yield no change, the difference is only felt in conditions where there's more power than grip, which only pro mods can really do right now. All other classes are going to see changes gradually through the coming weeks, starting with Pro Imports and Outlaws. It will take time but every class is gonna get grip removed. I am very dissatisfied with the tuning on classes like Imports, Limited Street, Pro Stock, because they have more grip than power and become just putting all the sliders to max and driving it perfectly every race. I do not want this to be the case and as such I will be making core changes to each class to lower the grip to a level where it will actually take adjusting to track conditions to not spin.

This will be done as a preamble to the host tools that were teased earlier in the month. Right now these tire physics changes will still have people go down every pass because they have a tuneup for each track % where they know they won't spin (Due to how rigid the system is) When the new weather system gets implemented, good event hosts will be changing things and mixing and matching track prep/temps/air quality, to make events feel dynamic and make people actually tune for the conditions. Sharing tunes will be a lot less effective when each race's conditions are much more unique than just a track % that works the same across tracks.

Of course, removing grip is gonna affect ETs for those classes so they will slowly be adjusted to where they should be again. This process is likely gonna take a couple of months but there will be test branches to test regularly, and in the end will result in a better game for everyone.

The game will also continue to get quality of life fixes and UI improvements for a smoother experience.

Utopia Must Fall - Pixeljam Games
Hello all,

We recently found out that Utopia Must Fall has been nominated for "Excellence in Audio" for the upcoming Independent Games Festival, which is... kind of awesome!

Last time Rich and I went to the IGF was when Dino Run got nominated for Best Web Game back in 2008 or something.

Rich will be attending GDC this year, and we're flying John (Datassette) from London to San Francisco for the award ceremony and expo where we will be showcasing the game.

There is also an audience award that anyone can vote for, but voting ends on January 31st! Go check it out if you feel like giving a nod to Utopia: https://informa-tech.formstack.com/forms/27th_annual_independent_games_festival_audience_award

We're also *this* close to launching a major update to the game, more info on that in about a week...

Thanks again for the support,

-Miles @ Pixeljam

Phobies - GPSGI
Release 1.12 brings some big updates to our event system, and some new tools to help players maximize their event experience:
Additions
Faction Packs
  • Players now have the chance to acquire Faction Packs while events are active.
  • These packs include a near-guaranteed (97%) chance to acquire Phobies from the Faction featured in the active event. This provides players with new ways to acquire and upgrade Phobies cards that benefit their event progress.
  • The two pack types are:
  • Faction Scream Pack - This pack has similar reward odds to the existing Horrific Pack, and features 3 scratch cards and 135-345 upgrade cards dependent on whether a new Phobie is awarded.
  • Faction Dominion Pack - This pack has similar reward odds to the existing Dreadful Pack, and features 4 scratch cards and 279-783 upgrade cards dependent on whether a new Phobie is awarded.
  • Our first event using the updated system, Monster Mash, will give players an opportunity to acquire Monster Scream Packs and Monster Dominion Packs. Future events will focus on Dimensionals, Mechanicals, and Undead.

Updated Event Calendar
  • Events will now occur on a four-week cycle.
  • The updated schedule begins on Feb. 3rd with our Monster Mash event.
  • Reward tuning has been updated to give greater rewards to players over this longer active event period.

Milestone Skipping
  • Players can now use Coffee to “purchase” an event milestone and skip ahead to the next milestone in the list.
  • The is a useful option for players who feel they may be falling behind the pack in terms of event progress, or for players who’ve joined in on the event late.
  • Coffee costs will scale according to how far into the event the milestone occurs.

Ultimate VIP Pass
  • Players now have the option to purchase an enhanced VIP pass.
  • This Ultimate VIP Pass includes all the benefits of the Event VIP Pass, plus a bonus Faction Scream Pack for the featured event faction. Players will also earn double event points for all event tasks once the Ultimate VIP Pass is activated.
  • Players who have already acquired a standard Event VIP Pass can upgrade to the Ultimate VIP Pass for a discounted cost at any time during the active event.
