In case you missed it, here’s another roundup of Civilization VII news from the past week:
Civ Reveals: Qing & French Empire
The two next Modern Age civs are here! As Qing China, utilize the powerful Gusa unit to gain strength in large numbers, and rake in gold with imports - at the cost of science. Or, as the French Empire, take advantage of the unique ability to choose the Celebration effects for any government. Check out the full game guides on Qing and French Empire for all the details.
First Look: Lafayette
Revolutionary and diplomat, Lafayette joins Civ VII with strengths in culture and diplomacy, and a powerful ability that grants an extra Social Policy slot. Check out the game guide here for Lafayette.
Civ VII is Steam Deck Verified!

Coming up…
Tomorrow marks one month left until Civ VII launches on February 11! The road to release is paved with more reveals, including another First Look and two new Civs coming up soon. Also, keep an eye out for a brand new developer diary.
Which civs and leader do you think is next? Let us know, and we’ll catch you back here next week, Civ fans.
Added new Stat Mod: InstantTurnOnApplication. Get next turn immediately when applied.
Added new Stat Mods: Mult_APCosts, Flat_APCosts, Flat_AbilityAPCost. Same as the MP equivalents but for AP.
Loading/saving a project in Crystal Edit now overlays an indicator instead of opening a popup window.
Ctrl+W now closes the current tab.
StatusAuto Stat Mod now defaults to 100/1.
New localization features:
Added Export button to Mod Text Replacements tab. Exports all mod text replacements from the current localization mod, or exports all text introduced by the current non-localization mod for importing into a localization mod.
Added Import button to Mod Text Replacements tab. Imports a previously exported mod text replacements file.
Modding bug fix:
Fixed error in Crystal Edit when attempting to open an NPC with an action that adds inventory of negative currency.
Fixed rare bug where pieces could warp during flip inputs
Overhauled scene transition logic to avoid rare crashes
Snappier button hover sounds
Eliminated black flicker on avatar customization screen
Stability improvements
Last week, we made the piece flipping more lenient for players who hit the two buttons a few frames apart. But a very naughty player noticed you could abuse this in a very silly way to warp pieces across the playfield. Naughty, naughty! We've given the piece flipping behavior one more tweak to prevent further naughtiness.
There's also a handful more minor bugfixes and stability improvements here and there, including one more attempt to patch the elusive bug which is causing the game to suddenly exit after a puzzle. Let me know if you see any other weirdness, I'll try to get to the bottom of it!

I'm just making a quick announcement to let you know I'm working on a couple of shiny new yuri VNs (when am I ever not working on yuri VNs tbh haha...)
The first on the list is Her Love, Like Poison! It's a dour little VN set in the English countryside during the winter, so it'll be very bleak and cold and miserable!
It's a story about a university student, Ethel, who's struggling to muster up the enthusiasm to work on her thesis while girlrotting in her parents' home in a teeny-tiny village.
Stuck for inspiration, she goes for a wander in the woods late at night, and has an encounter with a mysterious girl who might be more than she seems.
This is a spooky VN with some sexual themes and body horror elements. It goes some rather dark places, but I don't think it's too unpleasantly awful. The character art was also done by the artist of It gets so lonely here!
And the second on the list is Bittersweet Blossoms. It's a historical yuri VN that takes place in England in 1919, a little after WWI.
Follow Dot, a young girl who lost both her father and her older brother in the war, as she starts working in the stately home of Bly as a maid. At Bly, Dot meets her sadistic young mistress, Patience, and the two begin an uneasy relationship.
This VN is a sequel of sorts to Blackberry Honey, though it takes place about 60 years after the events of BH. It might be an interesting read if you want to see what became of Bly over the years!
