This hotfix addresses a couple of bugs with events not finishing properly under certain circumstances (i.e. they are followed by another event) which results in escaping the black hole not awarding the Close Call achievement and a voice line not playing for the VUGSHERYOG event.
If you have already beaten the game and did not unlock Close Call and want to, the easiest method is likely to just start a new game in another save slot and play til you get the black hole event. The other option is to keep playing your save til you get it, but events repeat very rarely so it could take a lot longer.
I’m thrilled to share details about the upcoming update, which introduces major gameplay improvements and new features. Before diving into the specifics, I want to address the Gang Update schedule and apologize for the recent delay in updates.
Why the Delay? I know it’s been a while since the last update, and I want to apologize for that. The reason for the delay is simple: I’ve been working tirelessly to make sure this upcoming update is polished and packed with exciting features. I’m confident you’ll find it worth the wait!
Gang Update Schedule Previously, I mentioned a planned release date for the Gang Update, but I’ve decided to postpone it. This decision ensures that it will align seamlessly with the newly introduced Skill Tree System, enhancing your gameplay experience. The Gang Update will bring exciting features like gang missions, illegal activities, progression systems, and items from the gang store—all of which will integrate perfectly with the skill tree mechanics.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as I focus on making this the best possible experience for you!
What’s Coming in the Next Update?
Redesigned Header Bar
The top UI bar has been revamped for a cleaner and more visually appealing look, complete with new icons and visuals.
Shortcut Bar Improvements
The bottom shortcut bar can now be toggled on and off with the E key, freeing up valuable screen space for an uncluttered interface.
Skill Tree System
This update introduces the highly anticipated Skill Tree, adding depth and strategy to your gameplay:
Divided into three branches: Training, Economy, and Health.
Each branch has five progression stages, with the last two being Elite levels.
Earn skill points by leveling up through training and spend them to unlock powerful upgrades.
When Will It Arrive? The next update is almost ready and will roll out soon. The Gang Update will follow later, ensuring it’s fine-tuned and aligned with the Skill Tree System for a richer and more dynamic experience.
Thank you again for your patience and support. Your feedback means the world to me, and I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the new update!
Created an inventory screen for my RPG game Effulgence, made entirely of text symbols. Items are printed on a printer using resources, as are mechanisms and pets. There are three types of currency, and even characters themselves can be printed. I'm considering making it possible to print the printer itself.
Each character has several experience counters. For example, throwing grenades increases throwing experience. Once it reaches certain thresholds, you can upgrade throwing skills (at special locations), improving accuracy. Happy New Year, by the way! Got a bit too caught up in work.
Happy New Year, everyone! We’re excited to share some key updates and plans for the game as we step into 2025. Here’s what’s coming:
Special Door Feature If you’ve explored our hidden doors content, you know how thrilling it can be. If not—well, you’re in for a mysterious surprise! We’re introducing a Special Door that unlocks exclusive events and mini-games, adding new layers of excitement and unpredictability to your experience.
Localization Efforts We’re taking the game global! Spanish and French translations are in the works, with plans to expand to additional languages based on community feedback. Comment your preferred language so we can prioritize accordingly!
Enhanced Animations To make the game even more visually immersive, we’ll be adding new animations to bring key scenes to life. This upgrade will elevate the storytelling and enhance the overall gameplay experience.
Good Afternoon DLC The highly anticipated Good Afternoon DLC is in development! This expansion will continue the story while introducing new gameplay mechanics, offering both fresh content and deeper narrative exploration.
Please note: These updates are passion projects, and as a solo developer (most of the time), progress will be gradual. Balancing this work alongside a full-time job means these DLCs and features are crafted in my free time. Thank you for your patience and support—it means the world!
Here’s to an exciting year ahead, and as always, have fun! 🎮
Fixed bug where if you quit a game while injured then started a new game, your new character could inherit the bleedout effect.
Fixed bug where kind characters' objections to leaving woodcutters to their fate would cause an error.
Spelling error when petting a dog or kinklade now fixed.
Fixed rare bug where cities with names of under five characters would fail to have elections resolved properly or change rulers after sieges (causing game freezes at the end of siege battles) because the game was searching for an index in the city name rather than the city data.
Fixed bug where characters with underscores in their names wouldn't load saves properly by banning underscores from character names in future.
Fixed bugs where pets and dragons could get involved in normal campfire conversations and NPC romances.
Fixed bug where the info readout for a city army's unit showed you results for the equivalently numbered unit in your own army.
As ever, please do report bugs on the steam forum, or the official forum.
