Hello, everyone! As we near the end of the year, it's time to reflect and plan ahead. This festive post is dedicated to what 2024 brought us and what awaits INAYAH in 2025.
The Transformation of INAYAH This Year
This year has been incredibly challenging yet immensely productive. Much of what you see in the game today was created over the past 12 months. We revisited approaches, tested ideas, and reshaped the world of INAYAH.

Plans for 2025
Demo Update
We’re thrilled to announce our participation in the upcoming Steam Next Fest with a brand-new demo of INAYAH: Life after Gods! Expect significant changes: refined mechanics, more levels to explore, an expanded arsenal, and much more. We've taken player feedback into account to make the demo even better!
And there’s more! Based on the current demo, we’re creating a special Boss Rush mode, which will be available shortly after release.
Release Date Coming Soon
We’re preparing to announce the exact release date very soon. What we can share now is that the game will launch in the first half of 2025!
Animated Cutscenes
We’re adding a lot of new content to the game, including animated cutscenes to immerse you even deeper into the world of INAYAH. Stay tuned for details in future devlogs!
Epic Bosses and Progression
We’re working on over 20 unique bosses, each offering a distinct challenge. While more than 15 are already available in the early version, we’re focusing on balance and uniqueness for the remaining ones.
Additionally, we’re developing a robust progression system with over 200 passive talents, 50 implants, and 10 Injector flowers, giving you endless build possibilities and ensuring every playthrough is unforgettable.
World Exploration
Our levels are brimming with secrets and hidden items for you to discover. These will soon be available for beta testers and in the new demo.
Post-Launch Plans
After release, we aim to provide long-term support for INAYAH, including porting the game to all major console platforms, developing DLCs, and continually improving the game based on your feedback. Who knows - maybe we’ll even create a sequel someday!
Happy Holidays!
Our team is taking a short break to return in January refreshed and full of ideas. From all of us at INAYAH, we wish you happy holidays and a wonderful New Year! Thank you for being with us, and see you in 2025!
First of all, Merry Christmas! I hope it will give you a few days to relax and gather your strength. As for me, I want to deliver a wonderful game to you all, so I'll enjoy the holidays sometime later.
Today I’ll talk about the new character system in Dragon Ruins II.
The original featured only 4 stats, which worked just fine for a microgame. However, a bigger adventure demanded a deeper, more nuanced system, which had to stay true to the core of the original while providing options to players who wanted to master it.
Let’s take a quick look at it.
Character Stats
The game features 5 basic stats:
Strength (STR), determines the character’s physical strength
Dexterity (DEX), determines the character’s nimbleness
Magic (MAG), determines the character’s magical aptitude and resistance
Agility (AGI), determines the character’s speed
Vitality (VIT), determines the character’s resilience
This provided enough space to design characters with clear strengths and weaknesses. For example, the General is good at dealing and tanking physical damage at the expense of speed and magic resistance.
These stats, as well as equipment and skills, feed into the derived stats:
Max Health: determined by Level and VIT
Attack Power: determined by Weapon Attack and two stats associated with said weapon (e.g. Swords use STR and AGI)
Physical Defense: determined by armor and VIT
Magic Defense: determined by armor and MAG
Speed: determined by AGI and equipment weight
On each level up, 3 points are allocated between five stats depending on the character’s potential, which can sometimes lead to unexpected results. Basic stats can also be slightly adjusted with special equipment and skills.
Equipment
Characters have 4 equipment slots: Weapon, Armor, and two Accessory slots.
New equipment can be found while exploring the dungeon and can be upgraded at the Blacksmith.
Sometimes, the equipment has extra properties, like stat boosts/penalties, and the ability to inflict status effects, or status resistances. The game displays and highlights all important information when selecting which item to equip.
There are no restrictions on what items can be equipped, so you can adapt to ongoing situations if you have spare items, such as equipping blunt weapons while dealing with skeletons to dish out extra damage. At the same time, pay attention to the equipment's weight, as wearing heavy armor or weapons can slow the character down if they are not strong enough to wear said equipment.
If you just want to chill, you can focus on upgrading your stock equipment and equipping new accessories. If you want to power through the game, there are quite a few unique items that can lead to surprises if you’re willing to spend some time upgrading them.
Skills
The game features a simple skill system that allows you to shape your experience with the game. Characters start with one skill and can learn more every few levels. The initial limit was 8 skills, but after a while, it was lifted to 20 to account for NG+ and might be adjusted again before release depending on how playtesting goes.
Each skill is designed to work as a solution to a specific problem, and it’s up to you to determine which of the 5 skills offered upon level up works best for you. The game features over 50 skills ranging from simple stat boosts to modifiers to how battles, exploration, and interactions in town work.
A few simple examples:
Enemies hit you before you get a chance to strike? Get the Quick Draw skill.
Weak character is targeted by enemies a bit too often, even in the back? Get the Inconspicuous skill to make them less likely to get targeted by enemies.
The shopkeeper is too greedy? Get the Haggle skill!
Equipment weight is causing trouble? Get the Pack Mule skill.
Want to deal extra damage with swords? Get a Sword Mastery skill.
A fat boss is giving you trouble? Get a Paralyzer skill!
The list goes on, and even now, the game gets new skills every now and then as I test the game and find new opportunities the players might want to use and abuse.
Party
Just like in the original, the party consists of 4 characters, but here it was adjusted to allow party editing at any time. This way you can try different lineups until you find the combination that suits you best.
However, this design change means that characters are unique instead of archetypes that can be cloned to fill the entire party. To account for this, the game features more characters, which can be adjusted via equipment to suit whatever crazy idea you have for a playthrough.
Other News
Dragon Ruins II is about 80% complete at this point. The main content is mostly done, the bonus content is being developed, and the project is on schedule to come out in the first quarter of 2025.
I am testing the game on the Steam Deck and it runs flawlessly out of the box. One player said that the original Dragon Ruins was one of their favorite games for long plane rides, so I hope the sequel will not disappoint in that regard.
In the next DevLog, I’ll talk about the changes to exploration and the battle system — and there are quite a few changes that might interest you.

❄ Oh-oh-oh-oh! ❄ 🦌A small accident (Rudolph got his feet tangled up again, what a reindeer) caused Santa Claus' sleigh to collapse right onto New Year's Valley. The elves, who had spent years making toys for obedient children, took advantage of this to organize a riot! With the help of the lost toys, they plan to raise their own army and break their fellow elves out from under the tyranny of Santa Claus. But they'll need help to collect the toys - it's pretty dangerous for these little creatures in New Year's Valley.
The elves, loyal to Santa Claus, are also collecting toys to save New Year's Eve, so the freedom fighters try to get ahead of them.
🎄When you first enter the game, you can automatically join the rebels or the loyalists. Look for the rebel leader in Katana and the loyalist leader in Laxi to move to a special dungeon, New Year's Valley. When hunting monsters in the New Year's Valley, you will be able to get toys to turn in to your team leader.
The choice of valley depends on the level of your character - if you have not yet reached level 150, you can choose the White Valley, which is home to monsters from level 20 to 149. The Red Valley is for characters of level 150 and above. The Black Valley makes sense if your level exceeds 160, and the Obsidian Valley is not worth going to unless you have reached level 180.
The more toys you give up, the more the special effect that increases all characteristics except luck will grow. The effect is applied to you when you enter the game and also affects your creatures.
While the event lasts, on two different days, the winning team will be able to get access to a purified demonic outfit, already sharpened to +24 and valid for 3 days. But that's not all! In the New Year's Valley not only toys fall from the monsters, but also many useful things: Christmas decorative costumes, stamina stabilizers, bottles of the Fairy Goddess, potions of luck, a pass to the Hidden Village for 7 days, the blessing of the Maiden, the power of change: armor, armor of the conqueror of the Warped World, weapons and jewelry from the Circus and from the Island of Forgotten Gods, shields and jewelry from the Cursed Temple, blank cards of arena pets.
And the best part - from the final boss of the Black and Obsidian New Year's Valley you can get the Perfect Weapon Improvement Transfer Scroll!
The team with the most toys collected will receive a cloak or transformation potions.
Entry to New Year's Valley will close on January 16. Team Leaders will stay with you for another week so you have time to turn in your accumulated toys, and will disappear on January 23.
What are you waiting for? Let's go on a winter adventure!
Today we have merged the servers. Now the game will be more intense, and battles and battles will become even more exciting! After all, players of the servers “Panther-Hector” and “Marduk” will now play together in one game world, and therefore will find new friends and opponents!
The servers “Panther-Hector” and “Marduk” are united into a single server “Panther-Marduk” (PvP). ✨All characters, inventory, and everything that pertains to a character has been moved with it to the merged server. ✨After the merge, the 8 characters you logged in last are available. If the choice of characters does not suit you, delete the extra ones and use the standard procedure for restoring Rappelz characters / My character was deleted (for any reason). After the merge, the standard Rappelz character recovery procedure is available to all players, including non-GameXP Club members, up to and including January 9. ✨ The quick access panel has been cleared for all characters on the merged servers. To fill it up again, you will need to re-post skills and items to the panel. ✨When matching character names from merged servers, a postscript is added to the names of both characters. They will soon be able to find a Character Name Change Ticket in the Gifts section of the game store, thanks to which they will be able to change their name. ✨If the merged servers had the same guild names, the guild with the highest number of players will retain the name. The guild that had fewer players will see a postscript in the guild name. To change the name, you will need to write to tech support. ✨ The storekeeper only displays 1000 slots. If you do not find items from different servers in your chest after merging, you must pull items into your inventory so that there are less than 1000 items left in the chest and restart the game. If you do not find any items, write to tech support. ✨All items placed before the server merge on the in-game auction remain on the auction. If you do not find them, check the storekeeper. ✨GXP auction lots placed before the server merge will be returned to their owners. ✨ Dungeon ownership has been reset. It is necessary to recapture the dungeon. We wish you exciting adventures on the merged server!
A lot of heroes are ready to fight for the title of the best on the new server, and we are ready to reward those who will reach the top before others!
Who will reach the highest level before the others? Who will be the one who will be the first to step on the top? We hope you are ready, because we want to reward the most diligent of you! The first three players to reach level 180 will receive valuable prizes from us!
A pass to the hidden village for 30 days and 3 Vulcano keys can be yours!
At the start of the new server there is no room for rest and relaxation! Remember that while you are resting, your opponents are swinging and can beat you!
Stay tuned - after 180 levels are taken and winners are announced, we will start a contest to conquer new heights.
We are pleased to inform you about the opening of a new game world - “Haeron”! This means you have the opportunity to start the game on the same level as everyone else, on a new server with a pristine economy! Beginners and battle-savvy warriors alike will be able to start their journey in Rappelz from scratch, fighting side by side with monsters, banding together and competing for a place on the leaderboards!
What's available on the Haeron server: ⭐fanning with players of your level; ⭐ party hockey in dungeons like we used to have; ⭐ lots of people in starting locations; ⭐ a nice breeze of nostalgia.
What the Haeron server doesn't have: ⭐established tops; ⭐ “folders” that will keep you from swinging; ⭐ high-level pets (and tame pets in general!); ⭐inflation;
❗The Haeron server runs on a PvP model.
Level up and get the best equipment first on the server, create powerful guilds, fight for dominance at the entrance to the Cursed Temple and the right to own the dungeon!
We wish everyone who decided to start their adventures in the new game world “Haeron”, success and heroic victories!
We hope everything's looking festive wherever you are at the moment. If not, don't worry, we're bringing you plenty of reasons to celebrate.
Since we're closing another year, we thought it would be a good time to give you a little recap of everything we have accomplished in 2024 during the development of Oppidum. So jump in our time machine and let's get to it 👇
A big shoutout to our community 🤝
Back in January we got our Discord community together to have a private beta with our most loyal followers. We really enjoyed watching them play, learning their impressions and getting their feedback to improve upon a demo that was available during Steam Next Fest. Thanks to all the feedback we received, we were able to improve the game and get it to where it is today.
It's really amazing for us to watch people that are excited to play Oppidum, who look forward to it. So we wouldn't want to miss our chance to send a big shoutout to our Discord community, always ready to offer their support, and give you a reminder to join and help our little family grow larger 💙
The living world of Oppidum 🌍
Oppidum takes place in an island called Insule, blooming with magic and wildlife. So of course, it was only natural that we took our time to make it look and feel right.
We made sure to fill Insule with important landmarks, interesting spots to explore and places you will visit either by chance, or guided by the expansive story of the game. We want you to get familiar with this land, from the Gusty Hill to the Wetlands of Murmurs.
However Insule is not only a lush island, but a dangerous one as well. There are many perils waiting in your path for which you will have to be prepared.
Around this time of the year (that is roughly April) we finished programming and integrating the first version of every enemy in the game, which was a huge milestone!
Every enemy has their own special abilities or strategies needed to defeat them, so they will offer you a challenge and keep you on your toes.
Soon after, we integrated the weather system, to fully immerse you into the natural cycles of Insule. Personally, I think this added a lot of ambience to Oppidum, and we took the time to put a small video together showing you how this feels! 🌦️
And last but not least, Insule is more than its biomes and its dangers. It's also its people! NPCs started looking better than ever, and showing their full range of personality after we implemented animations and let them interact with their surroundings.
Time to showcase our progress 📸
Since the game was improving so much, we needed to do something about how we presented it to the outside world. For example, the Steam store was looking a bit outdated. So we jumped into the game, snapped a few pics and dressed it properly with some new videos and screenshots.
Here's how some of them compared:
And we couldn't have chosen a better time, since around this time, we got featured in a couple of articles from some important media outlets like PC Gamer, IGN and 3DJuegos!
We were beyond excited about these articles which, among other things, highlighted this extended gameplay video you can also watch on our Steam page.
A plethora of new things for the game ✨
At this point after Summer, we had a more than solid base, so it was time to start polishing and adding every extra feature we still hadn't had the chance to put into the game. For full context, here's a small comparison showcasing a small part of the work we had done from February 2023 to October 2024.
We took this time to include extra, but important features, such as fishing, horse-riding, and an improvement of our character customization, aside from many other things we're keeping hush hush for now 🤫
So what's next for 2025?
Well... you'll have to keep an eye on us and see for yourself!
We're at a polishing phase, integrating anything that's left and working hard on some big marketing pushes until release. Speaking of which...
Oppidum is set to be released during the first quarter of 2025 🥳 we will give some more definitive information in the future, once we're confident in a date, but we hope this gives you something to look forward to in 2025.
At this stage, we need your help more than we ever did. If you enjoyed this little recap of 2024, consider sharing it with friends, your favorite streamers, or post it to your socials, so others can also get excited about our progress and join the family. They're more than welcome tojoin our Discord as well! In the meantime, we'll keep working on it and sharing our process with you 🍃
And as a final send-off for this update, we want to leave you with a little tease of a new feature we’re working on. Any guesses on what this could be about? We think it will give you the opportunity to exhibit your knack for discovery 😉
From the EP Games team, we wish you a really Happy New Year! 🎇🎆
