- Fixed a bug in the Factory where the time glitch was not properly happening unless you quit + reloaded
- Fixed a game breaking bug in Factory where if you quit while the conveyors were in a loop, the game would get softlocked until you fully reset.
- Fixed a bug in the Military where equipping the anchor right after you flag move a unit would put the anchor in a bad state
- Fixed a bug in MRI where the final hint for missing gems wasn't properly given
- Fixed a bug where you couldn't click on artifact tabs if keyboard only mode was on

Ok so it was a pretty good week I made major improvement to the combat system making it so armor actually block damage, and all the heroes have ability's that hopefully make team building much more strategic and fun, I've also made it so that enemy's and heroes have the ability to miss and dodge.

the game is quickly approaching what I would call beta if this week goes good then ill consider announcing it officially and putting together a demo.

in this upcoming week I want to take my first pass at adding juice to the game, my plan is to try to make combat have a lot of particle effects (started particle system today) and also have messages telling the player everything that's happening and damage numbers everywhere. I also have to do another pass over combat and make sure hero stats effect all the stuff that's happening.

in this post I'm including pics of all the steam art assets I've made (which I'm actually pretty proud of) as well as some enemy flavor text since I've finished all of it.

  • Added Rat Dungeons. Occasionally a hole in the wall may spawn inside houses, to which is affixed a myserious nail. Incanting the strange words upon the nail, by right-clicking, will allow you to enter the Kingdom-under-the-Floorboards of Ratdom. "Plaguemaw's Chittering Labyrinth of Cheddar", "Gorgobrie's Deathless Nook of Villainy", and "Rennettigan's Rancid Basement of Brie", all await the intrepid adventurer!
  • Added "Yule Cracker". A new strange growth has sprouted on trees everywhere in the Hearth, in festive celebration of the season!

Small Fixes

  • Baby Reindeers now give "Suckling's Maw"s when butchered.

Just added japanese localization by Hiroshi Ashida, a fan of the game that offered to help!
If you would also like to translate the game to your language let me know.
I had to tweak some code to make it able to see japanese characters, but it looks awesome! Only thing is that you can't switch the font type with japanese language selected, unless you know legible and cool 'sci-fi' and 'pixel' japanese fonts I can use.

Also, explore the 3rd floor during Christmas eve and day for a little festive surprise :)

sphereFACE - Armchair Software
This is the first maintenance patch in four years! SphereFACE was first released in 2015, and a lot has happened since that time. We're excited to take a trip down memory lane with you.

While VoxelStorm no longer exists in its present guise, its spirit lives on in Armchair Software, started by the same founder. Most of VoxelStorm's old code has been released as open source (check out https://github.com/voxelStorm-Ltd/) and modernisations of these older projects are under way. The aim is to eventually release all VoxelStorm work as open source code for the benefit of the community!

The changes to sphereFACE since the last patch have been fairly minimal; as time has passed, bit-rot has set in to a small extent, so it's taken some work to get the game building and running with more modern systems. We've dropped support for 32bit linux (keeping it 64bit only), and likewise for obsolete MacOS versions. A 32bit Windows build is still available.

Various shared libraries used by sphereFACE have had many updates over the years, most notably VectorStorm - VoxelStorm's awesome vector maths library, now also open source! This release benefits from those improvements - bugfixes and performance boosts. There are also a couple of minor bug fixes, mostly around gamepad / joystick control.

While sphereFACE was always intended to be un-demanding to run on low-end hardware, ten years later, it can safely be said to be able to run with full performance on pretty much every computer still out there. A testament to the foresight and longevity of the unique original custom-built graphics engine designed specifically for this game!

Behind the scenes, the game is now built with a modern CMake pipeline, cross-compiling Windows builds on Linux. With continuous integration implemented on our back-end, future releases and incremental improvements should now be easier.
