Last patch of the year everyone! Japanese localization by Hiroshi Ashida, a fan of the game that offered to help! If you would also like to translate the game to your language let me know!
Also, explore the 3rd floor during Christmas eve and day for a little festive surprise :)
I wanted to say thank you to everyone picking up 24 Killers this season, and use this opportunity to remind people to leave a review of their experience! We're sitting at 272 reviews (98% positive) at the moment, and my dream is to get it up to 500 while keeping the same ration in order to get the "overwhelmingly positive" status on Steam. It helps greatly.
In other news, I'm working on an optimization update that will improve performance and memory use. I'm going back through old code and improving it with gusto. Some people are running into memory related crashes during long sessions and my goal is to stop that from happening. This will not halt your progress, but can be annoying and confusing. If you've experienced a crash or lock, it's likely due to this. Relaunching the application will clear the memory and let you continue on. This is a good preventative measure too if you're deep in the shabbyverse of 24K.
Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!
Some users are experiencing an issue where, after starting a mission, the camera shows the sky, and no further progress can be made.
- This issue has not been reproducible in the current development/QA environment, making it difficult to address. - Based on the bug video you provided, we have added safety and bypass codes to the potentially problematic logic. - If the issue persists in this version, we apologize, but could you provide the CPU, memory, and OS information of the affected computer to help us fix the bug?
Daily Puzzle! Try puzzles selected from the DLCs (except the Adult Pack) against the clock. A different puzzle is selected each day. If you can get to seven in a row, there's an achievement that will unlock for you. There's even a new leaderboard of the highest streaks!
User Pack 08. Forty-five new puzzles from players like you. Next pack will be sometime after I have 50 new puzzles submitted. Get creative folks!
Fee Pack 01. Special guest pack by the most prolific creator so far, Fee. Some really great puzzles amongst the 40 included. Don't miss them, and a huge thank-you to Fee for making all these.
Themed background props for the DLC packs. Some are animated, all have random variations. All have perches for Arthur Owl to sit and watch you puzzling away.
A random selection of players who contributed to the User Pack you're playing show up in the background, while the puzzle's creator watches from the side.
Added "Changes requested" as a new status for submitted puzzles.
Bug fixes
Fixed a few typos (Thanks Fee and HBR)
Added CROWBAR to the Half-Life puzzle. A heinous oversight on my part! (Thanks HBR)
Fixed startup order so that achievements get reported only after your account has been connected. This is to cover a rare case where you got an achievement in the game, but it wasn't reported to Meta/Steam for some reason. When the game starts, it should report all your achievements again. It was always meant to do this, but I didn't realise it was broken.
Fixed volume of intro dialogue. You only hear this once as a new player, so it's gone unnoticed for a while!
We have seen the return of Christmas, please visit Emperor Tâgfrik, of Tâgileim for presents. Weather has come to Erasan, with snow and rain in many regions. Potions can now be brewed in larger quantities. Players that own a house can now benefit from a resting bonus. Loot table changes, that improves the hunting experience. Thank you all for a great year!
CHANGELOG
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Emperor Tâgfrik, of Tâgileim, has decreed that it is time for the holiday spirit! Be sure to wish him a "Merry Christmas" next time you're nearby.
The Duzmukm dwarves, who trespass still on the northern-most parts of the Tâgileim mines, have long shunned these seasonal festivities. This year they went as far as to steal a whole shipment of candy canes! Emperor Tâgfrik is offering special gifts in exchange for the un-nibbled return of the candy canes.
WEATHER
Weather has come to Erasan. A festive sign, say those in the northern regions, as the snow falls.
BREWING
Potions can now be brewed in much larger quantities at a time (up to 1000).
The brewing window bottle slot now requires that bottle(s) be inside it to brew successfully.
ITEMS
Slightly increased the frequency of mithril ore drop rates.
Demonskin Robe had its stats increased.
Demonskin Boots nature bonus re-added.
Removed Elosia Leaf from the NPC Ross Banum.
Added description to archery ammunition to show whether it's for bow or crossbow.
Item types now all have similar formatting.
MAP
PVP has been enabled in all boss content areas, this will help resolve camping or blocking spawns. Please let us know if a certain area needs to be further addressed.
Environmental fire damage now stacks. Total damage is unchanged; this simply brings these into line with how other environmental effects are set up.
The standard death penalty now applies in PVP areas, including the new boss areas, but not in the arena.
Fixed shop related crashing bug - when walking away from shop with the action window open.
Added a loot channel to show loot data without being in a party.
Client crashing bug caused by (multi) targeting.
Targeting cursor when using with, now properly using windows default.
Add setting to hide item types.
Closing loot channel no longer kicks you the game.
Minimap close button no longer overlays hover tooltip.
Added 'Create up to 20 characters' to the stated list of Noble account benefits.
MONSTERS
Adjusted dwarves defenses to be more in line of their level range.
Various performance optimizations on monster behavior.
Bargura now heals a little if its only target is inaccessible and not in line of sight (as it did already when it has no target).
LOOT
We recently added support for a different way to handle monster loot. Previously, every item in a monster's loot table could theoretically drop from the same monster; but equally, nothing might drop. The aim with the new system is to reduce the 'RNG factor' here. We are still trialing this system.
HOUSING
Being inside a house now grants very fast HP/MP regen.
Being inside a house now gradually grants a 'rested' bonus (when online and offline), lasting up to a maximum of 2 hours.
When rested, loot reduction based on monster level no longer applies.
Our intention with this feature is that it'll eventually provide a flat % bonus (e.g. to experience/loot).
Fixed players logged out in a house for 25 days or more could no longer log in due to a bug in the rested buff (hotfixed: 2024-11-01).
PVP
Allow pushing (but not swapping) in all PVP-enabled areas.
ART
Mayhem set graphics updated.
CLERIC
Smite no longer heals enemies in PVP.
NPCS
Fixed various minor NPC bugs, trailing spaces, and missing responses.
We've added the option to launch the game in DirectX 11 mode for players with lower-end PCs or those experiencing performance issues. You can now choose between DirectX 12 (High Performance) and DirectX 11 (Low Performance) when launching the game.
If the mode selection window doesn’t appear when you start the game, please try restarting Steam and make sure to launch the game directly from the Steam interface, not from a desktop shortcut.
