Dear HeadArrow Players and Community,

I want to take this opportunity to thank you all for everything we’ve achieved together in 2024. This year has been a true life-changer for me, as I’ve been able to dedicate myself fully to developing HeadArrow and creating unforgettable experiences with games like Doll Impostor, 8AM, The Last Stop, and many more.

I’ve prepared a short recap video featuring some of the year’s most memorable moments. While I couldn’t include every streamer who supported our games, I’ve selected some of the most famous clips from each title to celebrate how far we’ve come together. I hope you enjoy it!



I’m deeply grateful to everyone who’s been there since the very beginning, offering feedback, reporting bugs, and helping our games achieve the quality they deserve. A special thanks goes to the translators of Doll Impostor, whose incredible work has brought our vision to players all over the world. I’d also like to recognize the testers and players who take the time to report issues and improve the experience for everyone. You are an essential part of our success!

This year marks the beginning of something big for HeadArrow. We are already working on at least five new launches for 2025, including more updates for Doll Impostor, spin-offs of 8AM in new settings, and entirely new titles, some in the horror genre and others in different styles. Additionally, seasonal updates for Pre-Halloween, Halloween, Pre-Christmas, and Christmas are now automated and will return every year to keep the experiences fresh.

For all these successes, and for all the ones yet to come, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. May you have a happy new year, full of fun, creativity, and new adventures! I can’t wait to continue sharing this journey with you.

On the 8th of December update v2.0 will be made public! It will still be free to play so don't worry. I have made quite a lot of changes to the game, based on suggestions I have received. Just a few more quick updates as reported in Discord

  • The energy counter can show higher than 999 energy now (won't matter to most people)
  • Reserve Bank wording has been updated to explain it grants the gold at the start of the shop phase, and I added a quick visual next to the augment to show it activating.
  • Mouse Controls: If you Highlight a weapon in your inventory that has a special tag applied such as "Optimized" and then move to the synergy bar, the tag will no longer obstruct the "Unit's Needed" quantity
SHAPE SHIFTER - CodeVex
While working on the new tutorial levels, I felt some things were missing. So I added them!

New Additions

  • Added the reset gate, which will set gravity back to normal and delete all square clones when passed by the player
  • Added the force shape gate, which will automatically shapeshift the player to a shape specified in the inspector
  • Added a slider in the editor level settings to change the shape ability cooldown time
  • Added an achievement for when upload your first level

Changes

  • Updated the cursor in the editor to keep displaying position and block name even when a block is selected to be placed. This is to help better differentiate between placed blocks and selected blocks
  • Tweaked the controls when the gravity is switched and 'no camera rotation' is set to off
  • Rebound move controls from the arrow keys to the numpad arrows to avoid confusion - players aren't supposed to use the arrow keys because the game makes heavy use of the mouse cursor. Lefties can still play, using the numpad arrows instead (I'm not sure how this change will work out, I'll change it back if people don't like it)

Bugfixes

  • Fixed a bug where clicking 'cancel' on the selection tools in the editor would select the block behind the cancel button (oops)
  • Fixed a bug where Steam Workshop thumbnails would be wrongly assingned when quickly switching between tabs
  • Fixed a major bug where you couldn't join a friend lobby if the level name was different on both sides
  • Fixed a bug where 'reset to last checkpoint' would only work half the time

The soldier interface allows soldiers to customize their names.
The soldier interface has added the function of using attribute results.
The soldier interface has added the function of editing different types of troops and unlocking talents with one click equipment.
Nowadays, the deployment and construction of buildings are no longer done once a month, but rather require physical exertion. Players can choose their own number of battles and constructions for this month.
Strategy no longer consumes action power, but instead consumes reconnaissance points and money.
Now in battle, you can adjust the game speed and pause the game.
The supplies can be used with shortcut keys.
After the battle, the troops withdrew. The drop of talent equipment depends on the difficulty.

Now, here's something important I gotta tell you all



Let me come forward and share my latest L with you all. TL;DR: there's no Butt Slapper team anymore. It's just me now, like the good old days (a month ago).

What happened?

Nothing dramatic, just a mix of personal life decisions and money. Let's just say, I can't really afford a team :'V

What does this mean for Butt Slapper?

I'm going to scale development down. I won't work on new features, unless they're really necessary.

I'm also probably not going to fix the issues with the Butt Exchange system; because it's a very complex programing task that goes beyond my skills as a developer (in my defense, Valve's Inventory Service is REALLY complex to work with).

And I will very likely not do custom hand skins.

Will the game keep getting updates?

Yes. I will keep making content. That is, Butts, events, backgrounds and art.

What will you focus on then?

While I'm going to reduce the time I spend developing Butt Slapper, I will start pouring more resources into my next projects. That is mainly Desktop Pets.



Sorry about the bad news! Things sometimes don't work the way you plan them. But my love for this project and my commitment to the community isn't changing. As long as you keep enjoying this little game, I'll keep making new content.
