Hi everyone! Here's Version 1.81 of Knights of the Chalice 2.

It fixes a few bugs (including a problem with Dispelling weapons that could cause a crash) and improves the Gladiator's Blinding Strike by adding extra damage (one point per two levels). The Gladiator's feat Improved Blinding Strike is also improved. Thank you so much Christoffer for all the bug reports!

  • Fixed a bug that could cause a crash when targeting a ranged-touch spell and your mage is holding a Dispelling weapon. When calculating the percentage to hit the target with the spell, the game was resetting the current spell to Dispel Magic, due to the Dispelling effect.
  • Added a note in the help entries for Hit Points, Sweltering, Freezing and Underwater saying that, on a map with continuous damage, unconscious characters don't return to one Hit Point automatically after combat because they cannot rest properly. They do recover when you leave the dangerous map.
  • The Monk's Dodge Bonus from Wisdom will now take into account the character's Generic-type bonuses to Wisdom, if any. Previously, only the highest enhancement bonus was taken into account.
  • Fixed a bug with the Gladiator feat Powerful Blinding Strike I.
  • The Gladiator's Blinding Strike attack will now deal damage equal to the character's normal damage plus one point per two levels. Also updated the help entries of the Gladiator and Blinding Strike ability.
  • Improved the Gladiator feat Improved Blinding Strike. In addition to increasing the duration of the Blindness effect, it will increase the Blinding Strike Difficulty Class by one point. Updated the help entry for the feat Improved Blinding Strike.
  • Added some links in the help entries of the other Gladiator feats associated with the Blinding Strike ability.
  • Updated the in-game chart of subraces, in the help entry about subraces, with a line concerning the Aviara Elf.
  • Updated all the dialogue scripts that had the text "please click on the image below". This is incorrect now that the image can be displayed above the text rather than below. The scripts were both in the module Augury of Chaos and in the Tutorial Adventure.
  • Expanded the script command Set module property to allow a module's introduction script to distribute basic clothing (but no weapons) to the party members. If you want to include basic weapons, please use the Distribute equipment script command instead.

This first Early Access patch brings a collection of fixes and tweaks to make your next dragon ride even smoother.

✨ Improvements Based on Player Feedback

  • Base walk speed has been significantly increased for all player characters.
  • Dashing in the Hall of Relics is now faster and snappier.
  • Rerolls are now much more player-friendly:
    - Costs reset upon leveling up (!)
    - Adjusted formula for better scaling.
  • Arcane Mutators that previously cost gold to equip during a run are now free!
    - Since you already paid for unlocking them in the Hall of Relics, this double charge felt unfair. I agreed, so it’s been changed.
  • Reworked the Quest Reward UI for better clarity, making it easier to see where you can redeem rewards (auto-redeem is coming in a future update).
  • Expanded upgrade outcome previews to include spell categories for better planning.
  • Improved text colors in Arcane Mutator upgrades for easier readability.
  • Settings are now saved using a new system to prevent conflicts with playtest/demo builds.
  • Added a feedback button to pause menus where it was previously missing.


🔧 Tweaks

  • Dash mechanics tweaked for better balance.
  • Various small balance adjustments across abilities and gameplay.


🐞 Bug Fixes

  • Improved boss AI movement, addressing a bug where Luminor could dart off over long distances.
  • Fixed unreliable item unlocks, ensuring more upgrade choices are now visible.
  • Resolved an issue where some upgrades appeared transparent.
  • Fixed controller UI navigation glitches.
  • Boss enemies are now cleared more aggressively when starting or leaving a game.
  • Quest board icons now update more reliably.
  • Area text now hides faster when paused in the Hall of Relics.
  • "During a run" achievements are now tracked more accurately.
  • Fixed missing metadata for the "Crimson Crown" item.
  • Improved item data handling for smoother gameplay under the hood.
  • Fixed display and logic issues with the mutator upgrade option view.

🌐 Localization

  • Updated German translations for better accuracy and style.


📜 Content & Other Updates

  • Added three new quests to enrich gameplay.
  • Updated credits to include new collaborators, including translators and awesome helpers.

Hello Node Farmers!

I am happy to announce a new update - v1.4!
This time I focused on making the game more customizable!

From now on - you can enable/disable features that affect the difficulty level of the game based on your personal preferences!

Let's take a look at the changelog:

Major changes
  • New: Difficulty levels added. The difficulty level is calculated based on the game modifiers players can choose when starting a new run (all of them in the next points)
  • New: Configurable: Clickers - manual click on the production node and the multiclicker can be disabled/enabled now - it makes the game much easier, especially at the beginning.
  • New: Configurable: Strict Kitchen - this option enables/disables the strict preprocessing requirements for the kitchen. If enabled - you have to provide resources processed in the order specified by the recipe. It makes the recipes more complicated.
  • New: Configurable: 2x Buff range - if enabled - it will reverse the previous updates that make the buff range 2x smaller. The game is much easier to play this way.
  • New: Configurable: Money Bags - they can be enabled or disabled now.
  • New: Configurable: Global multiplier modifiers - I removed them in the previous update, but now they can be enabled or disabled. They are making the game MUCH easier if you have the reroll enabled too.
  • New: Configurable: Rerolls - similar as above - they can be enabled or disabled now.
  • New: Configurable: Eternal Hunger - it can be enabled or disabled now (eternal hunger means that the boss is eating provided resources over some time).
  • New: Configurable: Harder Bosses - something new - bosses are much harder. They require more resources and consume resources faster if the "Eternal Hunger" is enabled. Very Hard - for more advanced players (if the Eternal Hunger is enabled).
  • New: Configurable: Different Shapes - also something new - standard islands will appear in different shapes and sizes. A little harder game, but more interesting

Minor changes
  • Bug: node connection collision was not inconsistent - fixed
  • Bug: outdated connection colors removed (purple)
  • Bug: one-way-road was broken after moving connected nodes in a specific way - fixed
  • Change: The number of available islands in the island shop increased to 9
  • Improvement: highlight the side if the neighboring nodes are not connected - can be disabled/enabled in the settings menu (disabled by default)
  • Change: All buffs/logic nodes can be placed on any type of terrain; roads can be placed anywhere but the hole - it was a little annoying in some cases that the player couldn't do it
  • Change: The black connections cannot be created anymore - they caused a lot of confusion for new players
  • Bug: fixed missing translations

The default difficulty settings are set based on the previous game versions. When you start a new run, you can change whatever you like, so don't worry about broken saves/runs :)

Updated the Corruption denimator curve from 25k>40k value per 100%. This change is meant to provide a more satisfying corruption RNG+ system grind for the moment, we are actively looking at ways to reward individuals who achieve crazy corruption scores in a match.
