When liminal spaces started gaining popularity back in 2020, there was one level that always stood out to me: Level 94 (Eternal Suburbia). There’s just something about its unique atmosphere—that feeling of “I’m not sure if I want to stay here or run away”—that made it one of the most iconic levels in the liminal spaces genre. So, when the time came for me to design it, I was determined to do it justice.
Designing this map was no easy task. I wanted exploring this level to feel just as immersive and genuine as Dreampools, while still giving it its own identity and maintaining the coherence that made the first map so unique.
But I believe I’ve created something that will exceed all expectations. I’m convinced this map is the most faithful representation of the Dreamcore aesthetic. I want this project to become a reference point for the genre—something that leaves a lasting impression and makes people say, “Okay, this is completely different from anything I’ve seen before!” I’ve poured my heart into every corner, every texture, and every interaction, hoping you’ll feel the same way I do when you explore it. I’m confident that I’ve crafted something truly special, something capable of breaking boundaries in this genre. Very soon, you’ll be able to explore it for yourself, and I can’t wait to see your reactions. I’m sure what I’ve created will captivate you just as much as it has captivated me while making it.
We have just updated our demo to fix some issues and bugs, mainly the slow loading screen issue that has now been resolved.
Changes and Fixes: - Potential fix to the Slow Loading Screen issue, now the game should load significantly faster. - Game installation package size reduced by around 2 GB. - Fixed some issues with UI. - Fixed an issue that produced slow framerate when loading and unloading most parts of the levels. - Fixed some doors having wrong sounds/no sounds at all. - Fixed an issue that cause the final cinematic for the Parking Demo to not disable the player's model. - Add a new text label on the "before you play" menu for the Parking Demo so it shows the keybind for the flashlight.
Known Issues: - The main menu background remains completely black when coming back from the Parking Demo.
I just wanted to drop in a let everyone know we are still hard at work developing the full game, here's what we have added so far that will be available in the full game.
Including some of the most requested additions: * Moving items (without having to sell/buy) * City mode (sits at the side of your screen instead of the bottom as a tall block of flats/apartments.) * 6 Careers * 6 Characters (with their own Fulfillment quests) * Ability to open both tabs at the same time * Overarching town progression system * Ability to name the town, and name the characters too. * Ability to place certain items outside
Here's a quick look at "City mode":
In other news, we reached 27,000 wishlists! Thanks so much for your support. <3
This patch is focused on just fixing some bugs and unintended behaviors.
Red Gunner's Defend now gives the player true i-frames when inside the collision radius
Updated bullet animations that were still blinking even when the bullet blinking setting was turned off
X Gunner no longer continues to create bullets in between phase transitions in Dark World
When completing the data tower section of Azuria, it is now no longer possible to clear the segment and also have the building still explode and kill the player
TLB special weapon no longer does half damage when positioned very close to the boss (Could've potentially led to a scoring exploit that's not particularly fun to execute so we wanted to remove this before anyone else found it)
Green Gunner can no longer use their special again while another special is currently active (The only spot this was possible was in Dystopia, and total scoring potential should not be changed as the duplicate specials did not produce additional medallions)
Updated font issues when exceeding 1 billion points
Prevented System Hack Options from dealing damage to bosses during dialogue
Fixed memory leak when letting the game idle on textboxes
Violet normal sword hitbox size increased horizontally by 10 pixels
Violet special sword hitbox sizes increased significantly. (Existing version was unintentionally very small)
King Crimson hurtbox extended significantly
Dark World boss hurtboxes adjusted (Some were much larger than they should've been)
Fixed some issues where training mode wasn't clearing objects when looping
Improvements: -In the ending map, now there is a lot more tree -And a lot of oher smaller things
Bug Fixes: -Now chapter 6 puzzle is not impossible to solve -In chapter 4 a glass changed t o be unbreakable, so the puzzle is not broken. -And a lot more!
⚡ Exciting news—we’ve completed development on the Shop for The Chronicles of Overlord! It’ll be available in the next release, 0.0.2 (more on that soon!).
In the Shop, you’ll find Wemun’s wares, including scrolls 🥐, items 🍔, artifacts, and flasks 🍺. We considered adding crafting as a feature but decided to hold off for now—maybe in a future update!
What do you think an alchemist like Wemun should be selling? (Besides moonshine, of course! 😉) Share your ideas!
