The MODKIT just got big update to support all recent project changes related to Transport & Locomotion major update. Prepare yourself to unleash your creative side!
The documentation is now updated, showing new functionality. Please check this useful guide that shows step by step how to create a mod for the game, zip it and then share it with the community {LINK REMOVED}https://bit.ly/AstroColonyDoc
I would love to post a tutorial about modding and simplicity of using Modkit 2.0.
Sharing your creations
To share your creations or find Mods, you can use two platforms Steam Workshop or Curseforge in the modkit!
MODS can be uploaded from Editor
In the modkit there are now 3 possible actions (buttons) located in the toolbar menu:
Create MOD
Package MOD - creates zip which can be tested and uploaded
Upload MOD (new) - uses Steam authentication to upload mods to CurseForge
Uploading mods becomes extremely easy. It only requires running Steam in the background, which will let you send mods directly to your Steam Workshop & CF library, at the same time sharing them with Astro Colony community!
Modkit has 100% functionality of the game, so you can do crazy stuff with it, like:
designing new voxel planets
creating space stations
defining new recipes
adding new devices
overriding game rules
Please join Discord modding channel where you can share your thoughts and get modding advises. Expect more announcements soon regarding modding contests.
I cannot wait to see your creations! See you soon Colonists!
If you want to experience the new content - be sure to pay a visit to the Hermit at Hermit Hectare on the starting planet (Hara).
This story is a linear story, which is refreshing. I experimented with mostly voice dialogue rather than text boxes. Let me know how you like it?
Some of the major new things - A new level which looks at going back to the past - Story about your ancestors - A city environment - Warp Speed can be used on planets (will consume energy) - Flight Speed quest is changed slightly - A new system for transformation (story related) - New Skills - New Armour
While the patch is complete there are still things not present in this patch which I will list below.
- No subtitles for dialogue (this will be added in soon) - Building/City Destruction, I am still working on this. The performance of the destruction wasn't up to my liking so I am still working on this. - Barber to change hairstyles
The City Destruction looks like it will take me awhile to get down right so I decided to put this patch up now for those waiting. Please enjoy!
The Steam NEXT fest has ended and there has been more players than expected. I thought I would get drowned by all the other games and would have no chance without marketing. Maybe typing games are just a niche that interested players will still find.
So I have a small update and improvements for the demo version of the game. Some I noticed myself after playing and seeing all your scores. Also some feedback of yours has helped me improving the game.
Leaderboard
A major point was also that you lost your leaderboard rank if you start a new game which defeats the purpose of the leaderboard. I don't know why I did that, maybe because I didn't have a way to save the score. But I've now added a local score too, so you can now try to beat your own score.
I changed the friends leaderboard to local ranks. I don't think it makes sense to show the global rank there.
I did a rework of the leaderboard to make it less cramped. You can actually read some of the username now!
Steam Cloud Save
I'm not sure how many of you got that error with the Steam Cloud, but there was some kind of problem uploading the save files which I didn't really understand since I've done nothing different than my first game where it works without any problems.
So I've now implemented my own system within the game to save the game on Steam Cloud. Hopefully it doesn't cause any problems. If there are any bugs, you can disable Steam Cloud temporarily for the game and submit a bug report within the game.
Some Quality of Life Improvements
Added a warning before quitting your job
Reset the word using backspace too instead of just ESC
Moved email to the top screen so it doesn't block the words
You can scroll using the keyboard now!
I've adjusted the difficulty of the levels a bit, so more people might reach higher levels and try the features. There is also now a promotion tip at the end of the day which tells you what needs to be improve to reach the next level. It's now just the WPM that decides that.
Thank you again for all the players trying out the demo! The feedback has been helpful deciding which direction to go for the game. And the interest has been motivating to keep working on the game. I hope it will turn into a great typing game that meets your expectations!
First of all, I wanted to thank you all for the fantastic NextFest the game had! More than 3000 people played the demo, and I received a ton of great feedback, as well as some really kind words. My motivation after this festival couldn't be higher, and now I'll try my best to deliver the best game possible!
So the next step will be the early access release, and for it to be successful one thing I'm sure of is that I need as much feedback as possible during the development process. That's why I've been using the playtest feature of Steam and I'll continue to do it, and I need new testers!
I won't directly make the playtest branch public and I'll leave the demo for now. So to access it, just join the game Discord server: https://discord.com/invite/ZzkqDPWzCf
Then send me a message or ask into the "feedback" channel and I'll send you a key to join!
The first new feature I added is the procedural map generation process, and I would love some feedback about it!
MonopixelArt here (I’m a 2D pixel artist and game developer), and this is the official announcement of my very first pixel art horror game!
Over the last three months, I've had the chance to polish every aspect of the game to a level I’m proud of, and as a result, I’ve created a demo that’s now publicly available! I’d be so grateful if you’d give it a try and add the game to your wishlist it would mean a lot to me!
My plans moving forward include:
-Improving what’s already in the demo. I didn’t want to reveal everything just yet, but I have some exciting mechanics that are nearly finished. -Completing the story and delivering a well-rounded game.
I’ll be sharing devlogs with you here to keep you updated on the development process!
When will the full game be ready?
Initially, I planned to create a 30-40 minute game and release it in November or December this year. But I’ve decided to go a bit further and develop a deeper story, aiming for a 1.5-2 hour gameplay experience with multiple endings.
To stay on track and ensure everything is polished, I'm moving the game’s release from December 2024 to February 2025.
Plus, February marks the next edition of Next Fest, which would be a great opportunity to promote and launch the game.
Finally, a huge thanks to everyone who has provided feedback, recorded gameplay, or simply added the game to their wishlist, you’re amazing!
Stay tuned, and I’ll be back soon with the first devlog update.
