Hi all, We just wanted to keep you all in the loop, the game was planned to be released today however there are a few small changes required before it can be approved for release on Steam.
In order to have the build approved we need to complete the translation work on the Book of Shadows and adjust a few settings such as controller support in the store page as it isn't working on the in game menu correctly.
We're pushing a new upload to Steam this evening which will hopefully get approved quickly and then we can let you guys have some Carnival fun. Realistically though, it may be delayed until this Halloween weekend before the Early Access release comes out, we are hopeful it get's approved sooner.
We’re thrilled to announce the Pre-Winter Premiere—a new patch packed with updates and improvements. It took us a bit longer to get this version out, but we believe it’ll be worth the wait!
Improved Tutorial Experience
As a new game, we want to ensure that all players can easily dive in and enjoy. We’ve reworked the tutorial based on tons of feedback to make it more accessible. You’ll find better pacing, voiced lines, and a softer, more digestible presentation of mechanics. These enhancements aim to make learning the game clearer and more enjoyable—perfect for newcomers and those still deciding.
Introducing PvE Story Campaign
Instead of jumping straight from the tutorial to practice or multiplayer, you can now test your skills in our new PvE story campaign. Play against improved bots and enjoy a narrative-driven experience with generous rewards. The campaign provides enough resources to craft at least two additional leads beyond the starter deck, which offers even more ways to experiment with team combinations. We’ve also added guides for deckbuilding, crafting, and missions to support your journey as a budding movie director in ScreenPlay.
Daily Missions UI Overhaul
You spoke, and we listened! We’ve redesigned the daily missions UI based on player feedback, making it easier to track and claim rewards. We hope this change makes your daily quests more enjoyable and fulfilling.
Enhanced Rank Badges
Our previous rank badges were placeholders, but this update brings a visual upgrade. We want you to feel proud of your rank and enjoy showcasing your directorial prowess. While they may see further refinement, we hope you enjoy the new look.
Match Reconnection Feature
We’re introducing a match reconnection feature, allowing you to resume matches in case of crashes, disconnections, or desyncs. This ensures a smoother and more reliable gameplay experience, so you can stay focused on directing your masterpiece.
Bot Improvements
The bots have been improved to provide a fun experience, especially for new players. They now offer a good challenge up to the first 2-3 ranks, helping players sharpen their skills.
Early Match Emotes
Players can now send default emote messages during matches. This is an early version of the feature, with more exciting emotes and customization options coming in future patches.
Other Improvements
New vfx for Noir Thinking
This patch also includes upgrades to card art, VFX, and sound FX, with more enhancements planned for future updates. We’ve also addressed numerous bugs, with special thanks to our community for their helpful reports.
What’s Next?
In the coming patches, you can expect further bot improvements, new cards, a draft mode, in-game tournaments and one more special mode. Plus, we’re working on additional VFX, animations, and new card art to keep enhancing your experience.
We hope you enjoy this update! Spread the word, and let us know what you’d like to see in future patches. Thank you for being a part of ScreenPlay—we’re excited to have you with us on this journey!
I want to let you know that Kosmolaris now has Steam integration and achievements. 🥳
It might have seemed obvious, but it wasn’t. Since the game is built in HTML+CSS+JavaScript and packaged with Electron, I didn’t have a decent SDK to integrate it with the Steam API—until I found https://github.com/ceifa/steamworks.js, which made my life so much easier.
Now the game is fully integrated with Steam, featuring overlay, achievements, and more.
Status Update
One of the cool improvements I thought of adding was updating the player's status on the friends list, which shows how many Common and Special elements you've unlocked in real time.
Achievements
Additionally, I adapted the in-game achievements for Steam so we can all get that much-needed dopamine hit while playing. 🤪
The achievements are divided into 3 categories (or 4, if you count the first one):
Common: These are regular achievements, earned by progressing and unlocking both common and special elements.
Milestone: These are awarded when you reach a certain number of unlocked elements.
Rare: These achievements are considered unique or rare due to their novelty or virtue.
Ultra Rare: These are hard-to-unlock achievements due to their complexity.
These types of achievements only have these categories within the game, but for Steam, they’re all the same.
UI Improvements
Alongside the Steam achievements integration, I also had to add images to each achievement as it was required. I took the opportunity to give this section a facelift and reused the images inside the game as well. Plus, the interface received a significant upgrade, as the previous window had very small text.
Additionally, all windows have been adjusted to adapt to different screen sizes.
What’s next?
I'm considering looking into how to integrate Steam Cloud. I’m not making any promises, but I'll investigate it. While it's not something I'm losing sleep over, it wouldn't hurt to implement it.
I'm excited to announce that Void Whispers has been localized into French, thanks to the incredible help of Miel/M.E. We now have a French version available for our French-speaking players. I hope you all enjoy the experience. Thank you!
Commanders, you have done an excellent job! It's time to wrap up this round of the Screenshots contest and show you the results. We looked through several hundred submissions - and the choice was not easy in either category.
As a reminder, the winners in each category will receive 500 Gold and a unique "War photographer" portrait, while commanders whose works are selected for the "Jury Prize" will receive just the portrait. Thank you for your amazing and unique works!
