Introduction

Hello, I’m Pencil, the lead for boss and scenario design on ChaosBringer. Starting today, I’d like to introduce our game and share the development process through a series of posts.

First, I’m excited to share some great news! The Steam page for ChaosBringer is finally live. We’d greatly appreciate it if you could take a look, and if it piques your interest, please consider adding it to your wishlist.

Starting today, through our development diaries, we aim to share the story behind the making of our game. We’ll be bringing you more details about ChaosBringer, our ideas, challenges, and the various aspects of development. Your support and enthusiasm are a great source of motivation for us. Development Diary Part 1: The Origins

""Cut the DPS! Cut the DPS! Who’s still attacking?!""
If you’ve ever participated in a raid in an MMORPG, you’ve probably heard the raid leader’s urgent shout like this, or felt the frustration of having to hold back your damage, even with great gear. Remember those moments?

For those who miss the intense moments of MMORPG raids, or when your party wiped after failing a boss mechanic but everyone laughed and tried again. Or perhaps you’ve had to leave those memories behind as real life made it harder to coordinate schedules with others?

That’s where our journey began. ""What if we could experience that same thrill on our own?"" That question is what sparked the creation of ChaosBringer.

ChaosBringer is a party-based single-player RPG set in a fantasy world.
In our game, you don’t control just one character. In 4-player raids, you control all 4, and in 8-player raids, you control all 8?you’re in command of the entire party.

Players can enjoy solo boss raids by gathering four or eight heroes equipped with gear of their choice, playing at their own pace. We, as fans who once enjoyed MMORPG raids, have created this game for those who want to relive that thrilling experience.

Hey everyone! I’m Matt Kap! Some of you may know me from my work on Castle In The Darkness, Astalon: Tears of the Earth, and The Binding Of Isaac: Rebirth.

I’d like to introduce LABS next game, LOVISH! What started off as a side-project that I was messing around with in between Castle In The Darkness 2 tasks (that’s still going smoothly by the way) has become a full and proper game!

LOVISH
is an action-adventure platformer that’s full of heart (get it?)! Play as Sir Solomon, as he quests through 50+ bite-sized stages in order to “rescue” the “love of his life”, Princess Tsuna, from the grasp of the evil Devil Lord! Between every stage, you will see a random event scene, in which anything could happen! Honestly, the less said the better, there are a lot of surprises. Find items, defeat monsters, see familiar faces, and collect crowns on your way to your showdown with Devil Lord!

Working on LOVISH has been the most fun I’ve had working on a videogame project, and I think that fun and light-heartedness shows through in the game itself. Available now, as part of Steam Next Fest, is a short and independent prologue demo that tells a little bit of the story up until the events of the main game.

Changes
The number of ores required to craft tools in the Smithy has been reduced, and products that can be obtained from animals have been added as materials. These changes were made to reduce the dependency on Mine and strengthen Ranch Management.
Since tools are consumable items with durability, the number of materials required has been set to a small number. (Varies depending on difficulty)
The cost required to craft all fishing rods have been reduced.

Convenience Improvements
- If there is no bait in the bag when casting a fishing rod, a speech bubble will be displayed to inform you.
- To prevent accidentally returning to the title screen or quitting the game from the pause menu, a confirmation window will now appear when pressing a button to confirm whether you really want to proceed.
- To prevent the speech bubble from being covered by the tooltip when giving a gift to residents, the tooltip will temporarily disappear until the speech bubble disappears.

Bug Fixes
- Fixed bait was not consumed when fishing failed
- Fixed the price of fishing rods sold at fishing shops was set too low

Mr. Stretch and the Stolen Fortune - Mikeybob67
Mr. Stretch's "Ghost in the Plumbing" update is coming soon, and we need your help to improve the experience for everyone! Currently 131 players have opted into our beta, but only a handful have participated. If you opted into the playtest, you now have access. All applicants will be accepted.

Participants who play the game and complete a significant portion of this Google sheet and turn it in through email (muketronics@outlook.com) or on our discord will be recorded as a play tester in the credits of the final release.

We would love to hear what you think about our game before it enters early access on October 28th. Thanks to everyone who has participated in our playtest so far!

Cascade Tactics - Mythic Machine
Roguelite Mode Overhaul

All enemies are on the battlefield at the start. There are no reinforcements, pickups, or rewards when taking out enemy units.

Dev Comment: Most of the features from the former Roguelite mode are a staple in Epic Mode. Now that the battles are standard 6v6, the game mode can be faster and focus more on strategy.

Epic Mode EXP Change

Epic mode no longer allows users to "Upgrade Equipment", which was a way to buy character levels with earned gold. EXP earned is nearly doubled, but Gold earned after each battle is reduced.

Dev Comment: This feature was confusing for newer players because of how unusual it is to see in an RPG. It is an important feature for the more strategy-oriented game modes (Survival, Roguelite) and so it still exists within those modes.


New Tier 5 Items

After completing the game, there will be opportunities to earn special gems that can be merged to create even more powerful items.


Collect the gems above to create items such as:
Arcane Staff +
Add total Magic to Hp . Magic Resistance +16%
Champion's Helm +
Hp +60% Block and Accuracy +2
Knight's Shield +
Gain Rage: Summon Lancer

Dev Comment: Now that there are three tiers of jobs, the ability to restart the story mode sequence, and a post-game dungeon the game can carry on even longer. So, I wanted to offer more things for the player collect and craft.


Bug Fixes
  • AI processing time improvements. Around 5% to 15%.
  • First story mission has less units spawning. The battle is easier and quicker to finish.
  • One of first undead story missions is also made easier
  • Fixed bug that could occur in the Help menu while in Town
  • Players start with an extra unit
  • Fixed issue where repeatable History Missions would appear too early

What's Next?
I have some new monster characters I'd like to incorporate into the game and then I'll be working on a new trailer.

Shattered Void - Random
Removed the restriction in PvP in Krinul and Ovdar due to the existence of hunters

Restriction for landing from "Outlaw" status now lasts only 3 minutes from any last incident (so you can hide or flee to transfer pirated goods)
Also, over time, hunters will stop waiting for the player when he is offline
Killing a hunter now resets his target (so he will not chase you anymore). Thus, successfully killing a series of hunters can get rid of the tail, or at least from weaker ones
Fixed several issues with their AI
