Hello Pinball friends! It's time again for a little update.
Short summary:
The input system has been improved. PlayStation Controller and Switch Controller are integrated and tested. Rebinding, now also works with keyboard and controller. The new version number is now 0.1.1.0. The next pinball machine has made good progress and will be ready to play in a few weeks.
The long version:
I finally had the chance to test a PS5 controller and a Switch game pad. I noticed a few things that weren't so nice yet.
I adjusted the controller area in the options and now you can see Xbox, PS and Switch icons. The assignment of the buttons is now also correct. E.G.: The right button of the gamepads is now either the Xbox B button, the PS circle button or the Switch A button.
However, PS5 and Switch controllers somehow interfere with the mouse when rebinding, so I have changed the system to also control with the controller and keyboard in the rebinding process. Either way, all things are now doable in the menus with mouse, gamepad and keyboard.
Update is up!
As I've already told you, I'm currently creating a remake of the pinball game “Time to Fight Back”. By and large, it will contain the same rules as its predecessor. However, the playing field will be designed differently. The reason for this is the size of the table. TTFB was my first table, which I created 7 years ago and at that time I only roughly adhered to the playing field dimensions. The table was much too long and also too wide. The new table now has normal wide-body dimensions, which has caused some problems with the ramps and lanes. But I've come up with something nice that should make the whole thing more varied and also cope with the dimensions. Apart from some plastics and a few miniatures, I've already built everything. Yes, I had to rebuild the old objects myself because they were far too rough. Now everything is nicely modeled. Even though I haven't scored any points or completed any missions yet, I've already spent many hours playing and adjusting the pinball machine. The ball rolls well, I can tell you that!
I now need a few more days to create the final objects. After that I will texture and write the program.
The programming shouldn't take too long, as I already have everything in its old form. The textures, however, will still take some time. I can take over the old sounds and will only make minor adjustments to the music. There's not that much to do. I've already re-rendered all the display animations and now I just have to display all the information really nicely. That will be done automatically during programming.
So, it will be ready in a few weeks. I don't know exactly how long it will take. But in no time at all, the time is up and a new pinball machine is here.
