It’s been more than a week, and we have already come a long way. First of all, we want to thank you for all the support. We hope to grow bigger and better to create even more exciting games for you all.
Let's talk about the update.
The v1.2 update is the first update that adds new gameplay mechanics and a new item.
New Item - EMF Device !
This new item, as the name suggests, is an EMF (Electromagnetic Field) Meter Device that captures the electromagnetic field around the haunted objects we need to collect.
When you get close to a haunted object, you will receive a visual response depending on your distance to the object. The lights will turn on and sound cues will alert you as you approach.
Keep in mind that it only detects the closest object, so if there’s another object in the same room, keep searching!
List of changes&fixes
• The biggest change is that we have completely overhauled the item interaction system. Now, you can only collect items if you look directly at them, as it should have been from the beginning.
• Some texts now have corrected fonts. • New hints about the EMF device have been added. • Entrance signs have been added outside the manor to make it easier to find. • The inventory system has been completely remade and now works without any issues. • Footstep sounds have been added for Mr. Charveil outside the manor. • The flashlight now turns off and on during the hunting sequence. This makes it easier for players to understand when the ghost has started the hunt.
We received a lot of feedback from players about their inability to identify the objects they needed to collect. In this update, we primarily addressed that by introducing a new item to help with finding them. With this addition, we also completely remade the inventory system. Additionally, we did a complete overhaul of the item interaction system.
Thanks to all the feedback that helped us identify these issues. If you have any feedback or suggestions, you can join our Discord or send them directly to us via email.

This is easily the biggest update to date. Most of the changes are graphical but there are a few quality of life improvements.
BIG IMPROVEMENTS - Monsters are now made of proper god-fearing cardboard. - The monster portraits in the bestiary and summary screens are now animated and showcase the real size of monsters. - Added the ability to tilt the camera temporarily by holding right click, Letting go of right click will make the camera gravitate back to the default position. - Added a proper skybox with clouds and asters to go with the new ability to see the sky. - Made a brand new tutorial with much better graphics. - Improved the light effect of some followers. - Added a light effect to more monsters when they follow you (Pupkin and Clunker). SMALL IMPROVEMENTS - Eggs render less pixelated. - Increased the speed at which textures load. - Added an option to turn off shadows (Can increase the framerate by up to 15% on some machines). - Added an option for mouse sensitivity (Only affects the speed of the camera). - Improved the scale, rotation and offset of various monsters and monster icons. - Improved the general quality of most textures. - Slightly improved the quality of shadows in general. - Collectibles look better (They rotate and look like what they are supposed to be).
BUG FIXES - Fixed a bug that would cause monsters to be duplicated when captured in some cases. - Fixed a bug that let you catch 2 starters when they were too close together. - Door highlights no longer render above the main character. - Fixed all memory leaks. - FIxed a bug where the lighting would get much worse at random intervals for no reason. - There were multiple ways to make monsters appear for 1 frame before being replaced with another, these types of bugs have all been removed.
FIXED REGRESSIONS - Re-added the slippery physics in the ice cave in Mint Mountain. - Characters are now the correct colors in the save select screen instead of just grey. - Fixed a bug that caused monsters to never be a recolor introduced in the previous update. ADDED REGRESSIONS - Temporarily turned off the rain in Sakura Shore and snow in Mint Mountain. These effects will be replaced by a proper weather system later.
This update is the largest update in Dream Catcher's history but I'd like to keep that momentum going. The next update will focus on improving battles. I intend to get rid of ALL regressions in the next update or the one after. This means evolutions and decent movepools are on their way. Here is an updated roadmap.
The Rangers In The South - DPA. Capitan Salchicha de Pollo
After a long and challenging journey, we’re proud to finally share a glimpse of our game with you. The demo is now live on Steam, and we can't wait to hear your feedback!
Please keep in mind that the game is still in development, so the demo may contain bugs and does not represent the final version of the game.
But that’s not all—we’re excited to be part of the Steam Next Fest this October! Join us as we showcase our game to the world, with live streams, playthroughs, and developer sessions. It’s been a tough road, but with your support, we’re reaching new heights.
