Bringing Warframe to this year's Tokyo Game Show was an unforgettable experience, and we were thrilled to showcase the Origin System from our booth at Hall 07-C01! We're grateful to everyone who joined us in person, as well as those who kept the hype train rolling from home. If you missed out on the excitement as it happened in Japan, we've compiled a brief recap for you below — including some stellar shots taken directly from the show floor.
Devstream 181
Just a few days before the update launched, Devstream 181 unveiled Koumei & the Five Fates. Watch the Japanese version of the official gameplay trailer below, featuring the voice talent of Kenjiro Tsuda:
Creative Director Rebecca Ford and Community Director Megan Everett took us deeper than ever into the recent update, which includes several new Deluxe Skins, Reworks, QoL enhancements, and so much more. They even returned the following day with a Bonus Recap stream, ensuring that everyone got an up-close look at the content-to-come.
For a recap of Devstream 181, check out our official Highlights, or get the full nitty-gritty from our complete Devstream Overview.
Mobile Showcase
Attendees were treated to a new iOS trailer during the Mobile Gaming Show, presented by Future Games Show and hosted by Warframe: 1999 voice actor Ben Starr:
Released as part of a wider push into the Japanese market, the latest trailer highlights Warframe's deep customization, mobile-optimized graphics and epic narrative. Android users who are hoping to join Warframe on Mobile can watch out for a launch date signup list before the end of the year.
At The Event
Our booth offered a broad look at all things Warframe, designed to entice fans but also introduce the Origin System to new Tenno for the first time. Those in attendance may have noticed some of the same eye-catching designs we recently featured at TennoCon 2024!
A variety of activities and demonstrations helped bring Warframe to life:
Parkour Display
What better way to help prospective Tenno get a feel for Warframe's unique style of movement than by watching a live parkour show? The gravity-defying traversal of a Warframe is one thing in-game, but seeing it live in front of you is something else entirely. Thank you to our talented (and athletic) performers!
Appearance by Alpha Takahashi
In addition to appearing live on stage with Rebecca and Megan during Devstream 181, actor Alpha Takahashi also appeared at the Warframe booth to mingle with fans and build excitement for her upcoming role as Aoi in Warframe: 1999.
Live Demonstration
Warframe is a vast and deep experience. As such, we understand how overwhelming it can sometimes be — especially for new Tenno. Fortunately, our booth featured an enrapturing live demonstration of the game's various systems and features, and served as a helpful (and entertaining) introduction to the journey awaiting them.
Demo Stations
Of course, there's no better way to understand the feel of a Warframe than by jumping right in and trying one out for yourself! Our booth included several PC and console setups so that attendees could experience our frenetic, fast-paced combat in real-time.
Merch and Giveaways
Official Warframe Merchandise on hand included a Warframe logo'd T-shirt (available in either white or black), along with a Warframe: 1999-themed towel.
A special gacha machine was set up to dispense Void Relics to eager fans containing various Warframe-themed pins, keychains and personal Platinum codes.
Over this last scary September, our frightfully-talented team have been brewing up another hauntingly delightful update to the game.
We’ve got three terrifying tracks to play, two thrilling new ways to earn TXR, plus the ability to bring Ghosts into events with you!
Add in a new music system and settings menu and it makes for a wicked and bone-chilling new update!
TRACKS
TRACK 2 REVERSE & TRACK 3 REVERSE
Last month we added a Reverse route to Aero Bay with the mindset that we wanted this possible at ALL tracks in future.
I’m pleased to say therefore that, indeed, both Track 2 and Track 3 now have reverse routes and you’ll be able to play them as Limited Time Events starting this month!
UPDATED TRACK 2
Track 2 has also received further refinement in order to eliminate some corner-cutting exploits whilst also providing some additional variety to this location.
UPDATED TRACK 3
Additionally we’ve also made a moderate improvement to Track 3 after community feedback that indicated that gate navigation could be improved in some areas. As such we’ve added some new gates that better inform the player on the direction to fly.
TRACK 4 PREVIEW
Another month, another track! This time, the location type is a sanctioned, legitimized race track ideal for flying car racing and therefore representing the kind of course that the Airspeeder series in real life would one day be utilizing.
That means that we now have a City, a Natural Environment, and a Repurposed Fossil Fuel Site in addition to this new Sanctioned Race Track. These are the four types of track we’ll be concentrating on for CELEROS and will soon be putting out a vote on the exact geographical region you’d like some of the existing tracks to reside!
NEW
WEEKLY CHALLENGE QUESTS
In addition to the Monthly (or ‘Seasonal’ as we’re calling them) quests, you’ll now have an all-new way to earn TXR with the Weekly Challenge!
Here, you’ll be presented with 7 quests to complete. As soon as you complete one you’ll earn the associated TXR and a timer will then appear. Once the timer expires, a new quest will then take its place.
Ultimately, you’ll be further rewarded as you progress towards completing 25 quests per week. This functionality will become available in future builds however. But for now, this should provide you with daily ways to earn TXR within CELEROS and ultimately will provide the game with a progression and reward mechanic that will feed into other systems such as Customization! SPECIAL QUESTS
Special Quests are extremely time-limited quests that only appear for short durations. For example over certain weekends or during popular holidays.
They are aimed at celebrating real-life events whilst also providing incentives for players to congregate during certain times.
The first example Special Quest will be to play CELEROS on Halloween! So please hop into the game this Spooky Season and look out for an event in Discord where you may get to play and interact with the ghouls and goblins that work on the game!
GHOSTS
Every time you enter a Limited Time Event, you’ll now be able to take two Ghosts in with you. These can be picked from anyone on the Leaderboard!
Ever wondered how those aliens get those crazy fast times? Simply take their Ghost into an event with you and use them as both inspiration and a learning tool in order to improve yourself!
Maybe they take a shortcut you never knew about, or a different line through a corner. Or maybe they’re exploiting the track in a way it shouldn’t be so our team can fix it(!)
Either way, from our internal testing so far, we’ve found that beating a Ghost is a transformative experience giving a glimpse at what realtime racing may look like in the future ;-)
CHASE THE CHAMP
But that’s not all! We’ve also added a unique system we’re calling “Chase The Champ” whereby if you BEAT the Ghost you took in with you, it’ll now automatically load the next Ghost ahead of them.
So if you took in the Ghost of your friend Jonny and beat their time, the game will then automatically load in Jenni who was ahead of him.
This means players can now enter Hot Lap and endlessly ‘beat and repeat’, continually climbing up the leaderboard without ever having to leave.
PULSE
We have now added a bespoke music playback system known as PULSE to the game that plays in both the menus and during gameplay. During the development of the game therefore you’ll start to hear new music appearing that aims to compliment and reflect the favorite genres of our core audience. For now those genres are Lo-Fi and Drum & Bass although we aim to update those to Hip-Hop and EDM as time progresses.
To aid this, you’ll now be able to change various volume settings from the new Settings menu.
SETTINGS
Whilst not the most exciting areas of the game to talk about, we know how important customizing the game to your own needs is and therefore we have taken the first step by implementing a new Settings screen that will ultimately allow you to choose between various controller types and graphics settings.
For now, the options remain as Audio, Video, and some Controls settings.
NERFS & BUFFS
We were made aware of an exploit involving Airstream boosts and ground collision that gave Airspeeders an undesired ‘super boost’ of speed. This is not what was intended and therefore this exploit has now been removed
IMPROVEMENTS
GAME MODE NAMING. In order to better clarify what “Tournament Mode” actually is, it has been renamed “Best Of Three” thereby giving better clarity that the game mode will take the fastest of your three laps as the one to push to a leaderboard.
BEHIND THE SCENES
Our Steam integration is almost complete now so we soon hope to be deploying features around friend-based play starting with Friend Leaderboards and Notifications. More info on this in future release notes! Similarly, we are looking at streamlining the current SWG App connection process and will have more information on that soon also
KNOWN ISSUES
The cockpit glass of the Airspeeder has been hidden whilst we fix an issue with how it interacts with the visuals of Track 2. It will return!
Your TXR counter in the top-right of the interface may occasionally not reflect the correct amount. This can be rectified by either waiting for your most recent Weekly Challenge quest to be awarded or from restarting
You have given us a very big gift. We are attaching a picture with the art that YOU created!
Thank you very much for your attention to our game. It greatly motivates us to create not only good games but also heartfelt games about experiences that you all are surely familiar with. Your support warms our hearts.
Once again, thank you, and we will do our best to delight you at the release!
