Hey there SCUM community - it's that time of the week again(+1)! Here's a new dev update for your reading pleasure!
The programming team is working on a wide variety of features and tasks. They are working on everything from weapon malfunctions, armband and headlamp items, turrets, quests...and I even heard the sound of a familiar female AI assistant voice somewhere from their room. Apart from that, the team was also researching some of the level-of-detail discrepancies in the game and has been optimizing the rendering of the map. Last, but definitely not least, the team was also working on the base building ladder connecting and on additional anticheat functionalities.
Our level designers are still at it with some of the already mentioned reworks of the weapons factory and coal mine POIs. However, they've also been reworking the riverbanks and some of the base building elements, and have been setting some cliffs on the mountainsides.
Our animators are currently focused mostly on bugfixing and on creating a new trailer for the game. They've also completed the animations for the new SCAR weapon and are finishing up the end credits for the game, as well as the Halloween update.
The rest of the art team is working on a wide variety of things. Apart from bugfixing and overall optimizations, they are reworking the AKM and RPK weapons and are working on the Hellrider body for the Cruiser vehicle. Work has also continued on the base building turrets (shown in the screenshots below) and on reworking the dropship, as well as some TEC-1 quest items. The rear lights for the quad are being fixed, while new lights on the sports bike will be implemented.
The soft surface art team is working on the reworking the female inmate pants and shirt. While we're on the subject of clothes, they have also been working on a rework of the folded clothes as well. Work has also started on the armbands and on the armed NPCs.

The sound team's focus was on creating sound designs for the turret and for the quests.

Work has continued on the design of the quest system, and work has started on the tutorial. They've also worked on the new weapons scope, as well as the armband functionality.

As we've mentioned in the 'art' section, we're making preparations for the Halloween update which will go live sometime by the end of the month.
There was an issue where some of the encounters that were expired were reactivated on server restart instead of being erased from the server's database. I know it's a bit technical, but that's the rough explanation.
First off, you need to make sure that the dropship basebuilding encounter is enabled in the server settings and then your base needs to have the required amount of elements for the dropship to attack it.
Do you have a mask equipped by any chance? When you have a mask on, then you are unable to eat. If that is not the case, then we'd like to kindly ask you to report it via the following link: https://scum.help.jagex.com/hc/en-gb/requests/new?ticket_form_id=22542144743185 As for the night, it lasts proportionately to the daytime (roughly 16:8). Nighttime provides an additional layer of challenge as you need to be adequately geared to do things during the night.
The Brenner is a powerful being that cannot be killed as it literally has phoenix tears for blood. The idea behind him was to create a threat which cannot be defeated and which you can only outsmart or outmaneuver. That's why they can only be found in abandoned bunkers and why the ultimate prize is to get a sample of his blood which you can then use to heal yourself.
There’s not much time left before the last content patch, Patch 0.3, which will kick off the final stage of Early Access. In the meantime, we bring you a patch to help us prepare. The main features of this update are the new character, the Elementalist, and the new spell, the Familiar. Read the patch notes carefully for more details!
New
New Character - The Elementalist: This sorceress, a master of the elements, is lost in the Forest (in Challenge Mode), waiting to be freed. When you play as her, you can attune to one of the basic elements, transforming all your spells into that element. Additionally, if you speak with her, she may give you hints on how to finally defeat the evil once and for all.
New Spell - Familiar: Can be purchased in the shop. You will no longer be alone!
7 New Quests: Five of them related to the new character, and the other two are preparation for the next patch.
2 New Upgrades: Time to spend those accumulated Boss Souls.
Balance
Increased the experience required to level up: From levels 1 to 50, the difference should be negligible, and this mainly affects levels beyond 100. The player's power scaling was too high compared to the difficulty.
Enemy experience drops now scale less over time. At the end of the run, it is reduced by about 15%.
Expanded Mind Passive - Common: Experience bonus reduced from +5% to +2%
Expanded Mind Passive - Uncommon: Experience bonus reduced from +10% to +5%
Expanded Mind Passive - Rare: Experience bonus reduced from +15% to +10%
Expanded Mind Passive - Epic: Experience bonus reduced from +25% to +15%
Expanded Mind Passive - Legendary: Experience bonus reduced from +35% to +25%
Quick Cast Passive - Legendary: Attack Speed bonus reduced from +30% to +25%
Arcane Path Spell - Devastating Charge Upgrade: Dash reduction decreased from -75% to -60%
Enemies can now pass through barriers created by Bosses.
Miscellaneous
Improved the Spell Upgrade Interface.
Reduced the number of particles in Arcane Orbit.
Reduced the volume of the Electric Nova.
Numerous changes have been made to improve performance.
Bug Fixes
Fixed an issue related to quests.
Fixed a bug that allowed the purchase of locked upgrades.

Due to the fact that many people had to stay at home in isolation due to COVID-19, we decided to add another Let's Play Together competition in the middle of the week, just for fun-with different crazy levels and (alas!) no prizes. Nuclear War Simulator has a Beta live for our next update. The Meyer update will see a Campaign mode with missions and objectives added to the game, along with a scenario creation wizard, improvements to the radiation model, and bug fixes.

Joining the Beta is simple. On Steam, right-click the Nuclear War Simulator icon from your library and select "Properties". From there head on over to the Betas section and opt into the Open Beta.

We cut content down a bit, but got rid of critical bugs and issues, that can affect core gameplay. It doesn't mean that it's super-stable bug-free version, but we cut 'em down to desirable minimum. The Civil Recovery Corps was founded to help out during the pandemic. And a pandemic is what we got, but not the kind we expected.
Now, we’ve got what the official documentation calls “cadavroids”. You probably call them “zombies”. We just say the Dead.
That’s what they are, and it’s what you’ll be as well if you don’t steer clear of them. Our job is to help people, and you need to be alive to do that.
As a Responder, you aren’t out here to pick fights with the Dead. We’re volunteers, not heroes, so keep the ultimate goal in mind when you’re in the field. Do whatever you can to avoid threats, and keep far away from groups especially. Run into just one of the Dead and they might try for a bite.
A crowd of them? Welcome to Hell’s buffet.
