Just under 1000 new players tried the game, over 11,000 NPC's were killed, 3200 chests were looted, players dealt just under 5 million total damage and 36 people killed the Puppeteer (if you were one of those people, check your Steam inventory on Friday and there should be a reward item in there).
Big thanks to everyone who showed up to the tournament, was a lot of fun. "serguillotin" and "Wholesome" won with "EnderKlas" and "PowerChopper" coming in second.
I got a ton of really valuable feedback that will help the game a lot, ranging from simple but critical points of confusion (eg. people not realizing they can enter the tower by using the red portal and instead waiting in the entrance) to more high-level concerns about the extraction mechanics or the balance of various skills and full builds. I'm already working on a patch to address some parts of that, other parts will take more time.
Going forward, I want to do more frequent playtests / events to gather feedback and improve the game faster. I hope to do at least one small group event in October and a weekend playtest in November. I'll be updating the short-term roadmap towards the end of the week.
Finally, if you haven't already, please take a moment to fill out the survey here. The responses so far have been super helpful and it would be great to hear from more people.
Hey Drifters, We know the game has always been a bit tricky to jump into, especially with the tutorial being sparse and features often changing throughout development. That’s why I’m glad to finally say the Tutorial is now live!
New and returning players: you can now dive in with a custom experience that will walk you through the early stages of building your floating town, covering the basics with dialogue and objectives.
Alongside the tutorial, we’ve revamped parts of the UI. We've reworked the notifications (since they often felt more like a nuisance than helpful info), and refreshed the Fish Farm UI to make it easier to navigate. Plus, we’ve squashed bugs, made other UI improvements, and updated localization across the board!
What's next?
There’s a reason we’ve been hard at work on the tutorial! Its dialogue and quest systems are setting the foundation for something bigger: the narrative! We’re currently testing small drifter quests, a larger story arc, and more.
In addition, we’re currently testing the re-introduction of Pollution. This feature has always been a bit tricky too, so we’re planning to roll it out on the experimental branch soon to let it marinate. This way we can fine-tune and iterate on it together. Sea you soon!
Early Access 0.8.5: Tutorial
This patch focuses on making the game more accessible with the introduction of a tutorial and various UI/QoL adjustments to help new players start a floating town.
Tutorial
A tutorial has been added, which can be started from the Main Menu. This custom experience will walk you through the basics of building your floating town, with dialogue and quests!
Added the 'Tutorial Pages'. A dedicated panel for in-depth information on gameplay features.
Removed old tutorial pages from the 'Survival Guide'. The 'Survival Guide' has now been renamed to 'Glossary' to better reflect its revised function.
Added a '?' button to various panels. These will open the relevant tutorial page for quick access to information.
Added various new animations for drifters in dialogue.
Localization
All supported languages have been updated to include translations for the new tutorial and tutorial pages.
Fixed and updated several missing translations from the previous localization update.
Fixed various UI elements that were displaying incorrectly in languages other than the default.
Various other small localization improvements.
Misc
Starting a new game will now trigger a dialogue asking to name the town.
Behind the scenes: created a dialogue system.
Behind the scenes: created a quest system.
Changed tutorial video codecs to VP8 to allow for multi-platform usage.
When the game is paused, changing it to any other speed will now un-pause it.
UI
Added a Quest Objective tracker.
Added dialogue UI.
Reworked notifications. We felt that the notifications would often clog up too much of the screen and act like a nuisance rather than give insight into the town's state. Now, notifications no longer stack on the side of your screen. It's now a single line which you can hover over to see all previous notifications.
Reworked the Fish Farm panel UI to make it easier and less confusing to use. The functionality has not changed.
Various other UI improvements.
Fixes
Fixed issue where deconstructing or upgrading buildings with decorations on them (housing) would not get done by drifters.
Fixed issue where moving down with joystick in the options menu caused the menu to glitch shortly.

Fixed issue where going into an overlay and back using DPAD would keep the color overlay when switching back to default view.
Fixed issue with the producer panel where the ‘-1’ button incorrectly removed the first queued recipe instead of the last. Also resolved issue where right-clicking to remove a specific queued recipe removed the wrong one.
Fixed issue where expertise points would get assigned on opening the drifter expertise panel with joystick.
Fixed issue where resetting the camera to the town would not work when the game is paused.
Fixed issue where the inventory top-bar would partially not have a background when you had too many items in joystick mode.
Fixed issue where buildings would get insta-constructed when cancelling salvage too early.
Fixed issue where where keys or glyphs would display as numbers when loading a save.
Fixed issue where time could not be controlled with shortcuts in the map.
Fixed issue where some language characters were not showing properly.
Fixed issue where where buildings, after a canceled deconstruction, could not be deconstructed again.
Fixed issue where the Glossary had duplicate entries for the same building.
Fixed issue where deconstruct icon sometimes wouldn't show above buildings.
Fixed issue where 'export blocked' warnings above buildings would stay even when it was no longer blocked.

We've got a light one here with some bug fixes, clarity changes, and adjustments to the way that the Mother works.
Fixed - Backpacks expending all of their charges at once Fixed - Dead player names not showing up on the spectator UI Fixed - Players could spawn ghost objects while using the drone controller. They have been Exorcised. Fixed - Mother now attempts to find alternate paths to the player but will give up after a time if unable. Fixed - Rare crash when picking up items has been fixed Fixed - Players no longer continue running when activating the drone controller. Fixed - Goblin no longer steals multiple items from incapacitated players. He was being very greedy. Fixed - Dying while incapacitated would prevent you from controlling your spectator. Now you may observe. Fixed - Fuel was uncapped, it should now stay inside of the fuel container.
Added - Slot indicators for perks, to make it more clear that 4 perks can be equipped at once
Battle Pass offer in the shop is now divided into Premium Battle Pass itself and Battle Pass points. The new BP (Battle Pass) system is now in game - each month of the event will have its own BP with separate rewards. Battle girls’ rarity in the BP is changed.
We've given the Battle Pass a bit of a makeover - this bad boy now looks good as ever. The design of the BP points icon have been changed as well - there should be no questions like 'what's this diamond-shaped stuff?' anymore.
Hornyween special offers are now available in the game's shop.
Nemesis has been added to the Hornyween battle girls summon.
Nemesis-themed skin bundle is now available in the main shop. You can also find these skins in the event shop.
Nemesis skins can be seen in the Hornyween battle stages, where our enemies will be sporting some snazzy new skins!
New daily log in have been added to the game. You'll be able to get advanced Nemesis, equipmenet for her and some useful resources. You've missed some days, so we'll count them soon.
Girls wear black (also green and white)! Matriarchs in the Hornyween dialogs now wear special costumes. We are aware that their emotions have stayed usual, it's not a bug, just a very lazy feature.
Hornyween currency from the previous event has transferred to the current one.
We've added a new button, 'Get more', to the guest shards counter. Just click on it, and it'll take you straight to the guest shards summon.
2 new sets of equipment and 2 weapons for the Assassin and Bruiser classes. They are available in the battle girls special equipment summons, as well as in the Hornyween battles.
New equipment and a new weapon for the Overlord. Those items are accessible in the Overlord’s special equipment summons, as well as in the Hornyween battles.
Shaman and Dragon sets of skins are now available in the Skins section of the in-game shop.
New upcoming promo banner added to the Aerostat.
Quite possible, one of the most important changes lately - the Overlord's background image has been recolored and is now red.
Bug fixes:
‘Plus’ buttons on the resources tab will take you straight to the corresponding resources screen in the shop.
We've also fixed the issue with improving battle girls' abilities while having not enough resources. Not sure, if any of you had it, but still, job well done!
Energy potion claim counter in the Forge should be fixed.
The issue with a second Ninja default skin should be fixed. If it’s not, she might be casting ‘Shadow Clone’, this is beyond our power.

Event features:

2 new sets of skins, one for each month of the event. You'll find them in both the main shop and the event shop.
Event maps with increasing difficulty and unique looking enemies! Conquer challenging levels and prove your dominance!
3 event-exclusive Matriarch memories: watch Inge work hard to regain the favor of her people, and see Overlord's dream team travel together!
New equipment sets and weapons for your girls and the Overlord! Event equipment has a higher chance of dropping in the event's summons!
Special Event Shop! Spend your Hornyween currency in the event shop to get useful items and new skins.
New Event Bundles: enhance your experience with special time-limited bundles, designed to make your journey even more exciting.
Starting with this event, the Premium Battle Pass bundle will be separated into Premium Battle Pass and Battle Pass Points. This has allowed us to drastically reduce the price of the Battle Pass, while pretty much doubling the rewards that players can get from it during the event. We've also decided to change the rarity of the Battle Girls in both Premium and Free BP to make the purchase option even more accessible. We'll be monitoring player experience with the new option during the first part of Hornyween and will make changes if necessary with the next update.
We're currently working on a new special event with the super-talented artist ZONE-sama, which some of you may have already heard about. This event will feature new mechanics that we hope you'll love. More info coming soon, so follow the news!
