Before this update, half of the gameplay was making sure you had enough ammo to beat the next boss. That kinda sucked, so I got rid of ammo. As a result, the entire currency and shop system has been reworked, and the whole game has been rebalanced. (Note that you still need to reload guns, you just don't have to actually have any ammo. In other words, guns now have infinite ammo).
This is unrelated, but I should also mention that the default dodge button on gamepads is now left bumper instead of A. This can of course be changed in the control bindings menu.
Anyway here's the fun stuff:
Bosses
Phillip McTree
This gentleman will greet you at once you clear wave 7. He's really fast. Watch out.
Arnold Creamston
Arny here shows up 8 waves after Professor Hands, at wave 32. I don't recommend getting to close to him, despite his pleasant, creamy appearance.
Guns
Autopistol
The autopistol is an automatic pistol that holds 8 rounds and unlocks at wave 3.
SMG
Shoots real fast. Faster than the assault rifle, but with a bit less damage. Use with caution. Unlocks at wave 17.
New Items
Funny Mushroom
The funny mushroom is a new starting item that will cause you to grow a third eye when you eat it. If there are enemies nearby, your new eye will fire purple projectiles in the direction you're looking. You can aim it the same way you'd aim a gun. Like the potion of bad vibes, eating more funny mushrooms will improve its stats.
Writ of Blood
A nice contract you can sign that will give you a massive damage boost at the expense of 50% of your max hp. Unlocks at wave 9.
New Features and stuff
The Altar
The Altar is a rare building that can sometimes spawn at the tops of mountains (in the snowy part), or, even more rarely, in the tundra biome. When you get close to it, it will activate and present you with either a stat increase or a gift.
Hard Mode
Once you've finished the tutorial, you'll be given the option of enabling hard mode the next time you start a new run. In hard mode, all damage you take will be doubled, and there will be twice the amount of enemies (which means twice the amount of pennies! wow). Also, bosses have a bit more hp.
Crypticus Armor
This is a rare armor set that you have a chance to get when you activate an altar. There's also a small chance for pieces of this armor to spawn in a shop.
Death Screen
Now, instead of being returned to the main menu when you die, you'll get to see a nice little screen that shows you your stats for the run you just lost.
Other changes
The achievements for running/swimming/sailing a certain distance are now triggered via your overall stats. Before, they were set using your stats for an individual run, which made getting these achievements excessively difficult.
The more challenging enemies that were introduced in the last update now spawn at wave 24, after you defeat Professor Hands. I don't remember what wave they spawned at before but I remember that I changed it.
Professor Hands now spawns at wave 24 instead of wave 32, so there is now a boss fight every 8 waves up to wave 32.
Increased shop spawn rate a bit.
Lowered the speed of the snowballs shot by snowmen.
WIP/First Pass Localisation (please test if you are a non-english speaker!)
New default rover setup, less stiff, better at soaking up bumps
Tire model updated, previously tires weren't fully gripping up at high speeds, and low weight caused overly 'tacky' grip levels (fixed)
RCS changes: more in-air rotation, minor nerf to high altitude strength
Damage: Still very WIP, but updated so Sand is no longer near impossible to take damage on
Damage: Springs now somewhat reduce forces taken from heavy landings
Rover aero adjusted to help the rover fly more level
Slightly more head impact shakes from hits/touchdowns
FOV is speed-based (but not too extreme)
"Drone 1" 3rd Person camera changed quite significantly, locally follows behind the rover, unlocks during spins, has a reverse cam etc. Drone 2 still uses previous method
Center diff change: rover handles slightly more like a RWD vehicle
Dust overlay from dust build-up post fx improved
Tutorial order is now linear
Tutorial somewhat enforced (need a license) prior to racing unless you opt out with Ed
Various tutorial improvements/navigation
Race is now "Drive" + submenu now include tutorials/free roam/rally/stage
Various prompts require a long hold now to clear (ie Quit)
Allowed system commands in basic and race training so players can reset rover if needed
Mouse cursor now reveals when moving the mouse then hides again
Rocks can now appear much closer to waypoints
Skidplate friction is higher + no longer reduces damage to rover body/engine etc
New custom waypoint sequences added
Menu and replay controls now re-bindable
New "rough terrain" tutorial after basic race one
AI gets slower on heavy dust stages
New gravel roll and slide sound effects
AI skill and mistake values tuned so they aren't so consistently epic
WIP most of the rover panels are now RoverParts and will visually break off. Dust gets into systems faster once lost.
Added more HUD engine icon damage colours
Improved lighting and fog for most weather settings/ToDs
Demo change: Rally is now a static 'hand picked' one (for eventual demo launch)
Demo change: Removed enduro and infinitely random time-trials
New music for rally reveal/pre rally comms
Slightly increased tire pressure loss from punctures
Rcs leak speed dropped
Slightly increased tire wear
Options for changing music/audio volume
Destroyed RCS thrusters now use the same red HUD Xs as tires;
More accurate particle lighting method
Removed many 'double' wheel/rover dust effects to reduce overdraw (was hard to see anyway)
FIX: Rover wheels shouldn't get unrealistically 'sucked under' when teetering on sidewalls.
FIX: Rocks were where they shouldn't be (ie underwater)
FIX: Damper rebound rate now used while airborne
FIX: Minor physics/grip/downforce issues
FIX: Chassis no longer takes double damage from quick successions of swing arm and body impacts
FIX: Bug with repairing middle swingarms

FIX: some shadows looking broken at sheer angles at certain times
FIX: 3rd Person camera lerping back into odd positions after restart
FIX: Toe was always zero in races despite setup
FIX: Holding handbrake while using fast restart breaking stage timer
Yesterday we patched V Rising with a small update to the Continue function in the main menu. You should now be able to see the name of the server you’re connecting to before choosing to connect to indicated over the button on the main menu. This is a relatively small change, but we’re just letting you know what we did so you aren’t too spooked by an unexplained update.
There will be more V Rising news to be spooked about later this month! Happy Halloween!
If you're having issues with the game, make sure to take a look at our known bugs and fixes to see if there's a potential solution to get you back into Vardoran as quickly as possible!
This is Patch 5 already. Times flies like a spaceship. Fast. Time moves fast.
In this patch, which we are calling the 'Copybot' Patch, we focused heavily on some key issues reported by players and scores of polish. There are still some known issues to be patched in (we are working on them as you read this probably).
Highlights of the Copybot Patch include fixing a scripting issue that was making it impossible to unlock the Gearheaded Gourmand achievement/trophy. To unlock it, you must: eat the cat treats at the cat show; drink Nitro-chug at the robo fights; eat glowing veggies or mushrooms at the dirt fair; and drink both oil and coffee from a machine on the Scanner. If you have done all of these in a single playthrough, drink coffee on the Scanner to unlock.

We are continuing to work hard to polish this game until it shines like a flying saucer. Thank you for playing and for your patience. If you like Times & Galaxy, please consider recommending it to a friend. A weird lil game like ours needs to find its weird lil audience.
