Three years ago today, I accomplished something I will be proud of for the rest of my life: I released Dear Agony Aunt <3
While a lot of love and effort went into this project, I am aware that it is a small game. Steam has an absurdly vast stock of games that offer more hours of gameplay than this one can. So, now that Dear Agony Aunt has reached the grand old age of three years old, I've made the decision to reduce the price. The base price in USD has changed: $4.99 -> $3.99 In sterling that is: £4.29 -> £3.39 I am trusting the equivalent prices suggested by Valve for all other currencies.
//bug fixes - Choose Difficulty menu: The Best Score stat could show as a decimal. - Escape Menu: If you restart/quit then background music could still play if multiple menus were nested open. - Rogue Convergence: The End Boss could show the Flee status effect. - Gunslinger Desperado class: They could be offered an item that increases their gun slots which could cause a crash. - Abilitary Connoisseur class: They could be offered an item that increases their ability slots which could cause a crash. - Droneraiser Minioneer class: They could be offered an item that increases their drone slots which could cause a crash. - Dodgy Networker class: Selecting his Contract Dealer item in the Status Screen would cause a crash. - Mimic Mouldmaker class: Some shop related class items when taken weren't taking effect until the next sector. - Mimic Mouldmaker class: He could be offered multiple class items that increase your max guns/abilities/drones. - Mimic Mouldmaker class: He could be offered the Unupgradable Weapons class item. - Mimic Mouldmaker class: If you had a Guilded Rolls item and used it to reroll then it would reduce your Max Health by -2. - Errant Knight class: He could be offered non-melee Mega Weapons. - Errant Knight class: Offered Mega Weapons were using their default Element colour. - Errant Knight class: His Shields could appear behind some objects (eg Boss). - Droneous Eggling ability: If it spawned an upgraded Guard Drone then it would cause a crash. - Elemental Fluid item: During a Rogue Convergence the extra stat boost was still being applied until you bought an item. - Primitive Traitum item: When bought the cost reduction wasn't taking effect until the next sector. - Elementalist Shop: You could be offered an Element Core which Difficulty does not contain that element. - Shops: When using a gamepad if you entered a shop which was sold out then it would cause a crash. - Encrypted Stranger: Backing out then re-entering the Stranger would give a different event. - Encrypted Stranger - Ethereal Extortion: This could still spawn Shades after the sector exit portal had opened.
HP and Mana now regenerate slowly all the time. x2 speed if you are camped. (Was previously all in a chunk on a new day)
Base Attack speed is now 45 AP. This will allow almost all one handed weapons to attack twice per turn (until fatigue kicks in).
Enemies no longer walk through fire!
More work on death animations. (Twitching is definitely my favourite change of the update) Also it sometimes looked like heads had come of when they had not.
Far fewer creatures are now immune to fire. (A bit unfair if you have built yourself a pyromancer)
Subvert infamy penalty reduced greatly. (Before, even destroying one caravan made it hard to recruit)
Encumberance penalty reduced for high strength characters (and increased for low strength).
Expanded starting party to make things easier at the very start of the game, and also to make the different starting backgrounds more varied.
Two new mechanisms to attract more followers to the band: If you are doing very badly, God will take pity and send someone to join you. It will cost some Ennui though... If you are doing very well (lots of Glory), wanderers will want to join.
Recalibrated all encounters - should be much easier in general.
New improved graphics for the tiles with combatants. (Yellow for your team, Blue for enemies)
WASD is now the deafult way to move the combat screen about. You can always use the cursor keys too. This won't affect anyone already playing as some people will already have mapped their hotkeys. If you want to change the key mappings, go to Options, then Hot Keys.
Swap weapon glitches fixed.
Expanded the tooltips on the View Character screen.
Thank you for believing in our The Rise project, I hope you enjoy the whole adventure, and don't forget to leave your review, your feedback can improve the game even more, so be sure to review and comment, we will be constantly working to improve the game.
Dive back into a world of gore, monsters, and relentless action with Night Slashers: Remake, the highly anticipated return of the classic arcade beat 'em up! Originally released by Data East in 1993, the franchise captivated players with its unique blend of horror themes, intense combat, and unforgettable characters. Now, this cult classic has been reimagined for a new generation, bringing all the blood-soaked thrills to modern platforms.
Night Slashers: Remake immerses players in a nightmarish world where humanity’s last hope rests in the hands of four elite fighters: Jake Hunter, a cyborg monster hunter from America; Christopher Smith, a European vampire hunter; Hong Hua Zhao, an Asian martial arts expert; and Liu Feilin, a Chinese opera sensation who brings her unique skills to the battle. Together, they must fight through an army of undead, mutants, and supernatural creatures to save the world from the brink of apocalypse.
-------
Key Features:
Classic Beat 'Em Up Gameplay: Night Slashers: Remake stays true to its roots, offering classic side-scrolling beat 'em up action reminiscent of genre-defining games like Streets of Rage and TMNT: Shredder's Revenge. Players will battle through multiple levels, including one secret stage, each culminating in a showdown with a powerful boss.
Four Playable Characters: Choose from three unique characters from the classic version of the game, plus an additional character added in the remake!
Local Multiplayer for Up to Four Players: You don’t have to face the restless hordes of the undead alone—team up with up to four players in local multiplayer mode, where each player controls a different character with an extensive set of moves.
Advanced Combat Mechanics: Master a variety of combat options, including combos, jump attacks, grappling moves, and running strikes. Each character also has devastating special moves that can turn the tide of battle—at the cost of some of their own health.
Spectacular Screen-Clearing Attacks: When the situation gets dire, unleash a powerful screen-clearing attack that decimates all enemies in sight. These attacks come with a significant health cost, but the carnage they unleash is well worth the sacrifice.
Diverse and Horrifying Enemies: Face off against an army of the undead, including zombies, mutants, werewolves, and other nightmarish creatures. Each level is packed with terrifying foes and iconic horror-themed bosses like Dracula, mummies, golems, and Frankenstein's monster.
Unique Horror Theme: Night Slashers: Remake stands out with its grim, horror-infused world. The game features atmospheric music and cartoon-style gore that will delight fans of classic horror movies and games alike.
Additional Custom Modes: In the Remake version, you can set your own rules for the game beyond the classic difficulty levels. Time limits? Exploding corpses? It's all here. But are you brave (or crazy) enough to try it?
Night Slashers: Remake is more than just a trip down memory lane - it’s a blood-soaked celebration of everything that made the original game a cult favorite. With updated visuals, enhanced gameplay, and new content, this remake is set to thrill both longtime fans and newcomers to the genre.
