NEW BOSS




Don't expect too much complexity in its mechanics, but I guarantee it will be more engaging than the only mini-boss that has been available until now. With a bigger variety, my intention of making the gameplay more random is coming to life. Instead of always facing the same boss, you might encounter a different one. That sense of not having control over certain aspects of the game is what fascinates me the most in this genre, and executing it in a fun way is my biggest goal. From concept to execution, the mechanics of this boss took me about 2 weeks, requiring more time for full implementation.

The next planned content will be: Hardcore Difficulty (if you thought it was hard already, get ready) and a new mini-boss. I’m not sure about the order of implementation, but this will definitely be my next focus.

Since this is my first project, I don’t have much experience or knowledge about how to properly catalog the game's versions, so I opted for a simpler format to understand. Smaller updates will increase the version by 0.0.1, while significant changes will jump by 0.1.0 (hence the leap to 0.3.0). Since this is a “new” version, I decided to register it as 0.3.0 instead of 0.2.4, as I believe the changes warrant a version jump.

All past and future updates serve both for me (as the developer) and for players or future players, allowing them to follow the game's development progress in detail if they're interested. Honestly, it helps me a lot to stay focused. My plan is to bump the version by 0.1.0 whenever something significant is added, such as additional content or a new game mode. The goal is to follow this pattern until I reach the long-awaited version 1.0.0 (the official release), where I’ll have successfully completed the game and made it as polished as possible.

Note: I’ll be taking a week off after these intense weeks to return at full strength, but any urgent bug or glitch fixes will still be implemented if needed.

- fixed a conflict at the end of the round when a player had a Mega Goblin in play while in possession of the Vacuum Cleaner upgrade.
- fixed a bug where the upgraded Monstrous Transformation card gave a Rotten Zombie instead
- fixed a conflic when a player casts Dance Macabre or Chaaarge! (or their upgraded versions) while the Avatar of Death was on the battlefield
- moved a couple TUs after the start of the Round the Sacrifice gain from Destruction Boon to avoid conflicts with other upgrades (this is still under investigation as the bug hasn't been replicated yet)

In this update, we've made significant progress across various aspects of the game. We’ve finalized all the gameplay stories, bringing the game much closer to a fully playable state. Our research system has been revamped to focus more on anomalies, adding more depth with different research types. Researchers will now give unique suggestions based on their experience, making each playthrough feel fresh.

We've also given offices a functional purpose, where NPCs like researchers and doctors can carry out tasks such as writing reports and conducting research. We’ve added new lab objects like particle accelerators and gene sequencers to enhance research specialization and gameplay.

Beyond that, we’ve tackled several small improvements, such as fixing bed sprite issues and implementing a career menu for NPCs. NPC productivity is now influenced by their surroundings, and we’ve added security levels to respond to containment breaches, with lights turning red during emergencies to heighten the atmosphere.

Our fire system has been overhauled, making fire spread more realistically, heating up tiles and igniting objects nearby. NPCs now react more intelligently to fires. Combat mechanics were also redesigned, improving both group and small-scale fights. New weapons have been added, including gas-powered SMGs, sniper rifles, and pistols. While large-scale battles are promising, balancing survivability is still a work in progress.

On the technical side, we developed a custom 3D line algorithm to solve issues with bullets passing through walls. This new algorithm makes projectile interactions more accurate. We’ve also polished visual and sound effects for ordnance, adding more immersion to combat. The OSTF, our security faction, now has custom outfits with gas masks and vests, which will be crucial once gas mechanics are reintroduced.

We’re excited to announce that the game is now fully savable and loadable, a major milestone that took 50 hours of intense coding to achieve. The construction system has also been revamped, allowing objects to require multiple resources, which balances the economy and enriches gameplay.

We’ve added over 50 new dynamic storyteller events, ranging from sinkholes to staff strikes and research breakthroughs, all designed to add complexity and surprise to the game. Finally, we’ve implemented three game over conditions: nuclear failure, employee deaths, and bankruptcy, increasing the stakes for players!
