TL;DR - We are not changing our game's business model, it will remain buy-to-play and not f2p or GaaS.
Recently, an article was published in which we discussed the possible future direction of Palworld and ideas for continuing the game for a long time.
In fact, this interview was conducted several months ago. At that time, we were still considering the best way forward for Palworld to create a long-lasting game that continues to grow. We are still discussing this internally, as it is quite challenging to find the ideal path, but we have already decided that the F2P/GaaS approach is not suitable for us.
Palworld was never designed with that model in mind, and it would require too much work to adapt the game at this point. Additionally, we are very aware that this just isn't what our players want, and we always put our players first.
We are still considering skins and DLC for Palworld in future as a means to support development, but we will discuss this with you all again as we get closer to that point. For now, our priority remains making Palworld the best game possible.
We apologize for any concern this may have caused, and we hope this clarifies our position.
The update is really important, so those who have already completed the demo are invited to play again. The gameplay really feels different now.
The most important thing is that we have added service rooms. That is, any guest who stays at the hotel for more than 3 nights may want:
Food delivery from the kitchen to their room. Accordingly, the hotel must have at least one kitchen.
Washing their dirty clothes. In this case, the guest leaves a basket with dirty clothes in the hallway, and the porter must take it to the laundry. There, the clothes are loaded into the washing machine (or machines). When the washing is finished, the porter takes the clean clothes back to the room.
Take a steam bath in the sauna. The guest themselves goes by elevator to the floor where the sauna is located and occupies one of the rooms in it for a while. One room - one guest.
As you can see, a new important role has been added to the hotel - the porter. They can carry two items on their carts: food, dirty or clean laundry. If you see that one porter can no longer cope with the delivery, you can hire a few more.
Each of the service rooms can be upgraded. For example, in the kitchen, you can increase the speed of cooking, their quality, capacity (affects the number of ready meals that the porter can pick up at any time).
We also added the ability to zoom the camera in and out. This can be done using the mouse wheel. And you can now move the camera to the side using the arrows on the keyboard or the WASD keys. Due to the mentioned changes, the entire demo version level has undergone a serious rebalance. Please let us know about your opinion on this update. Did you like the fact that the gameplay in the game is becoming more profound? As always, we read all messages and try to respond to them.
We remind you that the best way not to miss the release of the game is to add it to your Wishlist. This way, you will receive a message by email at the time of release.

The Wandering Village is turning 2 years old today which means Onbu is celebrating its 1002nd birthday. Happy b-day, big boy!!
We thought this would be a good time to share our updated roadmap leading up to 1.0 with you:
For over 2 months now we’ve been chiseling away at the upcoming ‘Research & Economy Update’ which has been accessible on the Testing branch for a while already. We just pushed a big new update again a few days ago and it’s coming to the main branch in the next few weeks!
We’re currently hard at work implementing the story mode and ruins biome which will be the next update after the Research & Economy one. We also feel like the game needs a bit more depth and variety related to your interactions with Onbu before the 1.0 release of the game which is currently planned for the first half of 2025.
And lastly, to celebrate the occasion we’re running a special 50% off birthday discount for our Strategy Bundle on Steam for a limited time:
This fixes quite a few UI scaling issues in resolutions higher than 768p It fixes possible game crashes when using a warp song in certain situations. It fixes the achievement "A Troublesome Foe" being unattainable. It fixes a bug where standing on a cat statue and using the Aria of Ages would make you fall into the void. It fixes the Beach Warp song not being saved. and quite a few other miscellaneous bugs. There are still a few UI scaling issues that need fixing but they are mostly just Ally profile images loading the wrong size or area titles loading the wrong size. These will be fixed on the next patch. Happy gaming everybody
Small patch to add a few simple features, here's the list:
- Levels now have checkpoints - Sound behaviour reworked to avoid detection through walls - Detection reworked to give players a more forgiving experience
