AI Roguelite - AI Roguelite: AI-generated RPG
Note: At the time of this announcement, this update is currently in the Beta channel and will most likely be pushed to the Regular channel within 24 hours.

Better story illustrations
Instead of passing your story turn verbatim to the image generator, the text generator will generate a visual description of the scene to send to the image generator. Improves coherence of story turn illustrations.

Skill check overhaul
The previous skills system was designed around weaker LLMs which couldn’t follow instructions. The idea was a “shotgun” approach mimicking the chaos of how the brain works in real life, where each action would grow 3 skills, and statistically one of them might match something you learned previously. This approach was unpopular because it was too chaotic, and a little outdated with the capability of smarter LLMs. The new skill system outputs only 1 skill per action. The LLM is fed the entire list of skills in the universe and told to pick a closest matching one or generate a new one if none match (up to a maximum of 100).

Additionally, whereas previously the conversation skills were hardcoded, they are now AI-determined, which means you can have different skills in different contexts. For example, asking for information in a black market may use the skill Streetwise.

Better combat biasing
Improved “power” string mechanic, which previously was only included in some actions and wasn’t influential enough. It is also moddable now. This message indicates the balance of power based on your level difference when in combat with an enemy. There are 5 variants (much stronger, slightly stronger, equal, slightly weaker, much weaker). In particular, the new version makes instant defeats less likely when fighting an enemy close to your level.

As a result of these changes, enemy plot armor was also removed, because it was interfering with story coherence in some cases.

Better item descriptions for looted, foraged, harvested, crafted, and storage items
All of these items are now generated with name and description in one go, and also get the context of their parent object or place description. Please note: mods which edited these prompt files may stop working. To fix this, remove the affected prompts from the modded folder to force it to use the default prompt.

Better and more flexible NPC context
Added NPC descriptions to the prompt, which largely fixes the inconsistent gender issue. As well, now NPCs mentioned in the story get that story turn added to their interaction history (as opposed to only the target of an interaction).

Added a checkbox for whether to disable NPC description auto-update. If disabled, it uses the old mechanism of having a separate “history summary”. The reason I leave it enabled by default is often as you get to know a character, their original description becomes outdated and needs to be re-summarized.

Added button for respawning enemies
Respawning enemies is now player-controlled via a button instead of automatic. Also rewrote the prompt for spawning enemies to include both name and description for better coherence.

Better control/modding support of “full prompt string”
Under chatgpt-prompts, there is a new file called full_prompt_str.txt which specifies how your story context is built (the part of the prompt preceding your action sent to the story generator). Editing this file influences all prompts which use ${FULL_PROMPT_STR}. Please note the lack of newlines is intentional, to account for the case where the string doesn’t exist (if it does exist, the newlines will be inserted by the game).

Added the following cheat codes:
npc [name]: Spawn an npc with the given name
ene [name]: Spawn an enemy with the given name
thing [name]: Spawn a thing with the given name

Improved “minor failure” from conversation (no more Sheepishly)
Instead of making you “sheepishly” say the thing, a minor failure in conversation now suggests to the AI that the character’s reaction may not be entirely what you intended. Thus minor failures are now enabled by default.

Better mood debuff mechanic
Added a field called chatgpt_zero_status_str which inserts itself into the prompt when the survival bars reach 0. Mods can use it. This is less annoying than having a random % chance to trigger a low-mood story overriding your action.

Configurable basic action roll check minimum
Changed "disable critical failures" option to a slightly more flexible one where you can specify the minimum roll of talking or using a consumable on yourself. Options are critical failure, minor failure, or minor success; default is minor failure.

Farming check
Added an AI check for farming. The farm UI is now only available for places that could conceivably be used for harvesting/processing.

Misc
  • Tweaked a large number of prompts (event checks and otherwise) to improve accuracy. Some mods may be outdated. The easiest way to see which prompts were modified is to go into the relevant "default" folder and sort by Date descending. Most (not all) touched files have been modified; some may have been modified but reverted.
  • Started limiting token length for some texts other than just full prompt string, with generous limits that won't affect the vast majority of users. If you go over, a warning will be displayed in the story view, but the game will proceed normally.
  • Added learned name to the list of event checks that can be player-confirmable.
  • Increased description length and greatly reduced chance of ambiguous gender of generated NPCs.
  • Added creative mode option to name the location/region you’re going into.
  • Added AI-determined vendor/merchant logic.
  • Added logic using AI to determine whether a character went with you if you changed locations.
  • Separated defeated vs dead entities to avoid situation where horde of zombies is defeated if one zombie is killed.
  • Fixed bug where initial images were being generated twice in a row.
  • Improved responsiveness of the console.
  • Fixed bugs in NSFW fallback in cloud text gen services. Please report issues if you run into any more.
  • Equipment slot check now includes item description.
  • Fixed a couple bugs related to mention of a new location.
  • Fixed “(blocked)” or “(locked)” issue with place names/descriptions.
  • Fixed bug in map UI where a stale location image would be displayed in location details.
  • Fixed bug in map UI where location description wasn’t scrollable all the way to the bottom.
  • Added a bracketed note when NPC dies even if it was dead according to event checks (in case it was ambiguous in the story). The case where it was dead according to event checks is already covered by the extra turn implemented in the previous update.
  • Fixed bug where enemy sometimes didn’t get a turn in combat.
  • Prevented new location from triggering if it matches existing thing name.
  • Slightly increased image gen prefix text box size.
  • Fixed bug when pressing Undo after marking a task as complete.
  • AI decision icons should now remain clickable if an error occurred during processing.
  • Regions are now highlighted if matching the filter string in map search.

Euro Truck Simulator 2 - Tiktak
We are excited to share with our community that the 1.51 update for Euro Truck Simulator 2 is now officially released! Packed with new content, reworked map sections, UI changes, bug fixes and more, let's dive in and take a look at what's in store.


Before that, we have to give a huge shoutout to everyone who participated in the Open Beta phase, shared feedback, and reported bugs. Your invaluable contributions have allowed us to fine-tune content and eliminate bugs that slipped through the cracks initially. We hope that you will enjoy the new features, changes, and more that come with this update!


New Title Screen
One of the first and most prominent changes you will encounter in this update is a complete redesign of our Title Screen. Whilst keeping in line with our recent user interface rework, we wanted a design which is easy to navigate and understand for all players.


First and foremost, one of the main differences you can notice about the new Title Screen is the focus on a truck in the centre of the screen. On the left, you can find the menu which allows easy access to the more important features of the game, such as Options, and other sub-menus such as the DLC (formerly DLC Browser) and the Mod Manager, which displays the number of MODs active next to it if you have any installed.

To access your Profile Manager, just simply click your profile widget located in the top right of the menu screen.


Functionally, we have also made navigation more comfortable with a gamepad or a steering wheel, requiring less time reaching for a keyboard from the moment you launch ETS2 or ATS. This design also leaves us space to make tweaks and changes where needed, as well as make additions in the future.

Germany Rework - Bremen, Kassel, Osnabrück and Magdeburg
As part of our ongoing Germany Rework project, we are excited to announce that the cities of Bremen, Kassel, Osnabrück, and Magdeburg have been completely re-worked and are included for free as part of the 1.51 update for Euro Truck Simulator 2.



Players checking out these areas can travel on new and improved road networks, deliver to accurately represented industries in the area, discover and explore landmarks and more! Each of these areas has been rebuilt completely from scratch, utilizing new mapping techniques and technology.

Custom City Intros for Italia and Beyond the Baltic Sea DLCs
In this update, we have slightly reworked all of the in-game intros for every city in the Italia and Beyond the Baltic Sea DLCs with an ownable garage. With seventeen cities in the Italia DLC and twenty-four in the Beyond the Baltic Sea DLC, a total of 41 cities have received new or updated Custom City Intros!



Truck Interior Shadows Improvement
We've also taken the time to create a more realistic visualization of a truck's interior shadows through our new tool called Interior Shadow Tweaker. It allows us to create a simplified cage around the cabin of the truck blocking incoming light thus improving the realism of the lighting reflected in the interior of the cabin. No more washed-out materials in the interior when you are passing another truck, lamp or police beacon. We hope you enjoy this small but notable improvement to your trucking experience!








Options QoL Improvements
The main change is the addition of a search bar for easier navigation across all settings categories. When a search is conducted, matches are displayed in the current setting category, and sections where the search term also appears are highlighted.


We have also reorganized the existing options in the settings for better clarity. These options are now divided into subcategories within each section. Additionally, two new categories, "Interface" and "Accessibility," have been added to the bottom menu for better clarity.


We've also introduced some changes that provide ease of access when it comes to changing the Desktop Background in ETS2. You can now change your menu background directly using a shortcut from the main menu, or alternatively, you can access the same option via the interface section in your settings.


However, that's not all! We've now also made it possible to preview your backgrounds before changing them. Simply click on the background of your choice via the carousel, and you'll be presented with a short preview of how it will look, before confirming your selection.


Players will also be notified through a small widget on the main menu if they have received a new Desktop Background option as part of an event reward or update. Clicking on this will also direct you to the new settings that have been implemented in this update.

As a bonus to better desktop background visualization, we've also added a new background named 'Black light studio'. We hope that you like it! Be sure to check it out.

New Controller Config
We are enhancing the controller settings system, which will enable players to control the game with ease and offer them more flexibility and control. These changes will also pave the way for exciting future projects! Not only will you now be able to control more game features while using only your controller, but we also tried to set up the controls in a way that resembles driving a vehicle in real life which we hope will be natural and more immersive for you!



Although these changes will improve the controller settings and make it easier for players using controllers to engage with the game, there may be some cases where customized control settings could be affected. Unfortunately, players who have heavily modified their control layouts through the Steam controller configuration UI and shifted them from the default settings may see their custom configurations reset to default after the update.

Automatic Differential Lock + Blind Spot Sensor
We're also happy to introduce the option to enable and disable the Blind Spot Sensor and Automatic Differential Lock.


The Automatic Differential Lock helps manage traction in difficult driving conditions by automatically engaging when needed. The Blind Spot Sensor provides visual and audible warnings to improve safety when changing lanes.
