Today, we want to specifically touch on the PC experience for Dragon Age: The Veilguard. The Dragon Age franchise started out on PC, and we wanted to make sure PC is a great place to play our game. Many of us at BioWare are PC players ourselves, and when testing, PCs made up 40% of our platform testing effort, with over 200,000 hours of performance and compatibility testing. Getting the PC experience just right was crucial to us and we created a dedicated team to focus on PC. We canโt wait for you to experience it for yourselves!
Letโs talk about inputs first. We wanted to ensure the controls and UI are a good experience for both KBM and controllers; so we did close to 10,000 hours of user research testing to make sure of it. Dragon Age: The Veilguard will feature native support for PS5 DualSense controllers with haptics support in addition to the standard of Xbox controllers & keyboard + mouse. Additionally, you can seamlessly transition between controllers or keyboard + mouse while playing or in menus. There are many different ways to play our game; so, in order to allow you to find the most comfortable set-up, weโve added the ability to customize class-specific keybinds that you can easily switch between. This means that your Rogue Rook can use a different set of keybinds than your Warrior Rook, if youโd like!
Along with the standard resolution options, we also have full support for 21:9 Ultrawide monitors. Donโt worry; we didnโt forget the cinematics, either - just disable the option titled โCinematic Aspect Ratio.โ This will remove the enforced black bars; so you can watch the cinematics in full ultra widescreen glory. No matter what size monitor youโre rocking, you can adjust your FOV with an FOV slider in the Settings. There will be an option for uncapped framerate, as well. Weโre also launching with full HDR support.
Most changes to Graphics and Display Settings are reflected in real time, and you can see the impacts of those changes through the cutout in the UI. This will help you make informed decisions as you tweak your game to look exactly how you want. For a full list of Settings, check the rest of the blog below!
We know a lot of you play on Steam, and we wanted to meet you where you are. Weโre happy to be completely Steam Native for Dragon Age: The Veilguard! Weโre already Steam Deck Verified; and with Cloud Save on Steam supported, you can seamlessly switch back and forth between your PC and your Steam Deck as much as you want, with no interruption to your progress. We also have Remote Play enabled if youโd rather play on your TV! If youโd like to utilize it, there will be a completely optional linking process to your EA Account.
If you want to hear about a few advanced settings and options for the PC community, letโs go over that now. We support a suite of Ray Tracing features, as well as an โUltra RTโ mode for extremely high end rigs. We have several types of upscaling available: NVIDIA DLSS 3, FSR 2.2 which has been heavily modified, specifically for the game, and XeSS. We also support DLSS 3 with frame generation and NVIDIA Reflex. As we have more PC features to share, weโll circle back on those before launch.
Weโre inching closer to our release date of October 31, 2024! We still have more information coming on Combat, the Companions, Exploration, and more; so keep your eyes peeled on our socials. We are eager to see your battle stations running Dragon Age: The Veilguard and the resulting screenshots. Chat soon!

Important for Intel 13th and 14th generation owners
Please be informed that there are increasing cases of Intel 13th and 14th CPUs being defective. Defective CPU samples are unstable and Intravenous 2 is very sensitive to CPU instability.
Due to this the game might crash with CPUs of these generations for no good reason. Unfortunately, I am unable to do anything about this. Owners of Intel 13th and 14th generation processors can work around this by reducing the processor's clockrate (generally called "ratio" in intel software) to avoid these crashes. Please find a guide on how to do this if you are experiencing issues.
Hey folks! This patch fixes a bunch of issues recently reported by the community. If you have reported an issue, but don't see a fix for it in this list, please understand that I am currently prioritizing mainly critical issues, and everything else that I have the time for.
- achievement fixes: * fixed "True Pacifist" achievement not unlocking under certain circumstances (if the player had killed at least 1 enemy on levels played as Sean) * fixed money-related achievements not pending an unlock check when starting a new playthrough in New Game+ * the game now tracks all kills (enemies killing enemies and followers killing enemies as player kills) as player-made kills, to prevent cases where enemy friendly fire would lock the player out of the "Duality of Man", "Wetworks", and "Punisher" achievements * these fixes are, unfortunately, not possible to apply retroactively, and getting "Duality of Man" will require playing through the campaign again, since enemy friendly fire did not count as player kills, and even a single enemy dying in enemy friendly fire disqualified the player from the achievement
- rewrote the way the game handles tracking object data between saves, to support retroactive additions of new objects to existing levels saved on previous versions of the game - this was done to further adjust game levels in the future - fixed goons returning fire/laying down suppressive fire in an excessive manner - fixed a crash that could occur when loading into a savefile while taking damage - fixed two crashes related to weapons when dying and resetting after being in combat/etc. - fixed a crash that occured when changing the game resolution under certain circumstances - fixed incorrect native resolution display across all but english and russian localizations - fixed "gun kills" tool usage counting for more than 1 per each shotgun pellet that hit an actor in the same frame - fixed goons not being of the proper height and physical properties when knocked down and immediately knocked out - fixed the description for the "Auto-grab ammo" difficulty mutator - when finishing a game on the "Custom" difficulty, the game will now log all unlocks for the "Normal" and below difficulties (previously it didn't unlock anything) - the "Custom" difficulty will now draw unlocks for New Game+ from difficulties "Normal" and below (was from "True") - goons now lose all their velocity when knocked out, to prevent tunneling into walls/obstacles - reverted back to LuaJIT 2.0.5 - I suspect some of the issues regarding AI pathfinding arise from bugs in LuaJIT 2.1

We have released an update called โNew Facesโ. Let's find out what's new!
New skins for NPCs
These are the very โnew facesโ. We decided to diversify the appearance of our NPCs by increasing the number of looks.
Fixes:
-Fixed bugs that caused the queue of customers to get stuck, making it impossible to serve them. -Fixed game crashes related to knockout after a fight and the box recycler. -Fixed a bug that caused the story to interrupt if the player chose to stay with a friend in the restaurant. -Fixed typos in text. -Fixed a bug with phantom dirt that caused customers to put bad reviews. -Fixed display of the list of keys for combat in some situations. -Fixed a bug because of which some skills did not work when restarting the game.
As I'm working on my demo (a big one...), I have been sidetracked for a week or two by the GGX event on September 20-21 in Gothenburg. RunicCodes will be there! I'm about to show of my game for the first time ever, but since it's such an enormous mini-open world adventure, I thought it would be impossible to get any feedback from guests by simply letting them play the game without any objectives.
So, I did it the RunicCodes way; I went all in. I've sealed off a small portion of the game and created an "in-game GGX event" where you can stroll around and talk to the locals - also, your date Sakura-Chan is waiting for you there! Some of the dialogues are from the original game, while others are made just for this event.
The idea is to give the player a feel for the game and delve into the bombastic dialogue system and my super diverse cast of characters. I've been extremely busy making UI images for all NPCs where they show emotions. This took forever but is totally worth it. The dialogues are so much better when the NPCs show facial expressions based on how you steer the conversation.
The goal is to release the demo here on Steam as well, unless it's too complicated and unless I can replace the GGX demo with the actual demo I've been working on.
Stay tuned and wait for a demo update shortly after GGX (September 20-21, 2024).
