GreedFall II: The Dying World - Nacon


The Early Access for GreedFall 2 begins on September 24th, and we're excited to share more news about this upcoming title. Today, we're focusing on our new combat system.

Companions were well-received in the first game, and in GreedFall 2, we want to give them an even greater role in both the story and gameplay. To achieve this, we've developed a combat system that allows you to have full control over them during battles, enhancing the feeling of being a cohesive team that lives and grows together.

Introduction to the Combat System


In GreedFall 2, you have the freedom to choose whether to use tactical pause during each battle or remain in real-time.

The tactical pause feature lets you pause the fight to plan your actions, give specific orders to your companions—whether it’s moving them, activating skills, or planning combos—and anticipate enemy movements to devise the best strategy. You can also use skills in real-time for a more dynamic combat experience.



Each companion can progress according to different skill trees related to their profile. Take Nilan, our archer, for example. He has three distinct branches: Bows, Path of Charity, and Nilan’s Path. These three paths offer unique skill choices that will influence Nilan’s role within your team.

You have the freedom to create your own style by selecting skills from these different trees, allowing you to build highly specialized characters or hybrid builds without being forced to commit to a single path. Moreover, you can reset your choices, offering total flexibility to adapt your strategies according to the needs of your adventure.

As you journey through the mysterious lands of GreedFall 2, the strategic management of your group will become a key element to your success in combat. You’ll need to choose who accompanies you based on your strategy. In battle, position your companions wisely and exploit their synergy to maximize their effectiveness. Each team member possesses unique skills and can be an essential piece in your overall strategy.

Equipment also plays a crucial role, with weapons, armor, and accessories offering varied stats that you can tailor to each of your companions. Whether you want a robust warrior, a powerful mage, or a support specialist, each character can be optimized to meet the specific demands of each battle.



In addition to managing your companions, your own tactical expertise will be tested. You’ll have the ability to give precise orders to each group member using action points, a resource you recover by performing basic attacks or using potions. You can also recover your action points by resting outside of combat. Take advantage of the dynamic environment around you—use elements of the scenery, position yourself at higher ground, to create tactical opportunities and gain a strategic edge. It’s up to you to coordinate your attacks in the best possible way to defeat your enemies.



With the Survival, Craft and Alchimy talents, you will be able to loot resources to craft items and potions to enhance your combat performance. By exploring the world and collecting resources, you can create or find a variety of useful items, ranging from weapons to healing potions and deadly traps. These items can be used to boost your abilities, heal your wounds and those of your companions, or even weaken your enemies. The crafting system adds an additional layer of strategy and depth to the gameplay experience.



Tailoring the Game to Your Preferences

The new combat system in GreedFall 2 has been designed to appeal to all types of players, whether they are newcomers or seasoned fans of tactical pause games. We want every player to be able to create their own experience according to their preferences. Difficulty settings also allow the game to be adjusted to different playstyles.
You can customize the game to suit your preferences, whether you're looking for an intense tactical challenge or a narrative-driven experience where your fate depends on your decisions.



You'll have the option to adjust the damage your team takes, recovery time, and the damage inflicted on enemies. These three parameters can be adjusted independently of each other. You can even choose to take no damage at all if you want to focus 100% on the narrative aspect.
In addition to these settings, there's an option to make your companions autonomous, allowing the AI to manage their actions if you prefer to concentrate on your character only
Through these various settings, we hope to create the best possible experience, and we'll continue down this path during Early Access by being attentive to all feedback.

After careful consideration, we’ve made the decision to postpone the Early Access release by two weeks.

Instead of launching on September 3rd, we are now targeting a new release date of September 18th.

This additional time will help us ensure we deliver the best possible experience for you. In appreciation of your patience and support, we’re excited to share some exclusive development updates:
  • Extended Race Lengths: Based on your feedback, we are making the races longer, sprint races will now be 15 laps, and endurance races will be 30 laps. This also implies rebalancing all stats and strategies to enhance gameplay.
  • HQ and Team Management Evolution: We’re fine-tuning the budget and costs to ensure a well-balanced management experience. The HQ is being reworked and your progression will be visually more impactful as you advance from an emerging team manager to an elite team, you’ll start with a modest base of operations and see it evolve as you advance through the leagues.
  • Content Updates: All cars, liveries, and drivers are currently being implemented. Stay tuned as we reveal the full lineup for each category in the coming days.
  • Visual and Audio Enhancements: We’re polishing 3D and 2D elements, introducing exciting new animations like podium celebrations, and updating the race HUD. Additionally, we are working on sound improvements regarding race atmosphere and car engines.
Our primary goal is to make GT Manager as enjoyable as possible, and we believe this brief delay will help us achieve that.

Today we released a patch for version 0.58.3 that fixes various bugs and introduces some improvements.

Changelog:

  • Fixed minor design issues in the "Foothills" location.
  • Resolved an issue with one of the sun spider spawn points in the "Foothills" location.
  • Added mailboxes to the "Foothills" location. As a result, the mail sending fees in the "Tunnels" and "Testing Grounds" locations have been revised.
  • Merchants at the entrance to the "Foothills" location now sell mines.
  • Points now accumulate at half the speed when holding radio towers in the "Foothills" location during captures. Some players couldn't even buy ammunition in time, while the opposing faction was better prepared. This led to one side not even making it to the fight while the opponent was almost done collecting the points needed for victory (the opponent prepared in advance, and you didn’t).
  • The requirements for using the mortar have been changed. It now requires 7 Strength instead of 6 Accuracy as before.
  • The recon drone now loses only 2% durability per launch instead of 10%.
  • Fixed an issue where the recon drone couldn't find all the stashes.
  • The event in the "Black Sunset Camp" can now be triggered if there are at least 2 players in the camp. The cooldown of this event has also been reduced.
  • Fixed an issue where the motorcycle could not be used if the character previously entered an anomaly.
  • Fixed minor design issues in the "Solnechny Outskirts" location.
  • Fixed minor design issues in the "Arena of Drones" location.
  • Due to incorrect time settings on the player's PC (wrong time zone or time lagging/advancing), various timers in the game may display incorrect information. To address this, an experimental function has been introduced to adjust the display of game timers, taking into account the incorrect time settings on the player's computer. These timers will now account for client-side time discrepancies. However, please note that a small margin of error may still exist, and we strongly recommend setting up time synchronization on your system to minimize any inaccuracies.
  • Continued work on optimization.

- Added several missing sounds.
- Added Visuals on the mana bar for the Empower mechanic.

Changes
- Changed the distribution of Name and Description for Spell Cards.
- Improved mana bar fill-up timings.
- Mad Clones status has been renamed to Mad.
- Ignite now triggers with Debuffs applied from passives.
- Gain mana next turn mechanic now uses a keyword: Overflow.
- Legendary Passive Perks are no longer shown on the Hero HUD in Raids.
- Many minor UI adjustments have been made.
- Raid: Killing the Bosses will grant 15-20 more gold.

- Healing and Shielding now give 15% more Ultimate Charges.
- (Ran) Ripple Effect: Strong values adjusted to 50% at level 10.
- (Igniel) Phoenix Bond: Charges needed reduced by 15%.
- (Freyana) Flower Shower: Charges needed increased by 20%, changed Full Dispel for Dispel 1 (can be added with a new Perk).
- (Kong) Golden Pupils: Removed Draw 1 (can be added with a new Perk), now dispels all debuffs from Kong.
- (Giovanna) Pentahex: Removed Mighty (can be added with a new Perk).
- (Takeda) Mad Clones: Charges needed have been reduced by 15%. Mighty removed from self Mad debuff.
- (Takeda) Glacial Shards: Condition has been removed (can be added with a new Perk).
- (Reef) Shield Bash: Shield amount multiplier increased from 100% to 120%.
- (Reef) Safe Harbor: Bastion removed (can be added with a new Perk).
- (Servius) Imp-molation: Self-damage is now True Damage, Servius will always die after cast.
- (Servius) Magnetic Field: Magnet is now Mighty.
- (Servius) Timed Doom: Removed Mighty (can be added with a new Perk) charges needed have been increased by 8%.
Spells
- Burning Hex no longer applies conditions before dealing damage.
Perks
- Angelic Halo: Support reduced from 20% to 15%
- Captain’s Hat: Doesn’t trigger with instant spells.
- Explosive Detonator: Damage reduced by half.
- Leaf Amulet: Healing amount reduced by 33%.
- Infernal Ring: Changed to "Attacking a Wounded Target: Draw 1"
- Arcane Symbol: Now also increases the mana cost of Instant Spells by 2.
- Flaming Insignia: Ignite values doubled.
- Vigor Gem: Strong increased to 25%.
- Lake’s Blessing Triforce Perk regains Surge 1, and scaling Strong 15-25%.
- Phoenix Raze Random Debuf Perk list changed.
Raids
- Health Points of the stage 27 Minibosses reduced
- League Scaling stats have been slightly reduced for Silver leagues and above.
