Game Refactoring and Major Development Changes Announcement

Introduction
Dear players, we are very grateful for your contribution to the development of the game and your active support of our ideas. When we launched Egg Surprise, to be honest, we did not anticipate such a result and, sadly, were not prepared for such active growth. We had to adapt to the situation, increase protection, engage in very active content expansion, and generally provide service and support for the project’s servers. All of this led to us lacking the focus needed to promote the game.

We made many mistakes in our actions and want to express our immense gratitude for your patience and faith in our development. Finally, we are ready to openly share our plans for the game’s future.

I will now detail what will be reworked and what to expect in the future, and I ask you to be patient and read this post to the end.

Market Economy
Our market economy concept was to create real item scarcity through gameplay. We did not want to fall into the trap of other clickers, where scarcity is created solely by changing drop rates and creating fake items for purchase with developer funds to convince the community of a living economy. We chose to develop gameplay cycles and will continue to develop the project in this way, but we have addressed all the shortcomings associated with our model and are ready to offer you an improved version of this model.

  • From now on, there will be no large stockpiles of "cheap" items on the Steam marketplace and in your inventories. They will all become part of the inventory logic and internal trading system. On the Steam marketplace, you will only trade three types of items for real money: different denominations of in-game currency, Pencoin.
  • The internal store will represent a market between players with a model similar to Steam’s, but the fee for trading will be Pencoin. This will be a single currency whose value is directly determined by the market, with no possibility of aggressive manipulation.

What problems does this solve?
  • Trading will no longer depend on your country’s currency, which caused inconvenience for some regions. Since all item prices will be determined by in-game currency, they will not depend on your country’s exchange rates.
  • The game will offer tools for converting Pencoin of different denominations so that players from regions with expensive currencies can buy high-denomination coins in bulk and then convert them in-game into lower-denomination coins.

What else will change in the market model?
  • Now, some crafting and activity results will be income in the form of Pencoin, which will reduce the amount of content we need to produce for updates.
  • This will also allow for more flexible item balance management and prevent players from losing focus among hundreds of items.
  • We will offer a modified item acquisition format, where players will earn in-game currency with some variability depending on luck for active gameplay (such as clicking), rather than final items. All items will now be obtained through crafting and upgrades.

These are not all the changes, but they reflect our readiness to address current issues.

Gameplay
We have taken into account players' comments that the game is too focused on the market model and does not provide gameplay activities for those who did not come to earn money.

I want to assure you that in the revamped version of the game, we have given immense attention to gameplay and focused on making the process as independent as possible from financial relationships. That is, the game will provide all the necessary tools for achieving any values in the game, but of course, it will require a lot of effort and time.

  • The game will be completely autonomous from the need to follow news in our communities, chats, and various documents. All necessary instructions and rules for the game will be placed directly in the gameplay.
  • You will see most game activities, such as expeditions, crafting, and various activities, displayed on your screen as 2D visuals.
  • You will not need to constantly monitor your inventory for the needed resources and will not have to leave the game window to play.
  • We will significantly rebalance the game in favor of previously mentioned development branches: farming, military craft, adventuring, and so on. This will be a full-fledged economic strategy with gameplay features, and trading with players will become an option for those who wish to participate.

In other words, our priority is to further develop Egg Surprise into a complete game, not just a simple player-to-player trading simulator. Therefore, we commit to meeting the definition of a game.

Development Discipline
You have repeatedly encountered issues due to developer mistakes or lack of awareness in the project, and we understand that we were wrong. Our idea is to increase the intervals between updates and ensure a proper approach to testing the product before release.

  • Before transitioning to the updated model, there will be several rounds of testing before providing you with the final product. We plan to test the project with the first 10 selected people, then 100 people will get access, and only after debugging all errors will we provide access to all players.
  • Future updates and project changes will go through testing stages, and if the product is found to be insufficiently ready, we will not publish an "unfinished version" but will take additional time for development.
  • Additionally, our approach to development will change in terms of time planning, with announcements of updates or changes occurring only when the planned change is ready.

We greatly appreciate your trust and hope that in the future, we will make far fewer mistakes.

What Will Happen with Old Items and the Current State of the Game?
Considering your investments, we will offer a fair transition to the new model for all current players, allowing you not only to transfer your current progress but also to receive a proportional amount of resources and a new opportunity to reconsider your development strategy in the project. We still do not have a final solution on how exactly this will be implemented, but we are confident that you will like this format.

What decisions can be made now?
  • Conversion of all items to in-game currency at the ratio of the current market value of the item.
  • Transfer of all items to the format of game items with replacement of some (non-transferable) items at a ratio to the value in the new currency.

The exact solution will be announced later.

Project Promotion and Advertising
The current situation, due to the game looking and playing like a simple clicker, imposes serious limitations on promotion. People are quite skeptical about clickers given the failures and negative advertising associated with them. If the transition to a full-fledged game format happens, we will be able to more actively engage various advertising channels and effectively attract a new audience.

  • Additional traffic will be received from players who have never participated in Steam market trading before; they will come to play the game.
  • More advertising channels that previously refused us due to the game’s format will be connected.
  • Serious preparatory work will be done before attracting players to avoid losing new traffic as we did before.

Conclusion and Announcement
Ladies and gentlemen, we have long been working towards this decision and considered various scenarios for project development, including artificially increasing the online to be noticed by Steam’s algorithms. But after studying the market and seeing unsuccessful cases of such approaches, we made the only viable decision for project development - to become a full-fledged game and stop exploiting the trading platform as the core of the game model.

We aim to create an economic strategy with a focus on created lore and gameplay mechanics, as well as social activities such as raids, clans, PvP, and more.

The game plans to continue its development in this direction, and there will be a very smooth transition from the current game to the new one. This does not mean that there is no reason to continue playing now; all the values earned will become a good start in the new game and allow you to get ahead of other players in development. But we also recognize the importance of maintaining a balance for newcomers and will offer mechanisms for fair competition and development.

Basic Information about Equipment



▶ Base Abilities
These are the properties set when an item is obtained, which remain unchanged even if the equipment undergoes processing. The higher the item level, the more likely it is to have better abilities.



▶ Equipment Quality (Item Grade) and Affixes
In Seraph, there are four types of equipment quality, with the number of affixes that can be obtained varying according to the item's level.



▶ Affixes are divided into prefixes and suffixes. Depending on the item level, the maximum number of affixes that can be added is as follows:



① Common and Unique quality equipment consist only of Base Stats and cannot have their affixes added or removed.
② Common quality equipment will definitely not have affixes, whereas Unique quality equipment can have up to 7 affixes.

▶ Unable to Repaired : When general equipment durability is consumed, it can be repaired at a blacksmith NPC. But If there is a message, it cannot be used when durability is consumed.
▶ Item Binding Status
Even items of the same type can differ based on their binding status, categorized into character-bound, account-bound, and tradable items.



Quality Forge



▶ Equipment quality modification can increase the number of affixes based on the equipment's quality, adding one affix and thereby adding one attribute entry to the equipment.
▶ Even after modifying equipment quality, the equipment’s “Base Attributes” will not change.



▶ After a quality transformation, for example, from Magic to Rare, the prefixes and suffixes obtained when the equipment was Magic will not change, each increasing by 2 entries.
※ There is a certain probability that the affixes could end up being empty.
※ The amount of materials required varies depending on the item level. If the item level exceeds 60, a certain amount of soul crystals will also be required.



Affixes



▶ Affix-related gameplay options include the following 7 types, which can be selected from the options on the right after inserting the equipment.
Choosing different gameplay options requires different materials:



▶ Once the equipment is placed, the required materials and their quantities will be automatically displayed. Material items can also be used in different binding states.
Clicking this button will show the possible attribute types and their probabilities.



Clicking this button will provide detailed value ranges and their probabilities.





Forge

▶ Materials related to equipment can be obtained through equipment disassembly, the quantity required varies depending on the item level.
▶ For equipment levels exceeding 60, a certain amount of Soul Crystals is also required.





Salvage



▶ Equipment dismantling can be carried out by the Blacksmith NPC.

▶ When dismantling equipment, the materials obtained vary depending on the quality of the equipment, including guaranteed materials and materials obtained by chance.



Skill & Item

▶ Choose equipment with attributes that increase skill levels!
If relying solely on skill points, each skill can only reach up to level 20.
However, if you have equipment with attributes that boost skill levels, then these skills can be further enhanced.



▶ Look for equipment with life or mana regeneration attributes!
During intense combat, it's easy to forget to drink potions, and your character could be killed by monsters as a result. Some equipment attributes allow you to recover some health or mana when killing or hitting monsters. If you fight with equipment that has these attributes, you can focus more on monster farming.




▶ Although attack power itself is important, choosing equipment with attributes that increase overall speed from the start to the end of an attack, like attack speed, cast speed, and fast hit recovery, is better!
Equipment with high attack power is a good foundation, but items that may have slightly lower attack power but enhance the detailed attack process, like attack speed, cast speed, and fast hit recovery, could be more beneficial.

▶ Don't forget to allocate skill points to skills with synergy bonuses!
Investing in certain skills can enhance related skills. So, some skills may not be used directly, but assigning skill points to them can bring numerical improvements to commonly used skills.
For example, enhancing the Barbarian's "Quick Throw" skill will also increase the damage of the "Whirlwind Axe" and "Storm Throw" skills.



▶ A distinction of SERAPH from other MMORPG games is that, compared to the numeric values of equipment, the skills and the attribute entries of equipment are more important.

Players can decide which types of skills to develop based on their habits and the items they have acquired, creating gameplay routes that align with their own gaming preferences.

Additionally, SERAPH will adopt a seasonal operation mode. The SERAPH development team will continuously work on various aspects such as game balance, listen to the players' opinions, and co-create the future with the players.

Today, I am here to share preview about Hotfix 1.0.7. We're aiming to release Hotfix 1.0.7 on Tuesday, August 13th, as we need additional time to verify some issues. In the meantime, I'd like to share some key updates in this hotfix.

First, we’re adjusting the options for the Infiltration Operation on Hard Mode. The ‘Grappling Hook Disabled’ and ‘Jump Disabled’ options will be removed from the selection list. Additionally, the Select All option will no longer be deselected when changes are made after selecting all options. Moreover, we’re planning further improvements for the Infiltration Operation on Hard Mode in Season 1. These include removing Occupation tasks and focusing more on Eliminations. We’re also replacing the random combination of options with preset selections and expanding matchmaking parameters.

Next, let’s talk about content adjustments. We’re going to add some extra time for you to choose restart option after completing Intercept Battles, Special Operations, and Infiltration Operations. For your preference, ‘Restart with Squad’ and ‘Restart Alone’ buttons will be provided.
Additionally, we’re making characters invincible when standing on hazardous areas after intercept are done, making use of the ‘Reconstructed Device’ more convenient.
The difficulty of the ‘Frost Walker’ mechanism will be adjusted so you can enjoy this void intercept battle through public matchmaking more easily.
In Special Operation, AFK players will be moved automatically to the 'Abort' selection during Interim Review. Also, monsters’ HP will be reduced, and more ammo will be dropped easily in Void Fusion Reactors.
Monster spawn intervals are shortened in Void Fragments (Poison Attribute) located at 'Echo Swamp - Derelict Covert'.
We're also addressing the issue where weapon proficiency is not gained for equipped weapons when using Unique Weapons, such as during Luna’s ‘Stage Presence’.

Lastly, we have usability improvements. We will enhance your farming experience with several improvements. In Hotfix 1.0.7, we’re adding a feature that allows you to quickly identify key information about your equipment by looking at icons in the inventory. You'll be able to see how many ultimate options an item has without opening its tooltip and identify the attributes & Arche types of Reactors through icons. Additionally, we’re speeding up the tooltip display to help you sort valuable items more efficiently.

One last thing! From previous patch note where we discussed plans to support build diversity, we noticed discussions in the community about whether socket types need to be assigned eleven times for each loadout pages.
Rest assured; we aim to support build diversity in a more user-friendly manner. If you prefer to use the same socket type across Loadout Pages 1, 2, and 3, your current setup will remain unchanged. Socket type assignments will only be required if you want different socket types for each loadout.

You're all in for a treat with this update! It's jam packed with new additions, including a new map, a new game mode, a handy new grenade to help in those dire situations and other changes to which we’ll get stuck into shortly!

Let’s take a look at what’s to come:

New Game Mode - Touchdown

In this action-packed game mode, teams compete to grab the ball and score by getting it to the enemy gates! To score points, you must take the ball into the opposing team's goal. But watch out! The ball holder moves slower and has less stamina, so quick reflexes and smart teamwork are the name of the game!

- Pass the ball to your teammates, but watch out for any enemies hanging around!
- You can’t use your weapons while you’ve got the ball, so teamwork is key!
- To score, just carry the ball into the goal.



New Map - Cosmopolis

We can’t have a new game mode without a new map, right? Of course not! Say hello to Cosmopolis, our latest addition to the map pool!

Cosmopolis has a symmetrical layout which will involve a fair amount of close range combat engagements and plenty of opportunities to use the map's geometry for speed and momentum!



New Weapon - Patchdoc

The new healing grenade known as the Patchdoc was teased in the past, but now available to bag!

It creates a healing explosion when it lands, giving everyone in the blast radius an instant health boost and ongoing regeneration.

You can grab the Patchdoc from Blueprints in the crafting menu or by opening weapon parcels and crates. Here are the drop chances:

Gameplay Changes

Weapon crates will now randomly drop at each team’s spawn grid. Inside, you’ll find weapons ranging from regular to ultimate. To see what’s inside, just punch the box really hard. Or, you know, shoot it. Both work!

Game Servers & Languages

We've got some fantastic news to share as our game servers are now live and kicking across the globe! That means more players, more fun, all platforms and with our optimized servers, you can say goodbye to lag and hello to seamless gameplay!

SquadBlast is also available in most countries worldwide, and to celebrate, we've added support for 10+ more languages. This means SquadBlast is now localized into your own language! If you want to revert back to English, simply go to Settings > Languages and select English.

We're expanding our global coverage by adding the following languages:

- Portuguese
- Portuguese Brazil
- Spanish Mexican
- Turkish
- Polish
- Japanese (available on Web and Android devices soon)
- Korean (available on Web and Android devices soon)
- Vietnamese
- Fillipines
- Thai (available on Web and Android devices soon)
