Nocturne - Jaxien ☆
After many years of development, we've released our first public Demo.
The demo features the first chapter of the game, which is about 90 minutes of gameplay!

Crimson Veil - MKRU
Another week goes by, another progress update for you all. I updated the lore bible from last week to fill out some of the parts I hadn’t yet written. There's more I want to add to it, such as the character portraits, but for now I’m using it as a reference sheet that can be easily accessed through google docs. If I make it look fancy now, it could make it cumbersome to scroll through at a moment’s notice, so that’s a project for another time.

However, some of you who’ve read certain parts of it will notice that I made a change to the lore. Specifically with the name of Viviene’s Dark Lord. I’ve gone back and updated every instance (I could find) of the name Satan and changed it to Sanguineus. Vampire mythology is often associated with Christianity, but aside from the use of crosses, I’d rather have my game’s lore follow its own rules and not mess with any real world religion or its figures. I think that goes without saying in a work of fiction, but I’d rather avoid the “ Umm, actually…” comments.

I have finished the layout of the Shrouded Academy. I still need to decorate the interiors as well as add in a few… gimmicks. I will elaborate further on that in a future update. The main room that I worked on is the final one where the boss is fought. An underground cavern surrounded with waterfalls. I’ve also started work on the boss fight, As seen below.

This week has felt rather chaotic in terms of time management. Summer has given me little free time between my day job and babysitting my 4 year old nephew. And I just found out I have another one on the way! I’m excited, but also dreading caring for an infant again. I love taking care of my nephew, but kids are draining, especially at that age.

I’m sticking to a development schedule that works best for me. I’ve said this before, but I’m repeating it again for myself more than anything. I’m focusing on getting small goals done each week for you all. That being said, I’m still aiming to have this update out by late September. If I can keep this pace going, I should be able to meet my deadline. With any luck, I should have a bit more free time in August.

Her Heart's Desire: A Landlord Epic - Mr Big Chungus
Hey fam, thanks for tuning in to Big Chungus Productions. We've got another hot one for you, and if I do say so myself, the newest Her Heart's Desire beta is my best work yet.

So what's new?
  • 550 new images (all new, nothing re-used from the current production game), and combined with the previous beta, there now 1,449 images in the remake. That's more a lot more than thirty percent of the current completed game.

  • 19 new animations, these include a remake of a scene in the current game, as well as a new goodbye kiss that's one of my longest animations so far (almost 8 seconds), and a brand new scene as voted on by supporters in a recent poll.

  • 83 new sound effect & music files - the total for this remake is now at 245, which is just shy of what's in Milfy Cases. I think you'll enjoy the audio even more than usual this time around - or not, but I'm optimistic.

  • All new 11,400 words of story, some of which is a rewrite of the current game, and some for new scenes was written from scratch. The total in the remake is now just over 33,400 words, which is only ~6K words short of the latest Milfy Cases update before I paused development on that title to remake HHD.

  • Revamped office scene with Elizabeth, Tricia, and Eric - I've used a few new techniques, some new Renpy transitions, and more to make something that I consider some of my best work yet.

Thank you all for your bug reports via email, Discord, or here on Steam. It's been a long weekend of non-stop work, but this patch fixes these issues, so you can fully enjoy the game while I work on a larger update. Two potential progress blockers are included, so if you were unable to progress in the story, you may have encountered one of these. Depending on your progress, you may be able to continue with your latest or an earlier save game. You can read more details in the patch notes below:

  • Fixed a story blocker that could occur by talking to the merchants and completing the captain's quest before recruiting Janus, or by talking to Janus after talking to the merchants but before reporting to the captain. The barracks will now stay open, and you can complete this quest in any order. *This fix will work on all existing saves.*
  • "Unraveling Shadows" will now start after the captain gives you the quest and not after talking to Janus. The quest can be completed before recruiting Janus. *This fix will only work on existing saves if you haven't yet talked to the captain.*
  • Added an additional branch in Janus' dialogue if talking to him after completing the market thefts investigation.
  • Fixed a story blocker that could occur after declining Sheela's proposal in the dialogue with Ludo and Janus at the Golden Sparrow. This could lead to not completing "Crossroads" or unlocking "Sinister Secrets," resulting in various progress blockers. *This fix will only work on existing saves if the save is from before talking with Ludo and Janus at the Golden Sparrow.*
  • The Deranged Hermit will now stay open after Ludo's ritual, in case you leave any unfinished business there. *This won't help salvage existing saves if the save is from before talking with Ludo and Janus at the Golden Sparrow.*
  • Rephrased the task of "Sinister Revelations" to: Ask around for your friends in the Deranged Hermit tavern.
  • After investing with Garret or Elara, their stock was empty during the first trade.
  • Fixed a few romance combinations not triggering even though compatible.
  • Fixed an inconsistency in Ludo's dialogue in the hideout where he would mention Jocelyn, even if you haven't met her.
  • Fixed an issue with OnLevelup not refreshing visually the UI.
  • Fixed an issue with certain Shields ie. Rusty Roundel, removing double armor when getting unequipped.
  • Added a message to prevent dragging items to companions from your equipped slots. To give an item, you need to drag it from your stash to the companion portrait.
  • Fixed an issue where transferring an extra copy of an equipped item would unequip it, even if the actor had enough such items in their stock.

Thank you so much for your support for our game. We have been closely monitoring the feedback and suggestions from our community, and we are working hard to address your concerns. Here are the updates for this patch:

The issue with the abnormal difficulty of the Nightmare Abyss has been fixed. Now, the enemy strength in the Nightmare Abyss will increase by 2% per level (a curved increase). This means that regardless of how many levels you challenge, the difficulty for the first 10 days of the game will remain mostly unchanged, while the enemies in the last 10 days will be more challenging.

We have adjusted the challenge mechanism of the Nightmare Abyss. Now, for every 10 layers of the abyss you challenge, the game's days will increase by 5. For example, if you challenge a level 10 Nightmare Abyss, you will need to survive for 45 days in the game to win; if you challenge a level 20 Abyss, you will need to survive for 50 days.

With these changes, we aim to focus the gameplay of the Nightmare Abyss on building the strongest team to defeat the most formidable enemies. We understand that some powerful strategies in the game require a longer growth cycle, so we have increased the number of days for the abyss levels to give players more time to cultivate their teams and avoid the frustration of the game ending just as they complete their lineup.
