Spaceversary Event
July 26 through August 11th

Its now been a full year since launch on Steam, so Spaceversary is here to celebrate! Along with a Steam Deck giveaway running in the Discord. Working on the game has been a ton of fun for me, I can't believe its still chugging along this well a full year later.

Note: There is not new endgame content, that is still in the works.

During the event, the special "Event" tab will be available. Play an anomaly harvesting mini-game to earn two special resources: Versarite and Yearium

Versarite will let you upgrade the mini-game in various ways.

Yearium can be used for system specific time skips and minor boosts that last the duration of the event.

All that Yearium will culminate in unlocking the new Spaceversary ship design!

Here are the boring patch notes:
  • Spaceversary Event running July 26th through August 11th, harvest anomalies in a small mini-game to earn boosts and AI Points
  • You earn the event resources every time you play the mini-game (and are guaranteed some regardless of score)

Hi Maplers, 

During the Gold Richie’s Safe event, running from July 3, 2024 - July 30, 2024, there was an issue that prevented players in Luna from participating in Round 1 of the event on July 3, 2024.

To make up for the missed opportunity during the first round, we will be randomly selecting 20 Gold and 10 Diamond winners in Luna after the final round of Gold Richie’s Safe event. Only players who participate in the final round on July 30, 2024 will be eligible for selection.

Once the winners have been chosen, we will update this post with the list of winners along with how the Round 1 rewards will be distributed.

Pickle - Eymen
We fixed the following issues with multiple updates:
  • Constant promo item (Pickle item) drops.
  • Items not dropping unless you restart the game.
  • Items not appearing on some players. Keep in mind that this is not a complete fix, those who had this issue before this update may continue to experience it for a while.
  • We also adjusted some item drop rates and adjusted the drop interval.

Mind Over Magic - Sparky-Ike
This update brings The Archive and The Library, both new rooms that bring new power for relics.

You can now level up relics by Attuning them to Mages and gaining XP. The Library is a room dedicated to Attunement that makes it go faster and lets Mages Attune Relics of a higher level than they are.

You can then put a Relic on display in the Archive to gain powers that affect the whole school. The higher level a Relic is, the stronger the power will be.

Architecture Styles are a new way to shake up your next run by changing the Room Keyword requirements of each Room Type. Each style emphasizes a different way of building and each can be a shuffled for even more variety. There is a new Room Filter UI and a Book of Rooms with new tools to help you build.

There are also a stack of balance changes, fixes, and quality of life improvements.

We continue to make progress on the development roadmap as well. Thanks so much for all the support and feedback.

Update Changelog

Relic Plinth Powers
  • Relics may now be Displayed on a Relic Plinth in an Archive Room to gain new Relic Plinth Powers, such as the ability to Summon Initiates of a specific Faction.
Relic Level-Up and Drops
  • Relics now level up to gain power. Relics gain Relic XP while Attuned to a Mage and the Mage gains XP.
  • Mages can now un-Attune a Relic any time in order to drop the relic.
  • Relics can reach Level 24 and many have new or updated powers.
  • In addition to Graduation and Retirement, new Level 1 Relics are now Manifested by Promotion to Apprentice and Hiring. Some Crystal Battles and Bosses now drop higher level Relics.
  • When Mages Graduate, Retire, are Expelled, are Dismissed, or Die, their currently Attuned Relics now drop on the ground instead of disappearing.
  • 15 new Relic models.
Relic Attuning
  • New Library and Atheneum Rooms allow Mages to Attune Relics much faster and at levels higher than their own.
  • Relics now take somewhat longer to Attune.
Architecture Styles
  • When starting a new school, you can now choose from different Architecture Styles that impact which Keywords are required for Rooms.
  • The Architecture Styles are Balanced, Wonky, Airy, Lofty, and Chaotic.
  • Each Architecture Style may be Shuffled (besides Chaotic, which is already randomized) to make it more unique for new games without changing its theme.
  • Existing games continue to use their current Keyword settings.
  • On new games, the Towered keyword now requires an outdoor gap instead of a double-wall.
  • Existing games use the Towered (Legacy) keyword which still allows double-walls to satisfy the requirement.
  • Three new keywords have been added to various rooms.
  • Interior is a new keyword that requires a Room to not be adjacent to outdoors.
  • Quiet is a new keyword that requires a Room to not be adjacent to a Crafting Room, Rec Room, Ritual Room, or Classroom.
  • Pristine is a new keyword that requires a Room to not contain any -Luxury items.
Gnosis Shards
  • Gnosis Shards can now be obtained from sources other than Mages departing from the school.
  • Gnosis Shards can be gained from Battle Rewards.
  • New Gnosis Veins in the Underschool can be Mined for Gnosis Shards. Some previously explored Underschool rooms gain Gnosis Veins.
  • When Mages gain a Magic Skill Level, they drop Gnosis Shards.
Gameplay and Balance
  • Scars gained from expired Trauma now reduce the amount of time available to Revive a Mage that is At Death's Door.
  • Trauma, Scars, and their impact on the Death Timer are now displayed on the Mage Sheet UI.
  • Discordance Conviction impact does not begin until you have two more Staff than previously.
  • Croa Nests are now huntable and drop Eyeballs when Hunted.
  • Certain types of Filth created by Crafting Stations now have two stages. When first created, they will not affect Luxury. After 3 hours, they will become Rancid versions, which have -Luxury and can impact the new Pristine keyword.
  • XP for hunting the Fog Incarnate grows more linearly instead of by large chunks.
  • For new schools, the lowest wing in the Underschool is now a Slams Shut wing.
  • Cursed totems will no longer appear in final rooms of Slams Shut wings.
  • Mage Skill now impacts MAGE score more heavily.
  • The Retire ritual has been renamed to Dismiss. Dismissed Mages do not Manifest a relic.
  • The Retire Emeritus Ritual is now Retire and does Manifest a relic. It still requires 14 days in the school as Staff.
Quality of Life
  • It is now possible to place Furnishings on Construction Blocks before the blocks have been Constructed. Furnishings placed this way cannot be Assembled until the blocks are complete, however.
  • Construction Blocks and Furnishings can now be placed on top of wild plants. The plants will be destroyed when Construction or Assembly is complete.
  • Room Filter UI has been redone and allows setting a Goal on each Room for what the target type is, allowing you to see what is needed to get there.
  • Room Types UI has been replaced with the Book of Rooms, a new full-screen UI with all the details about Room Types and Room Keywords. Open it from the Room Filter UI.
  • A new MAGE score visualization can now be found at the Book of Rooms.
  • A new Room Keyword listing is also at the Book of Rooms.
  • Roof Decor placement has been updated to look better and be easier to place.
  • Roof Decor is always now at least two blocks wide, making it easier to center on peaks.
  • Existing Roof Decor is not impacted by the size change.
  • Medical Rituals now show the Mage receiving treatment and that Revived mages will gain a negative Quirk.
  • New fullscreen Relic UI and Relic selector.
Fixes & Improvements
  • Roof Decor how has research search keywords for Small and Large.
  • Stained Glass Windows are now specified as Large/Huge Windows.
  • Worker count slider added to help players experiencing Unity crashes with their specific processor.
  • Mages can no longer Attune two Relics with the same Legacy.
  • Fix wand images being upside down on the Wand selector for Summoning / Crafting.
  • The clock tower now tells the time! (Is this the best thing in the whole release?)
  • Shrinks are easier to select in the world now.
  • Toned down high-frequency layer in some spell sounds that bothered some players.
  • Fixed staff hiring cost display at the Book of Rituals.
  • Fix for staff with Melancholy incorrectly counting as a Mage able to complete Tasks that require specific spells.
  • Improved "Insufficient space for ritual" warnings to be less spammy.
  • Fix for many Right-click direct orders improperly being allowed if another Mage was already doing the errand.
  • Quilted Helpers will now always complete their current Task before selecting a new one. This helps prevent a chain of Quilted all selecting new Tasks.
  • Fix for a Staff sleep position where there head could be through the headboard.
  • When right-clicking to direct order a Mage to do a Task, the menu now shows if that Task is disallowed.
  • Fix some references to Skill-Specific Teaching Stations to properly say Apprentice Stations.
  • Adjust XP required for Mage level-up so that early levels grow longer at a consistent pace.
  • Fix for Cooked in Fine Kitchen and Recreated in Common Room/House Commons/Conservatory to have proper durations.
  • Immediately cancel Store and Move orders on Shrinks when Enlarge is ordered.
  • Added audio for new Quirk feed notifications.
  • More detailed enemy combat spell descriptions for some spells.
  • Updated color to some icons in combat to aid clarity.
  • New animations and VFX for Mages and moving fast on Hallway Runners or due to movement speed Relics.
  • Fix for Breathstealer targeting when Marked for Death Mage is Hired.
  • Fix for Breathstealer killing Mages on a broom.
  • Improved layout for Graduate and Expel ritual positions.
  • Removed Spirit and Hallowlily references from Funeral and Grave keywords.
  • Lightning Destruction sound only plays when something is actually destroyed.
  • Fix for Fog Incarnation battles not starting when a stair to a corner of the room is the only entrance.
  • Crash fix for when a Dragged Away break triggers when the school is covered by Fog.
  • Reduce the scroll sensitivity for Inventory and Resources scrolls.
  • Removed duplicate Rotate Right from keymap window and fixed its secondary mapping.
  • Description of the 'Likes Bitterrice Meals' Quirk now links the correct status.
Thronefall - Paul
Dear Queens and Kings,
with the latest improvements to our UI we've finally been able to get the Steam Deck verified status for Thronefall. The Deck has been one among favourite ways to play Thronefall since release, so we're really excited about this!
