We're excited to present the fourth and final instalment of the Total War: PHARAOH development update series. This week, we'll be focusing on the new features and enhancements awaiting you in Campaign, the heart of the gameplay experience. From here, you'll orchestrate magnificent war campaigns, construct your economy from scratch, and scheme against your eternal enemies in the court.
Before diving into the details, just a reminder that in the previous blog we unveiled the new and revamped battle features included in the DYNASTIES update.
As you all know so terribly, terribly well, the Crush Depth update arrives this summer. But it IS already summer, you say? Well well. Then it must be close. With summer in full swing, why not take a dip into this Crush Depth preview to cool off?
New Sectors
Two major new Sectors are on their way, and at least a Portal World, maybe two. Maybe three. Itâs hard to say, but we wonât.
Security
Are you finding this Status Report hard to follow? Well, get used to it, bucko, because the dim lighting in Security Sector is bound to make your navigation difficult. IS-0059 isnât bound to make it any easier.
Previously, weâve teased a small sampling of the Security Sector and that image was mostly a black blob. Here, have a second one.
We hope you arenât afraid of the dark, but weâre confident you will find your way to the light once again.
GATE Security Crates
Speaking of Security, we know youâve been eyeing these large, chunky crates.
Luckily, Warren has finally followed through on something (for once) and opened up a new trading post. Youâll find he has a few things available for purchase, but thatâs all we can say about that right now. Heâs got a gun, after all.
The Hydroplant
Perhaps when you explore enough of this concrete superstructure, youâll be bold enough to strap on the new Rebreather and slip into those murky depths. You never know whatâs waiting for you in those dark waters. Maybe some food or weird alien technology or seaweed or something.
Voussoir
Need to cool off further? Take a trip into the snowy mountains of the Voussoir Facility! Though this brisk vacation may not be as relaxing as youâd hoped.
With the new temperature system, weâd recommend grabbing (or crafting) some cozy gear to keep you warm from head to toe! Weâve completely reworked the temperature system, making it both easy to understand, and fun to counteract.
Lasers
Power and defense all in one!
Power your home, from near or far â just watch where you step. Weâre excited to see what crazy stuff you can come up with using the laser system. We just build the thing. Youâre the ones who put it to use. ⊠After you also build it because this is a survival crafting game.
Fishing
The Research Division has gone fishing. Literally. Weâve done a bit of work on fishing but since itâs not quite ready to show, hereâs a little debug nonsense for you to stare at. Weâre spending a lot of time getting the feel right, and weâre trying to keep the fishing activity as in-world as possible.
We also hear rumors of a Fishing Skill with unlockable perks â but that sounds like a whale of a tale, if you ask us.
The Chefâs Counter
Weâve also moved a lot of food recipes and fish butchery (is that a word?) over to the Chefâs Counter, a split-table which can be crafted fairly early on to fit nicely into your base and help bring out the worst food-obsessed habits from the chef-oriented scientists of your group.
What Grows Beneath
We arenât quite ready to show it all off, but a few new plants are hitting the waves⊠and caves. This appears to be some kind of psychedelic rice. What new dishes could be in store?
Storage by Tag
Weâve made a major change to certain inventories. Zag says itâs for the good of the gameplay balance. I say itâs because he HATES us. By us, I mean the cool scientists. Supposedly this âbig brain game designerâ feels that certain âcontainersâ are âoverpoweredâ and thinks by restricting items by tag we will expand our bases and not âjust use refrigerators to store everything.â
Sure Zag, whatever you say. Now certain containers can only hold certain types of items. This currently only applies to the Fridge, being able to only hold food (or mostly food) items, and the Med Kits only able to hold Medical Items.
Radial Wheel Improvements
In news that makes it feel like Zag does actually care about us instead of wanting to watch us pack-rats relentlessly suffer, there are now a bunch of new easy-to-use radial wheels coming in Crush Depth.
When accessing Charging Stations, you can hold interact to bring up a wheel of all the available chargeable items in your inventory and place the one you want.
When holding down the Flashlight action, you can bring up a radial wheel to toggle which flashlight you want instead of having to cycle through the available options.
Holstering has had the same treatment. If you want your weapon, your shield, or neither, you can hold the Holster key to bring up a wheel to select your desired state.
As before, youâll still be able to tap the action to cycle through these things, but this should bring a nice massaging effect to your experience. This is also a good time to remind you that you also already have a Medical Wheel, if you hold the Health key (X by default.)
But wait, thereâs more!
We were going to say a lot about the following features, but weâre just so gosh-darn busy these days that we donât want to stop and talk about it. We just want to CREATE. And we still have a lot left to do. Here is a small sampling of some other things on the way in Crush Depth⊠And we assure you, this is not all.
The SUV
You All Guessed It: The Moisture Teleporter
Carbon Structures
Scoped Weaponry
Performance Note
We also want to take a moment to address some performance concerns. We are on top of it. Weâve spent an enormous amount of our time this update overhauling a few areas of the game (specifically Labs) and planning ahead with some of the new sectors (Hydroplant in particular, which is quite massive in scale.) In Crush Depth, these areas will do a lot more loading and unloading as you move about the space, for much greater efficiency.
We expect some hiccups along the way, since weâre technically pulling levels apart and putting them back together. We expect a few oddities with existing saves using those areas (nothing catastrophic - most likely just some duplicate/respawned objects) and you may see some visual changes from this, changing how some areas might look from a distance. It is an ongoing process, but weâre really happy to report weâre seeing improved performance in these areas. Weâd like to do this with more areas as we go along - weâll keep you posted.
Weâll talk more about this on release day, and set some expectations or let you know if thereâs anything to watch out for. We donât expect many bumps here, but weâre entering our larger internal testing phase now and should iron out the kinks in no time.
You said summer and itâs already summer!
Yes. These things are both true. We will leave it up to the scientific community to do the math here. We trust that you can do it.
One last foggy fact...
Dr. Thule has been making improvements to the Facilityâs ventilation system and claims he can âcontrol the weather.â What the heck does that mean? That man is losing it, I tell ya.
Thatâs all for today, folks. Thank you for checking out todayâs preview of our upcoming summer update; Crush Depth. If you missed the first installment, please check it out right here. Please continue leaving us excellent feedback, good reviews, and do not fall asleep during IS-0059 sightings. If you do, you may end up in Anteverse 39, and we arenât sure if you can make it back. Or if youâll even want to.
Onward -- to science.
If youâve been enjoying your time at the GATE Cascade Research Facility and are able to safely paddle through the muck to the Steam page, please leave us a review!

Today, weâre bringing you a new Devlog detailing more about the future of Autopsy Simulator. In this Devlog, weâll discuss our new development partners and provide a well-requested news update regarding our Autopsy Only Mode future update.
An update on Development Partners for Autopsy Simulator
Before speaking about the future of Autopsy Simulator, weâd like to provide the community with an update regarding Autopsy Simulator's development partners. Woodland Games are no longer the active development team working on Autopsy Simulator. Team17 Digital would like to thank Woodland Games for their dedication to developing Autopsy Simulator over the last four years and for their efforts to bring Autopsy Simulator: Dead Memories to Steam.
Team17 Digital has partnered with Epiphany Games to develop Autopsy Simulatorâs Autopsy Only Mode update. Epiphany Games has a proven track record of delivering high-quality content and has previously worked with Team17 on several titles, including the console adaptations of DREDGE. Weâre thrilled to work with Epiphany Games again to bring future updates to the Autopsy Simulator community.
An update regarding Autopsy Only Mode
Last month we discussed a handful of Austopsy Only Mode's features. This included AOM's focus on simulation gameplay, randomised causes of death in the game mode and players being graded and scored by performance in the Autopsy Room.
Today, we have more information to provide regarding the new game mode!
In Autopsy Only Mode, players will become a student Pathologist and will be scored based on a set of specific criteria, which includes:
The flow of the Autopsy: Ensure all areas of the internal and external examinations were conducted. If some procedures or areas were skipped, players will be docked points from their final score.
Playerâs carefulness: Players will need to consider their options, as planning which examinations will be needed and performance in mini-games will all affect a playerâs final score in AOM. Unnecessary examinations will prove costly, as incorrect examinations will negatively impact playerâs scores.
Final cause of death judgement: Select the correct cause of death for the cadaver and you will gain points and a better final rank.
Clean-up: High quality and effective stitching of the cadaver will score players more points.
Since our launch last month, weâve heard players' feedback about the fixed state of the causes of death in Autopsy Simulator: Dead Memories. This will be different in Autopsy Only Mode, with players being able to select the cause of death for each cadaver.
In Autopsy Only Mode, there will be three varied cadavers to dissect with ten total causes of death across the game mode. The causes of death are split between two categories, with seven generic causes of death across all cadavers and three unique causes of death, one per cadaver. When players begin their game in AOM, there will be eight possible causes of death for each body. Start the external exams, plan your next steps, track possible causes, conduct internal exams, find the correct cause of death and close the body by stitching it up!
Autopsy Only Mode will score players on their performance during the autopsy. The team working on AOM will be reworking mini-games, allowing for enhancements to be made to the tools and the scoring system. This will provide more precise scoring and will allow for the failure of certain mini-games. Players need to be as efficient as possible whilst in the autopsy room by cutting organs precisely without wonky skull cutting or off-centre organ dissection, taking useful polaroid photographs during the investigation stage and more!
Public Testing Environment Announcement
PTE arriving September for Autopsy Only Mode
Today, weâre announcing our Public Testing Environment will arrive for Autopsy Only Mode in September. The introduction of this PTE in September provides an opportunity for the community to playtest our AOM update, with our team gathering community feedback around the game mode update before the updateâs full release. We aim to involve the community as much as we can in the development of Autopsy Only Mode!
What is a PTE?
A Public Test Environment is a version of the game available for download that lets you play unreleased, beta-phase content. By running a PTE, weâll test our game modes' new features, scoring system, gameplay mechanics and bug searching. Itâs also important to note that the content in September may contain issues and incomplete features, as it will be a beta build.
How can I be a part of the PTE?
When weâre closer to September, weâll have further details regarding the Public Testing Environment â including information on how to be a part of our Autopsy Only Mode PTE! We've chosen to run a PTE before the full release of AOM to ensure the update lives up to the community's expectations, and so that the new game mode releases in the best state possible!
Our Commitment Moving Forward
Lastly, we'd like to thank the community for all their feedback and passion towards Autopsy Simulator since our launch last month! We also want to assure you that the development team are hard at work creating Autopsy Only Mode and we are excited to involve the community in AOM's development during our PTE, to achieve the best update possible for Autopsy Simulator!
We'll be sharing more news around the update between now and our PTE in September and look forward to showcasing more from our Autopsy Only Mode in more frequent Devlogs.
Keep those Scalpels sharp Pathologists and see you soon! đȘ
