Quality of Life Update 1

As always, we want to thank our incredible players for supporting us and helping us make an incredible game. This first quality of life patch has tons of changes based on feedback and bug reports from the community. We'll be releasing another quality of life patch in the future as we work towards 1.0 which will contain new content.


Major New System - Party Finder
The Find Party option is our take on a server browser, and was the number one most requested feature when we announce Echoes and we’re excited to get it into player’s hands. This allows you to find games with the activities you want to do, at the level you want to do them and more! We’re labeling this current iteration as alpha as there is room for improvement and we do recommend players back up their data just in case. We’ll be looking at your feedback and making changes to the browser for our next quality of life patch which will move the browser from alpha to beta.

A few things to note.

  • The game you connect to remains peer-to-peer, just like if you were to join a friend. This is not a dedicated server.
  • Currently the system will filter out by region/ping to only show the best connections. This does not impact the ability to play with friends in different regions when inviting them to a party.

World
  • Decreased enemy respawn times in Highlands and Forstmarch by 50%.
  • Co-op now unlocks as soon as the player reach the Highlands for the first time during “The Descent.”
  • Trap damage now has audio.
  • Added an Echo Matrix by the Mythic Hunt portal.
  • The Solar Boon effect can no longer crit.
  • Fixed the Solar Boon dealing two instances of damage.
  • Fixed an issue where joining a player who is more progressed would unlock zones for you without having to progress to them.
  • Fixed players being unable to pick up the Gloom Collapse torch in Hunts.
  • Fixed players getting stuck in the Hunt boss chest.
  • Fixed players being unable to destroy the Gloom Anchor in Unraveling Aurelian.
  • Fixed Gloom Collapse not functioning correctly in the Mythic Reaver King hunt.
  • Fixed a ton of toe catches around the world to keep those little piggies safe and sound.

Narrative & Quests
  • Wayfinder Memories can now be viewed so long as the required Wayfinder has been summoned, regardless of which Wayfinder is currently equipped.
  • Additionally, remnant-like images of the associated Wayfinder have been added beside the memories to help identify which character they belong to before interacting.
  • Affinities are now unlocked and tutorialized earlier--now available after completing “Call of the Void” in the Main Story Quest progression.
  • Added missing objective markers for quests in The Void.
  • Fixed various additional quests that were missing objective markers.
  • Fixed Omen being inaccessible after completing “A New Wayfinder.”
  • Fixed not being able to Summon Wayfinders after completing “Despair and Hope”.
  • Fixed some Daily Jobs auto completing after accepting them.
  • Fixed the Deer Spirit NPC being non-responsive during “Spirit of the Stones”.
  • Fixed Wayfinder Memory quests not completing after finding all memories.
  • Fixed an issue where Clients would receive the “Tangled Webs” quest again after completing.

Combat
  • Added air control for Wayfinders.
  • Added visual and sound effects to Grendel's Whirlwind impacts.
  • Grendel’s Berserker Frenzy now correctly deals damage in an area around Grendel when the Frenzy effect expires.
  • Grendel’s Berserker Frenzy now correctly buffs and scales Grendel.
  • Tuned the Broodmother S’ilreth Hunt to be more approachable for new players and less annoying for experienced players by removing significant portions of downtime throughout the fight.
  • Silo’s Oil Bomb will now trigger the Oiled effect when it directly impacts an enemy, even if it explodes above the minimum oil pool height.
  • Phalanx Shield from Legacy now scales 50/50 WP/AP, in-line with other weapon abilities.
  • Improved targeting for all Wayfinder Abilities.
  • Increased the range of Kyros' Arcane Focus.
  • Increased the AoE size of Niss’s Vengeful Shade.
  • Senja changes:
    • Gain Favor damage increased from 0.6*AP → 1.5*AP
    • Gain Favor break damage buffed 0.3*BP -> 0.8*BP
    • Showboating damage reduction increased 50% -> 60%
    • Hitboxes size for Pummel increased ~20%
  • Updated the description for Gladiator Pummel to be more detailed.
  • Updated the description for Lightning Grasp to be more detailed.
  • Added an internal cooldown to Red Feast healing.
  • Fixed an issue causing aggressive screen shaking when killing enemies while locked on.

  • Fixed incorrect description for Speed Demon survivalist Talent.
  • Fixed the Warmaster Whirling Blades mastery getting triggered twice.
  • Counterplay now correctly finds the closest ground point and spawns appropriate mesh and VFX.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause Mighty Leap to travel much farther than intended when hard-locked on a target.
  • Fixed an issue where player Ultimates would get interrupted by the Grand Deceivers pull attack.
  • Fixed Rifles auto-fire not working after reloading and dodging.

Loot & Progression
  • Added a unique echo for the Dark Star Night’s Maw.
  • Added 3 craftable Relics to the Engineer. (Lancer's Matrix, Ethereal Maw, and Shockpin)
  • Added 16 accessories as loot drops - Ring of the Unraveled, Sash of the Earthen Path, Beastly Claws, Ancient Eye, Frenzied Spores, Fallen Star Shard, Startouched Vambrace, Excavation Team's Toolbox, Excavation Gauntlet, Ring of an Ending Star, Ring of Broken Fate, Ring of the Mandrake, Necklace of Eruption, Ring of Perfect Gold, Ring of Unstable Creation, and Necklace of Unstable Creation.
  • Added loot to breakables.
  • Added weapons as a fallback for Skeleton Chests after earning all armor pieces.
  • Mutated armor sets now have a higher drop rate at lower levels.
  • The Armor loot pool is now additive, meaning once you’ve exhausted the relevant biomes loot pool you will start to receive lower tier armors you missed from previous zones.
  • Added an Accessory drop to the Summoning Relic puzzle in Highland.
  • Refunded Gloomstone from a respec can now be able to be spent correctly.
  • Malefic Maw, Bloodrage of Vuul, Dark Arbiter and Slyv’r no longer drop artifact recipes. Instead they drop the actual artifact item.
  • Selling to vendors has been standardized.
  • The following items are now sellable: Bloodbag, Deepwood Fledgling, Gray Cub, Little White Lie, Observer, Primal Shrine, Skeleton Thief's Chest, Slimelet, Swindler, Tiding, Trickster's Artifact, Training Dummy, Unravelling Brazzier, and Unyielding Cube.
  • The Mythic Duty echo has changed from a Cross to Guard type.
  • The Slyv’r Echo will no longer stack multiple times.
  • Increased cooldown for the Aturach the Deathless Echo from 15 → 20 seconds.
  • Fallen Greedlord Echo changes:
  • Reduced duration from 10s → 7.5s
  • Reduced the frequency of damage instances from .5s → .75s
  • Reduced damage scaling from 150% AP → 100% AP
  • Reduced DoT damage by 40%.
  • Fixed the amount of Spectra spawning in Frostmarch. There is more now!
  • Fixed Kindled Heartwood and Fallen Greedlord echo not triggering for clients.
  • Fixed an issue where Old Bell Charm wasn’t granted when claimed on the Reward Tower.

  • Added a difficulty label near the party member UI.

  • The emote wheel can now be rebound.

Styles

  • Fixed players getting stuck in an infinite loading screen after selecting the “No Gloom Dagger” style.
  • Fixed Client styles resetting to the equipped armor style after loading.
  • Fixed the hitch after applying a new dye.
  • Removed redundant style tabs with Grendel’s Primal Colossus equipped.
  • Fixed the dye channels on Typhoon.

Misc

  • Fixed an issue where players would get stuck indefinitely on the Main Menu splash screen.

  • Fixed an issue where players on low spec machines or Steam Deck could crash upon first visit to Codex Halls.
  • Fixed party settings being visible before Co-op is unlocked.
  • Fixed clients seeing the host as a stick figure if they joined while the host was in editing mode in their apartment.

Known Issues

  • CO-OP Players may not have their cosmetics appear when first connecting to a host game. They will display correctly on travel
  • CO-OP Quest - Lighting the Flame - Players who are connected to a host machine that are downed when The Guardian is defeated will not receive credit for the kill.
  • CO-OP: Client's mount may be invisible after it is summoned
  • CO-OP: Quest - Lady of the Bog - Players who are connected to a host machine can not interact with "Investigate the Cage" prompt
  • FPS drops at Fort Koken location when the "Defend Fort Koken" event spawns
  • Opening the map when experiencing low FPS when using a controller may result in the map jittering
Once Human - Once Human

Once Human will undergo server maintenance on July 18th at 4:00 AM (UTC), which is expected to last for 4 hours. Please consider this when planning your game time. We appreciate your understanding and support.
We have been actively listening to and addressing feedback and suggestions from our community since the release. In this upcoming maintenance, we are excited to introduce the following updates:

[Gameplay Updates]
Every night a Rosetta transport truck filled with Sproutlets will appear on the highways of Red Sands. Metas near the truck will activate PvP to obtain the Sproutlets by either ramming the truck with vehicles or picking them up.
*There will be no Durability loss or gear drops in this mode, allowing players to embrace the exhilarating highway chase without any consequences. Enjoy this feature to your heart's content.
*This feature will be available in both PvP and PvE scenarios.

[Bug Fixes and Optimizations]
1. Disabled the feature that merges worlds; servers will no longer merge in later stages.
2. Increased the weekly donation limit for Warbands and introduced a limit on the number of weekly donations in the Evolution's Call scenario.
3. Expanded the detection radius of Spacetime to facilitate exploration.
4. Fixed an issue where Super Armor was inactive in Fortress Warfare.
5. Fixed an issue where Raining Cash did not provide a Damage Bonus in Fortress Warfare.
6. Fixed an issue where the Precise Shot Mask couldn't stack and corrected some text descriptions.
7. Fixed an issue where players would spawn underground after getting unstuck during the tutorial.

[New Arrivals]

PTS Feedback & Changes
It's been a while! The team has been laser focused on Tidal Surge & PTS, but now that we've revealed the update and let players playtest the content, we have things to share and changes we plan to make based on player feedback.
Ranked, Season 7 Split 2
Some players noticed a lack of mention of Split 2 of Ranked in the PTS Notes. No worries, Split 2 is still starting in the Tidal Surge update with a Golden Cache and Limited Avatar to earn! We originally planned to make larger changes to Ranked, but after chatting internally and with the Partners we scraped the original vision we had for adjustments. We'll be writing a blog in a few weeks to share what we had thought up & what direction we are going in instead to let all players join the conversation. Stay tuned!
Wave Defense
We got a TON of helpful feedback on Wave Defense, from how it currently functions to areas we can expand and improve upon it in the future. For this initial release, we're going to be implementing a few updates from PTS:
  • Wave Defense will be released as "Wave Defense Public Beta" and "Wave Defense Party Beta" to be clearer around how each queue functions and their state.
  • Wave Defense will launch with more intense Wave 1, 2 and 3 than the PTS version, with Waves 2 onward featuring 2 different bot types.
    • Due to this change, we expect performance to be slightly rougher throughout, however we are working continually on optimization. We want to make the mode as fun as it can be, then slowly beef up performance.
  • In future updates, we'll be exploring some of the ideas players have shared around rewards and/or Remixed-like modifiers within the mode.
We're really grateful players are giving us the space to create something like this & hope everyone gives it a try when it releases next week!
Balance Updates
We were swinging for the fences with our mid-Year balance, and that meant a lot of hits and plenty of misses. We've been listening to all forms of feedback and have some adjustments planned for the Live version.
Armor Plating
  • Reverted CC functionality
  • Reduced scaling from 7% ➡️ 6%
While we wanted to try something a bit more nuanced to make this Item less of an obvious purchase, this idea wasn't the right one. We both heard the concerns and saw a few issues emerge that made us feel a further nerf of its strength is better for the game in the short term.
Bloodbath
  • Reduced scaling from 450 ➡️ 360
This Item was performing very well on PTS with a return to True Healing and a significant scaling increase, so we want to be a bit more cautious and bring a bit down while preserving the True Healing. We're watching the strength of this item in conjunction with Rejuvenate but want to allow players to experiment more before we act.
Rejuvenate
  • Added "Does not work with Lifesteal effects."
While this was originally a bug, after watching Rejuvenate's performance on PTS we feel leaving this in place for now is the best call. We saw a lot of polarized thoughts on this version of Rejuvenate and its impacts on Support Itemization and early vs late game, however there was enough conversation from both directions that we want to let the wider player base experience it and give feedback. We plan to watch & act quickly to bring back the previous version if too many painpoints arise over the next few weeks.

We'll share some info on additional PTS adjustments to Champions over the coming days ahead of Tidal Surge's launch on July 24th!

Weekend Siege Remixed Modifier: Powerup Spawner & Truly Talented
To celebrate the upcoming release of Wave Defense, we planned to activate the Powerup Spawner featured in the mode for Remixed. However, player feedback also called out for another Year 7 staple to be added instead. Truly Talented rules will also be activated with Siege Remixed, with 3x Champion XP active all weekend long it's a great time to wave goodbye to this mode for now!

Try out the newest Gadget in Experimental 1v1 & Custom Games with Test Features enabled..

Inspired by the Bubble Tag Mode, throw this new Gadget at an opponent to trap them in a pink bubble!
  • If the Gadget is thrown and hits a player, they are bubbled for 3 to 4 seconds.
  • On a non-direct hit, there is a small explosion radius that bubbles players for 2.5 seconds.
  • The bubble pops if they are hit by an attack or tagged by a teammate.
  • If attacked, they’ll take 1.5x damage and knockback.
  • If the gadget misses and hits a wall or platform, it "pops" and disappears instead of bouncing and being reusable.

Operation Olive Factory:

Objective: Investigate the Olive Factory, a new area filled with dark secrets.

Mission Details: This area holds critical resources and new threats. Prepare for intense encounters and uncover the mysteries within.

Randomice Playtest - Did'
Small Features
  • Skip text prompt hides automatically when the player stops mashing.
  • Incorrect coin animation added on gacha machines.
  • Hot timer durations are doubled after each fail.
  • Pins can only be attached on the edge of wooden objects, not inside their collision box.

Level Design
  • Wood stack and terrarium places swapped.
  • It's no longer possible to climb from the office chair to the desk without any items.
  • Player can't be below a toilet paper in the left holes, preventing them to do a correct fire slam.
  • Rubble in dynamite tutorial can't just be stepped over.
  • It's easier to land on the top of the pharmacy when using the rocket.

Level Design
  • Login & Error sounds added on PC.

Bugs
  • It was possible to cheese a double jump by spamming the jump button while on the rocket.
  • Run smoke was sometimes still emitting while loading a tutorial.
